Easy, fresh, well-seasoned, tasty food for casual dine-in or take-out. We really enjoyed Mexican-style bowls where we added our own twist. Many vegetarian, vegan, and GF options/adaptations. Staff were pleasant and flexible to our dish changes. Burritos looked huge and tortillas fresh. Prices are, of course, steeper than the mainland, but still fair considering quality of food. The food is consistently delicious. But tonight I was served a dinner sized portion of nachos, stuffed into a tiny plastic container which turned the whole entree into pudding. Considering the effort they go to, to use cardboard containers, a small pizza box would have done nicely, but this was a disaster. read more

Boat House was the PERFECT meal for our first night on Nantucket. We were able to bike over and park in the bike rack right outside. The menu was varied- something for everyone- and the food was fresh. I had a Veggie Bowl and my husband tried the Jerk Chicken- we both loved our meals. We also got chips and salsa, waffle fries, and festival bread which was all delightful. Portions were generous, service was friendly, and they had a very healthy takeout business as folks were in and out the whole time we ate. Boathouse is one of the island's best "fast" food places! I've been going there for years. The owner knows me by name and is always present in her restaurant. All the staff are so sweet and patient (especially since they deal with people at late hours of the night). The food is delicious. The place is well organized and has a ton of options for food, drink, snacks, candy, merchandise etc. Prices are decent for the portion sizes. LOVE Boathouse! read more

I recently had the profound misfortune of dining at this so-called establishment, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of abysmal. The amount of fries served was egregious. To add insult to injury, the utter incompetence of the staff was further exemplified by their failure to include the dipping sauce WHILE CHARGING ME. Went here for takeout. Meat was greasy, the bowl despite having many ingredients like queso, salsa, guacamole, and carnitas. Probably wouldn't go here again. Also got two bowls which should have cost 13 for a big and 11 for the small bowl but the total came out to $42. So with my 20% tip, it was around 18-19 for each, not as advertised and didn't get extras. For this price I would expect a very flavorful meal. read more

Worst Jamaican stew chicken I ever had ... the rice was dry, the chicken was bland with just a ton of spice ... as if they were using the spice to hide the bland taste ... the food came in two small separate containers which is a "no no" with traditional Jamaican take out... the point of one plate is to mix the stew gravy with the rice .. everyone knows that .. on top of that the servings were very small for the price ... if your gonna jack a culture's food then at least do it right ... they are serving other ethic foods as well so probably why they can't get it right ... Was on Nantucket this week for some business, and every single day we went to the boat house for lunch. Day 1: Spanish chicken burrito. First Time iv ever had a burrito with roasted sweet potatoes on it. Wow was it good. With a homemade toffee chip cookie for dessert, we were starting off strong. Day 2) steak and cheese sub with waffle fries. Top 3 steak and cheese subs I've ever had. This is predominantly a burrito shop it seems, so I was very impressed. Fries were perfect as well, taken out just at the perfect fried moment. Paired with a coffee and chocolate chip cookie this time, yet again I left feeling impressed. This spot has been the best lunch/dinner spot I've checked out on island to this point, and iv been around the block(s). Nothing but fillers in the taco. Second the price six tacos came to $40 for take out. You spend less at Sayles Seafood and can feed an army. I enjoyed all my 15+ meals at Barcos Y Tacos. They serve good food and priced nicely. I wish they had more 'named burritos'! I'm not great a choosing ingredients, so I'd love more choices of 'named' burritos and tacos. Special shout out to the staff who are friendly and patient with my orders! This is the sort of place where you pick your protein, decide what form it will take, whether taco, burrito, bowl, or whatnot, choose your toppings, and off you go. I had the Jamaican shrimp in a bowl and it was spot on. The shrimp were big and cooked to perfection, with a nice firm bite. The teenager had Mexican chicken nachos. I tried it and it was full of cumin, and I'm not saying what the smell reminds me of lest I spoil your appetite. As you are aware, cumin is a legitimate spice that most people enjoy, so this is not a complaint but a warning to cumin frowners. There is a huge selection and you could spend 15 minutes deciding, so I suggest you go for the first thing that looks good. read more

I've had the salad bowl and I'd get it again. Be careful what you ask to put on because something's are extra $ and your salad bowl could end up costing you a pretty penny. I've also tried the fish tacos that came with two tacos stuffed with Panko fried cod (I think) shredded cabbage , cilantro, and I asked for pineapple salsa then they top it off with a spicy sauce that's great. For your salads I'd recommend the chili lime sauce it's delicious and the pineapple salsa is great! read more

Fast food. Ore-ida type frozen potatoes. The stale nachos tasted like they were a cheap brand (like a bulk brand from Walmart) topped with liquid velveeta and prepared by a teenager. Just disgusting. The fish tacos tasted like they were made with Gorton's Breaded Fish Sticks. Just nothing appealing whatsoever. Nevertheless, there is no McDonalds or Burger King on the island, so it's either here or Stubbys for fast food. Would have given a 4.5 stars if I could. Fantastic addition to the island!! Thank goodness for this new taco take-out spot. I was just saying that Nantucket needs an inexpensive burrito joint and here it is. First the good stuff...great selection for burritos, bowls, salads or tacos (similar set up to Chipotle) with really excellent shrimp and jerk chicken (I didn't try the other proteins). I love that they are vegan friendly, definitely vegetarian friendly and even gluten-free friendly (the panko crusted cod unfortunately though is NOT gluten free.) Also, the corn chips are not gluten free, which is a bummer. I like the the wide wood panels on the walls and the printed canvas photos of vintage surf portraits. Now, for the "needs work"...the long wooden tables need to have 6 inches added to the table legs so that people can actually get their legs all the way under the table when they're sitting on the metal bar stools. I also suggest that they have some laminated menus in a stand, near where you queue up, so that people can browse the menu options without having to crane their neck and navigate the crowded chalkboard menu hanging up high. It's helpful when the waitstaff speaks English well enough to understand "gluten allergy". Besides the language barrier, the waitstaff were great. Last thing...the burritos need to be rolled tighter so that they don't fall apart easily. This will definitely be a regular place for our family (of vegetarian, a vegan, and a gluten-free pescatarian)!! read more

As a Mexican.. ashamed this is called a taco place. Meat has no flavor, salsas have no flavor, tortillas are decent, torta is made in ciabatta knock off bread although the it's advertised to be made in telera bread, which is what it's actually made with. Definitely won't order here again. It's good for Islanders and NorthEasterners maybe, but as a Mexican from Los Angeles, and as a chef, I promise you I can make way better tacos AND tortas at half the price.
