The owner has serious anger issues and needs to let someone else be the face of the business. The two other guys who work there are fantastic and don't deserve the owners attitude. About half way through the day we (11 of us) came back to drop off a boat for repairs, we had rented a pontoon boat form this place earlier. The owner started yelling at my friend about where he parked his truck. Yelling that my friend was ruining his business because he was blocking his boat ramp. Well, it wasn't my friend's truck. No apologies were given. Chalked that one up and moved on. We then returned again to check on the boat being repaired. He actually came out looking for us 3 hrs before the rental was due. Really strange. We got our boat and it had dog fece in it. The guy has two dogs roaming his docks. He took no responsibility or accountability. The 2 guys working did, but the owner started losing it. He started yelling at us, with children present and lost his mind. If he isn't the owner, whoever owns this place needs to get rid of him because we will never go back there. We'll tell all of our friends never to go there because this guy is a maniac. We actually feared for our safety and the women and children were pretty frightened over the event. Update: the guy confiscated our rental three hours early, kicked us off the property and told us we didn't owe him any money. Just found out, he charged us for everything. What a coward. read more

Geez, so the only reason it's not a one star is the food straight from the kitchen isn't the absolute worst. However, if you intend to dress that burger get ready for flies galore. The staff all seems like they are just...how do I say this sensitively... they're all very anxious/jittery, run around quickly, but can't remember anything... hopefully you can fill in the blanks. The owner is a grumpy pants deluxe and truly seems as if he could care less if he keeps you as a customer. Often his big dogs are roaming the property and run up to you which is terrifying. Went today for the first time with a friend that has been going there for years. When we were closing our tab, the waitress ran 3 different cards & kept telling me all my cards were declined . I knew better but just paid cash & started to walk out. My friend went to tell the staff that she was disappointed with our experience due to the credit card situation. As we were walking out the owner verbally attacked by friend & accused her of " cursing" at his staff. Come to find out the " internet" was out On That side of the lake which is why my cards were declined. The staff could have just been honest about the internet connection instead of insisting it was my card . I have never seen an owner of a business attack customers this way let alone two females. The view of this place is great however the food is not. The food was 100% frozen food put into an oven and they served my husband expired beer, TWICE. when we asked the bar tender to switch out the beer due to the expiration date the response was "that's a sell by date" - I came for a family day and am at a loss for words at how cheap the service and food was. This is the first time that I've ever gone back and lowered a star rating but I feel obligated to my fellow Yelpers to issue a warning. If you're out on Lake LBJ and you want to have a burger and a beer this place is your ONLY choice. If you decide to give it a try DO NOT HAVE ANY EXPECTATIONS!! Sometimes the service is good, sometimes not. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes not although a burger is a fairly safe bet. The selection of beers is pretty good. Cocktails are overpriced for where you are and what this place is. Per other reviewers I have personally witnessed the owners dog attack other dogs. Perhaps the biggest warning I can give is to watch your wallet. Per other Yelpers warnings about the chips and salsa charges they do the same thing with WATER. We ordered dinner and drinks and generally were enjoying ourselves and asked the waitress for a couple of waters. She brought out two cold plastic bottles of water with their own label. I figured they were promoting the place and wanted you to take it with you. I figured wrong. They were $2 each on our final bill. When I told the waitress that she needed to inform us there was a charge for water she replied that they don't have drinkable water that isn't bottled. WT.......????? They don't have drinkable water? What are they cooking with? She wasn't all that pleased to take the water off the bill... CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED...... read more

I've come to this place for months and the owner is lovely. The area itself (Horseshoe Bay) is pricey so just be aware. However, the staff are nice, friendly, and easy to talk to. They do offer drinks and liquor which is always lovely on the boat. Food is great! Not sure why all these one star reviews are here but theyre from 2013-18. Initially we ordered a ceaser salad and when it was brought out the lettuce was old the dressing was more like a thousand island dressing. The owner told all of us to order burgers because they were understaffed. We helped him out and ordered cheese burgers. My sister dropped her burger on the ground, and when we were charged for it, we asked him to Comp it. He argued with us back and forth while we stayed calm and his temper flared. Decent burgers though, the waitress and other families present seemed visibly upset by his outburst. With only one option for food on Lake LBJ, we didn't have much for am option. Beer was cool but not cold. My husband a the supposedly very spicy chicken sandwich which turned out to be a preformed chicken breast doused with hot sauce and placed on the outdoor gas grill. It was no longer crispy once it set on the grill for a few minutes. My burger was ok but again pretty flavorless. Both were served with Ruffles chips which appeared to be the ones from the bottom of the bag chips. Oh...I almost forgot the chips and salsa that were $2.50 per person were stale tortilla chips and Pace picante sauce. For such a nice lake I would expect so much more and definitely more than 1 subpar restaurant with 2 large dogs watching my every bite. Yikes!!! read more

I have been coming to HB for years and finally bought a home a couple of years ago. Boaters Bistro, it's marina and the service department are the best on the lake, bar none. Quick service for boat repair, good food and drinks at the Bistro and typically the best gas prices on the water. Most importantly, their staff are courteous and wonderful people. Wow...where do I start? First, you pull up an get taken to the cleaners on gas prices. Next, we went to the restaurant and we were the only table....service was slow just to get our drink order taken. As another review mentioned, the water is a bottle for $2. The chips were a bit stale and the salsa was pace out of the jar for $5.50. After we ordered our food, the owner cooked the food with bare hands while stepping to the side of the grill to smoke, drink his beer and straight back to the grill to turn the buns with bare hands. Where is the health department? To make things even worse...they take the food off the grill and flies are sitting there waiting. I come here frequently with my family, it's a nice drive on the boat from the house, the staff they come right down to help us dock the boat. You can also get fuel and a little store is on the property next to the restaurant and bar area. Great drinks and horderves, the scallops are delicious! Recommend the blue Mexican it's one of my favorite drinks just don't under estimate it, it's strong. I can also catch the game with the new built in outdoor display which is nice. Waitstaff clearly work hard, delivering great burgers, steaks, and stiff drinks. Upstairs patio is great, downstairs patio offers welcome shade and cold beer. They rent and sell boats (never done either of those) but is a nice service if you need it. Gas is higher octane than other places in the lake - I appreciate that because I don't want to put lesser quality fuel to save a few dollars on a boat that I spent a good chunk on and want to last a good while. They also service boats - have used them to winterize and maintain my boat and have no complaints. Owner is an honest broker who cares about developing good relationships with customers. read more

What a joke of a restaurant! Stopped in at 3:30 on. Tuesday afternoon for lunch and drinks. The young man working there was very nice but couldn't serve mixed drinks and the waitress was "new" so she couldn't make a drink either. The young man said someone from the shop would come make the drink but they were busy so it'd be about ten minutes! What the... Oh, and they are out of brisket and pulled pork. Of course you are. Public health hazard; frozen food that is not good or properly cooked. About half the shrimp in our order of bacon wrapped shrimp were undercooked and raw, as was much of the bacon on all the shrimp. We sent it back and noted to the waiter that the shrimp were raw. The waiter took the shrimp back and never returned with a corrected order, nor did he remove the item from the bill. My order of brisket was commended by the waiter as it was "cooked that morning," suggesting that I was lucky in that they serve food cooked from prior days. My brisket arrived with no barbecue sauce, or sauce of any kind, and a side of ranch style beans from a can (and clearly not a good brand, since they were largely flavorless). My wife's caesar salad was a cheap pre-packaged supermarket salad. The others in our party were similarly unimpressed. The service was extremely slow, with drink requests sometimes taking 15+ minutes to make it to our table despite there being only a handful of other customers. The bill at the end was enormous and incorrect. It's sad this is one of the only options on the lake to get food. It's unsafe and poor quality. read more

I desperately want to like this place but can't. After several visits it is clearly dirty (layers of dust on things, clutter of old decor from various holidays and bulky furnishings.) Could be such a gem and the people are nice and the food actually tasty. But after seeing someone prepare our burgers and use the same rag to wash their hands as wipe the dingy grill surface, I can't imagine eating there again. I wish bar rescue would save this place, but I think it would be too big a project. It's the only place in that area of Lake LBJ you can boat into. Such a shame. read more

The owners have a very large male German shepherds dog that has not been fixed. He's aggressive and should not be allowed to roam in the restaurant where there are small children and other dogs. They will tell you they are dog friendly, but do not bring your dogs. We took our dog and their German Shepherd dog attacked our dog. The owner did nothing to pull his dog off of our dog and then told us to leave and not come back again with our dogs. I guarantee you we will never come back. read more

Definitely worth the calories! After 5, you can sit on the deck and enjoy perfectly cooked steaks served with homemade beans and creamy potato salad. What a great discovery!!!! My wife and I found this little treasure while enjoying lake LBJ. We could smell some delicious beef being grilled and decided to give it a try. The burgers were huge and we both devoured them quickly while enjoying some cold beverages. The sunset was beautiful and the staff made sure we didn't go thirsty. It is very common to see deer walking down the road in this area. We had such a great time that we came back Saturday for lunch and had the pulled pork. My wife was stuffed but I made sure to save room for ice cream. We spoke with several of the regulars who come every day to hang out and they mentioned that many customers come back every year during vacation. I want to go back and stay in one of the rooms at the resort and rent some jet skis. read more

We go regularly for lunch, and when we pulled up today, they had our usual drinks ready for us. We loved that! I always go for their cheeseburgers and they are amazing. Can't speak for their other food, but I've never had a bad experience here. Yeah they aren't the fastest to serve your food, but we are on lake time here! I love this place and will continue to come here as long as they are here! Also, it's a plus to me to be able to see cute and sweet dogs while I wait for my food. I have traveled extensively and experienced various levels of service...but Georg at this LBJ Resort is the absolute worst I have encountered. Food is highly mediocre and way over priced. Chips and salsa were Sams club chips with pace picante and they charge for them. Only bottled water and they charge about $2 per. Have never been there where the bill for drinks and snacks for 4 or 5 people isn't $140 plus. Docks are in poor condition. They have been the "only show in town" for so long so his attitude has apparently become just take all the money you can from the customer regardless of quality. Try Fornos at LBJ yacht club at dam. Very nice people and much better food. Docks are nicer as well. read more

We have visited often, and have enjoyed our time there. It is not an incredible restaurant but ambience and convenience do matter on the lake. This is one of very few spots. Have had mixed experiences on the meal until today. We ordered the wgayu steak with blue cheese and one regular steak - costly, but that was ok. Ordered med and med rare, both steaks came out very well done, and no bleu cheese. I made statement to wait staff/cook that he had to know these were very well done, but tasty and no bleu cheese. He delivered cold cup of bleu cheese and offered to reduce the cost of steak, and apologized, stating that he also had to work inside making margaritas. He would inquire about reducing cost. That works, returned stating that was impossible, that we either had to accept new steak or nothing.... well if that is the case, this is definitely for the $$$$ not what I ordered, I will accept the steak I ordered. He left to prepare, after the entire party was completely done with the meal, I received my new, very different very rare steak. The first steak was def a rib eye, am not sure why this same "quality" steak was now double in thickness and was not a ribeye but maybe a strip, whatever the case, was again a very different, not well prepared steak - this time with bleu cheese topping. After taking a couple of bites, discussing that it was not worth complaining again to my husband, a waitress that has served us multiple times approached table, I expressed to her that "this has just been the worst steak experience" She then stated we should not pay, I said no that is not the case but that it just wasn't a good experience. The next thing I know George comes out bellowing about how we were to never come in his restaurant, complaining after he gave us 240$ in steaks. Stating that we had said this was the worst steak ever served and that we had changed our order, which was not true. He began mumbling something about the rum was bad and the waitresses were bad - we have yet to identify the meaning in this - I had no rum??? Our waiter and the cook was a man. He said that he would pay for our meal and that we should never return. We insisted that he was overreacting and that in fact we were not trying to not pay, we would just would not order the steak again. I have no idea what really happened and although we continually offered to pay him, he continued to stomp and stammer. I called the girl over, asked her why she didn't say to him what I had actually said. She said that she was so upset with him..... and that she would like to talk to us but would be fired. She also apologized and hurried off. We called the boy that waited on us over and told him that no matter what we wanted to pay him, he motioned that he would not take the money and shrugged. I hope that their problems are worked out - seems the intimidation and or bullying did not suit well. It was obvious that the employees were concerned and afraid of being in trouble. I think is a sad situation - and am clearly confused. I hope that George has a better day tomorrow, and that the cook has the opportunity to only cook. I would normally not post, my husband insisted that we post a statement, and after reading on other posts that George has yelled at and acted aggressively to other patrons, I decided to post this. I am trying to explain an unpleasant event. My husband wants to state that you must be allowed to complain about your food, particularly if it is not what you ordered, and that you shouldn't be bullied and yelled at for expressing service issues. Let's forget about the restaurant for now. Everyone has opinions on food. Some good, some not. Lets just talk about boat service. I took my boat in to simply get a new impeller. After 10 days of hearing nothing, leaving messages with no return calls, I finally reached someone by pretending to want to rent a boat. A storm was coming, I asked if I needed to bring my cover, or would the boat be done before the storm in 3 days. Long story long, I did not need to bring my cover. Another week passes before I finally get my boat back. 21/5 weeks for an impeller. I was never informed that they had a line. That is bad enough, now the good stuff. I get my boat back a complete mess. 1/8inc of dirt all over, plus grease marks I still cant get out. I take it for a spin and it is running terrible. I get another mechanic. He checks the impeller, finds it was never changed. Then he finds damage to the sleeve. So now I have to replace the entire pump. Next I find out when they had my boat, they had it sitting outside in the storm, front end lifted high. Water got in the boat and now have water in my bearings. When they brought my boat back, my neighbor saw my boat go buy at a very high speed with the trim up making a screaming sound like he never heard. That blew my U joints. So now I have a boat that never got the service I took it in for. Now I still need an impeller, now a new pump, a new drive shaft and U joints and bearings. All total about $2,000 worth of damage by taking my boat to George. Never! take your boat here. I know it is hard to find anyone good out here in the area, but this is definitely the worst. They will never again see me in that place. read more

Just moved to the area and tried it since access by boat....it was the most wasteful spend of money on food of my entire life ..it was $100 tab for Ruffles chips, red Barron microwaved pizza, 2 over grilled chicken tenders pretending to be chicken breasts...probably $13 worth of food on a $100 tab..they lost their liquor license, so ok we will just do tea....oh wait..they ran out of tea.? Yes explain that...how do you run out of tea?? I'm surprised they could pass health inspection...other table had a dog (friend of owner) and came over and licked us trying to get our food...they were oblivious to it. The grill is next to tables so smoke is included with your meal...Took 50 minutes for food...owners friends had food immediately, and other table walked out not getting food while we were there too...I can truly say I would have gotten more value and better food by going to convenience store...just saying!!! read more
