There is a food counter where you order sodas and food and a bar counter where you order all your alcoholic bevs. We've been coming here for years and have tried many things on the menu. We landed on 2-3 fave things we get every time. The order is never incorrect and there are no misses with the meals they turn out. Love their consistency. Recently we were turned on to the shrimp basket...so yummy! The pics of our baskets didn't do the size of the shrimp justice, so had to take one of our take home box. They are HUGE butterflied shrimp with a nice, light batter. Not a fan of their tartar sauce, but other than that, so yummy. It's got a nice covered patio as well as a good amount of outdoor seating on picnic tables, indoor seating and a good sized bar area. You order at the counter at this place and then grab your food when your buzzer goes off. Pretty standard bar menu. I can't remember the name of the burger I ordered but it had grilled jalapeños and a large onion ring on it. Burger was good sized and decent but my only complaint was it was overcooked. Came back for the Queen of Hearts event and it was a lot of fun! Sadly, one of our blue tickets was off by 1 number, so we didn't win, but we had a great time! Tried the Burger Bar food this time too and it was decent. My chicken salad wrap and fries were good. Large portions. We also had a burger (really thick patty) and a club sandwich with tomato basil soup. The bread is too thick on the club (had to take the middle piece out) and it had way too much mayo, but it was still good. Had a few vodka cherry limeades and sat out of the patio to catch the sunset. There were a lot of people there for the event, so it was fun. The bartenders were very professional and the staff that circulates through the restaurant were very attentive. This is more or less self-serve. I went into Boat Town "Burger Bar" for the first time today. I wanted a good burger and heard they had Wagyu burgers. I got my order to go and when the girl was just about to put it in my hands she stopped and said she needed to check something. She spoke with the chef through the order window and he took it back, reopened the burger and added the Aioli substitute I requested. When I home and opened it I was shocked at how messed up it was. Half put back together. The "Wagyu" patty was so overcooked it was dry and chewy. It actually had half wilted BAGGED lettuce and was missing the tomatoes. It was truly awful... and $20!! Food was about average. Service dismally slow. Seating is a challenge. If you dine inside, it's loud and noisy. If you dine outside it's hit or miss with the weather. I waited so long that anything I got tasted good. I waited at least twice as long as it took to eat my food. I should have driven to Marble Falls for lunch with this ridiculous amount of time waiting for about average food. My first experience here resulted in a 1 star rating. If you have to fight for seating after waiting 30 minutes in line to place an order... only to wait even longer to get your meal, then give this place a try. For me, I'm not coming back. I messaged the business; they looked at it and never responded. We basically went out there blind with 20 people...on a holiday weekend. Order at the counter process was simple; we were able to throw a bunch of tables together. Food came out quickly. GF and I both ordered burgers. Her's was basic while I opted for the kicked up version with pico, guacamole, and queso on the side. I asked for med rare and it came out perfect! Kingsland, Texas is a destination for lake houses, boating, fishing, and other outdoor activities offered by Texas Hill Country. These things have a Texas charm to them, though in the humble opinion of a transplanted former East and West coast native, lack the appeal of ocean, mountains, national forest, etc. We joined family in a rented home on the Llano River, visited Longhorn Caverns, and set off fireworks in this unincorporated town. The Boat Town Burger Bar typifies Texas lake culture, offering a menu with burgers, fish, Tex-Mex, and a bar with some cocktails and Texas beers. I ordered a patty melt, a half pound patty on Texas toast with Jalapeno jack cheese and carmelized onions and house aioli. it was juicy, tasty, and filling. Onion rings were seasoned nicely. Ranch for dipping was $0.50, which I'll come back to rant about later. Others had fish & chips, the impossible burger, some other sides and had positive things to say about them. We tried the Cucumber Smash, which was pretty tasty, not too strong, but a little small. I had a Shiner Bock which they offered me in an can until I asked for a glass. Only clear plastic was available. We sat outside at a level below the restaurant where we could see boats coming and going. The sun was on us and it was pleasant despte cooler temperatures. Counter service was fairly smooth, though our particular server was an over talker. Buzzers are provided for retrieving the food, rather than asking for our cell phone numbers, which I appreciate. Ketchup and mustard were offered free of charge, but any salad dressings cost $0.50 for a tiny cup. I have a major issue with this as it seems like the ultimate bean counter move. Like, just figure it into the cost of the dish that if I have fries or rings I'm likely to want to dip them in Ranch and don't charge me extra for a cup that isn't enough to dip the whole portion in. Anywayyyy... Good overall experience. Recommended if you're passing through and looking for hot food with ample portions and outdoor seating during the pandemic. read more
