I was so very pleased our paths had crossed, I learned allot. From what I witnessed, Matt has the experience, the knowledge, the connections and the determination to fix some of the most daunting boat related issues. Matt was recommended by a dock crew member, when we arrived at the marina late one afternoon, this past Memorial Day. We were only staying for a few nights, so I called Matt first thing the next morning to ask for his assistance with our issue tripping the newer style shore power pedestals. As sometimes luck would have it, Matt was already at this same marina working on another boat's AC. He would only be here for that day and while he waited for the other boat's AC to cool down, he had a little time to spare. He was able to stop by and assess this ground fault issue of mine. Matt got right to work searching through our electrical wiring and in short time identified the issue of a neutral going to ground. It only took a few hours more to isolate which device these neutrals connected. Matt found that in this case it was the inverter's two neutrals that switch automatically when going from batteries to shore power. Unfortunately, the shore power pedestal's circuit breaker react much faster than this relay, so Matt devised a safe and practical solution. We are now able to use any marina's shore power, whether the pedestals are older or, now, even the newer GFIC protection circuits. He has made my travels that much more safer, with less stress and without the trouble of finding a marina with older pedestals to have shore power. As a note; usually if marinas have updated to floating docks their shore power has also installed with the newer more sensitive ground fault circuits, required by a 2020 electrical code enforcement.
