    Fried catfish po-boy combo
    Ginger M.

This place is absolutely disgusting! I ordered the fried catfish po-boy with fries and a strawberry shake. Here is the breakdown: Fries- Nothing special, but sadly the best part of my combo meal. I fed it to my dogs. Po-boy- The catfish was under-cooked and not fresh to say the least. I took one bite of the cheap hamburger bun (not the traditional hoagie type style bun for po-boys) and with my first bite I got Bone, yes BONE!!! Nothing more repulsive than biting into a cheap breaded sandwich with under-cooked fish and bone stabbing your gums. This I could NOT feed to my dogs. Strawberry shake- Some blended ice with watered down milk and strawberry Nesquik from my childhood. You'll get a much better shake from Dairy Queen. Please do not eat here or try it at your own risk!

Again, the reason I gave 4 forks rating is that they really need to get a liquor license to service beer, wine, and especially margaritas. Their food is too good to not have this. And please don't say bring it myself. The other recommendation is that they need a Del Mar Enchiladas and En Mole.

Came here on the recommendation from a friend who said it was the "best" Mexican food they have…read moreever had. I don't live close, so it was a bit of a drive to try this place out. The parking seemed to be pretty full but I was still able to find a spot. I was seated immediately even though they were pretty full. I will say they are very clean and the staff is very friendly/attentive. The chips and salsa come out pretty quick. The chips are just okay; taste more store bought than anything else. I am used to chips that are a little saltier. I know I can add salt, but it isn't the same as putting salt right after they come out the the fryer. The salsa is really just a red sauce. It is a bit spicy but not like having a good salsa. Checking the photos, the "Flag Plate" seemed to be a good idea. It's three different enchiladas with rice and beans. And when they say "hot plate" you really need to heed that warning. I don't think my plate ever cooled to a point where I could touch it with my bare hand. But this I did appreciate. Most places, the plate goes cold so quick and the food does as well. For the Flag Plate, one enchilada is cheese, another is a sour cream chicken and the third is "Beef Spanish" whatever that means. I tried the beef and chicken and really wasn't impressed so I just ate the cheese. But speaking of cheese, there certainly is no shortage of that for the entire dish. I'm not not used to enchiladas with the amount of the cheese that goes into theirs. When I have had chicken enchiladas, all my life it has been shredded chicken in a red sauce. This was chunky chicken and some sour cream sauce and again, the heaps of cheese. I was disappointed to find out when I arrived that they are "cash only" and did not see that before. I see now some people did comment on that, but it very rare to encounter a place that is only cash. They do have an ATM inside, but of course, you have to pay a service charge for using the ATM. All in all, it was almost $30 for one person with no drinks (I only had water). For that price and being forced to pay using an ATM I would not come back here. Even had I known the cash only policy up front, I prefer to pay with a card. Less hassle than carrying cash and if you have a card that awards miles or rewards, it's always nicer to use the card. The food was okay but nothing I would go out of my way to eat as I did.

Lunch today at The Dam Grill was especially memorable and satisfying…read more It began with an experience that speaks to the true greatness of America. An elderly, mobility challenged couple parked at the front of the restaurant. The wait staff rushed out and assisted them to a table. Don and Barbara are regulars...I talked to them a bit on my way out. The care I saw happen there talks about the heart of America. It's not the politicians that make this country great...It's the people! It's service like this, that goes above and beyond. It's small, neighborly businesses where the customers become family. It's GOOD people that make this country great. ...And good food only makes it that much better! My meal choice for today was the large Chicken Fried Steak, with green beans, mashed potatoes, cream gravy, roll and sweet tea...your quintessential, thoroughly satisfying, Texas style comfort food. The steak portion was BIG! Big enough that I have AT LEAST one more fine meal coming from the leftovers. The mashed potatoes were smooth, drenched in a generous portion of delightful cream gravy. The DG style green beans are unique and were delicious. The roll was fresh and melt in your mouth good. As for the sweet tea... Well... Let's just say that it was just right! The smoke free restaurant is clean and spacious with plenty of seating. The friendly wait staff stays on the move attending to customer's cups of tea, coffee and sodas. The kitchen gets meals out quickly. The table bussers are meticulous and quiet. Outside, the parking lot has plenty of handicapped access spaces and free general parking galore...with lot's of room for rancher's truck's and trailers. I only have one complaint. In my book, breakfasts like theirs should be available all day long. LOL. Dang good stuff! Friday night is all you can eat catfish. When I want catfish, this is my goto. The fish is tender, succulent fillets and the beans and hush puppies are to die for. If You want a truly satisfying meal at a price that won't break your wallet, the The Dam Grill is right where you need to be. Just sayin'.
