Decent size restaurant right on the beach. We passed by on it on our way to the beach. We decided to stop for a drink as we were leaving the beach. Unfortunately we missed their $1 class from 3-5. The staff was super friendly. We checked wait time for a table. We were told about 45 min. My boyfriend went and stood online for cocktails. I was standing (and probably in the way of staff-there was no where really to go) right near a station where the waitresses were filling waters, I ask for two and they gladly handed them to me (even with a smile) We ended up securing two barstools on the rail, so we did end up telling them to take us off the list. We ordered the 1/2 lb shrimp cocktail and 1/2lb oysters. OMG! AMAZING! I'm not usually a huge oyster fan, these were delicious. They were shucking them right behind us. The shrimp were huge. I tried a pain killer. It was ok. I also had a puna cold, that hit the spot.

We visited the Sandbar twice during a recent visit to Nantucket, both of which were so much fun! I had fish tacos the first time and a swordfish sandwich the second time - highly recommend both! The atmosphere was lively, breezy, and truly felt like vacation, especially with a piña colada, a painkiller, or a mudslide in hand! The Sandbar was also kid and pet-friendly and had some pretty cool merch too!

The drinks were amazing, the atmosphere was awesome - can't beat lunch on the beach. My food was good, especially the clam chowder. My friend's clam po boy was a little weird, but it was okay. All of the food looked fantastic and the servers were attentive and super nice, even in the summer heat!

Are you going for top quality food and service at great value? If so not the spot. If you want to hang out by a top tier beach, enjoy the views and people watching and have a beer then you are at the right spot. If you are at the beach and want a quick bite I would suggest the togo window. The food is basic but decent. I took a look around the kitchen and was busy and not so sure how clean. If you need a restroom break head back through the shop building. The oysters are cheaper and on menu but not sure I would try them there. Could not see shucking or how fresh they were. Good spot for a swim break.

This is a fantastic location. Right on the beach and perfect view of the sunset. We had planned to just sit and have drinks and got there about an hour and a half before close and got a table within 15 minutes. We had enjoyed the atmosphere and weren't told until we ordered a 2nd round at last call that we were also required to order food. We ordered just one app for a group of 4 and received the dirtiest look from the server. I was ready to respond by saying that information should've been told to us when we put our name in and not at last call if it was such a big deal. We had still spent $75 on drinks alone so not sure what difference a $12 app makes at 7:45pm when you close at 8. Definitely worth going for the view but just be mindful of this unspoken rule.

I feel like Sandbar is iconic Nantucket, if you've visited Nantucket you've been here. My take, is that if you want to feel like you checked all the boxes that you hit all the touristy spots, then sure, go to Sandbar. If you're at the beach and you're hungry and don't feel like walking to town, perfect spot. Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. I've ended up dining here at least five times over the years, because it's a great location for kids. Tons of kid friendly options and right on the beach. I got the street corn and I definitely won't be having it again, it was absolutely loaded with messy crema that really just masked the flavor of the corn. The clam chowder was just okay. For a spot right on the beach on an east coast island, I'd expect more. The fried fish however is wonderful no matter how you have it, I loved the tacos and the fish and chips, the fries were great. If you go here please get the fish tacos, seriously. The desserts are hoodsie cups and popsicles, I'd recommend the short walk to Juice Bar. The service is average. The busy ambiance is fun if you're into that, but I see it more as an hour wait for an average American meal. If you plan on going to Nantucket more than once, go here and have it be a one and done.

Casual cocktails with a beautiful view ~ A Nantucket must visit!

    Lobster roll

Exactly what you'd expect! Vibes are good, food and drinks are delicious. We had a lobster roll, shrimp tostada, and fish tacos. Shrimp tostada is spicy so beware! We also got the sandbar sunset and a mudslide and both were deliciousssss. We got drinks and sat on the chairs to watch the sunset before we got our table. !!! You cant order food past 8!!!!!

This is in stark contrast to every other restaurant we've to in Nantucket, which have been small with tables packed pretty close together. Even with sports on the tv and people at the bar, you can talk at a reasonable volume here and not overhear everyone else's conversations. The shishito peppers were nice, fish and chips exactly what you'd hope for, and Guinness is on tap, which I can never resist. Lobster mac and cheese left something to be desired on the cheese front, but the lobster was nice and tender. And the service is always friendly. This is not a place that will blow anyone's mind, but I have never had a bad dish here. Still my favorite place for dinner on Nantucket.
