tried an e-bike for the first time at Pedego Bakersfield and I genuinely did not expect to love it…read moreas much as I did. the staff walked me through everything before I took off, no pressure, no rushing, just actually helpful. they matched me with the right bike for what I wanted to do and made sure I was comfortable before I left. that kind of attention makes a real difference when you're trying something new. the bikes themselves are so fun. the pedal assist is a game changer if you haven't experienced it, you're still pedaling and getting the workout but the hills don't destroy you. I covered way more ground than I would have on a regular bike and honestly had a blast doing it. it's a Wednesday through weekend operation so plan around that but the hours they do have are solid. the Bakersfield location is easy to find and the whole rental process was smooth start to finish. if you're passing through Bakersfield or live there and have been curious about e-bikes, this is the place to try one with zero commitment. I came back the next day and rented again which is the most honest review I can give. really fun experience and great people running it.

Dave answered all questions and invited us down to the shop for a free demo, which we did. We were welcomed by Dave, who went over the bikes and how the worked. We rode around the parking lot a bit. We are old, and it's been a long, long time since we've been on bikes. We did not rent them as my wife felt she needed to up her basic bike skills first. Back to today. We arrived at our our scheduled rental time and were again greeted by Dave. Super friendly, super patient, super easy to work with. He reviewed the bike operation again, set us up with helmets and locks. Explained where to ride and what to do. I thought the rentals were reasonably priced, the bikes are in great shape we had a ball. A long-winded way of saying this place and the staff are great, and it's a very fun outing. If/when we're in the market for an e-bike I'd seriously consider purchasing here just based on service received. Until then, we plan on some more rental rides!

My hubs recently was told by a local that a great place to hike is RHV, which is near the 365…read morehighway and where S. China Lake Blvd meet or end depending on where you're coming from. It can be easy to miss if your coming from out of town, but thankfully there is a tall brown sign that helps you find the right turn in spot. Just a word of advice, if you have a truck or a car that sits higher, definitely take that as opposed to a low riding car. My car sits low and was painful to hear the scratching noise it made while I drove into the parking area and out. There's actually no designated parking lot but you do have the option of parking closer toward the entrance or further in. I wasn't sure exactly how far to go, so I parked near a semi circle where there were a row of rocks and noticed while we were walking, if we went in a little further, we would've found another lot. This was our first time there and I LOVED it! We normally go to RH behind Cerro Coso College, but we've been trying to find alternative routes since we like to let our dog off the lease and there tends to be way more hikers/atv/mountain bike/bikers there. There were a few other cars there but we didn't run into anyone walking. We did see a few bikers, but thankfully there's a couple paths to choose from that lead to similar trails. The only thing I didn't like about this area, which like the other is there aren't any trash cans around. But other than that, there are definitely some challenging trails with steep paths, that seem to go on and on for miles. We also saw a couple piles of shingles, broken bottles, trash, shotgun shells and heard what sounded like loud booms (which I've heard on the other side of RH plenty of times. Now that it's getting warmer and soon, very very hot, make sure you take plenty of water, as there are no water fountains nearby. There is a Shell gas station about a quarter of a mile away, so you can pick up a couple bottles if you forgot your own!

It's so cool to watch a seasoned pro perform their craft. Kerry took one look at my seat and new it wasn't right for the job. Took some measurements, got my seat and bars adjusted, accessed a handful of additional quirks that needed some love, and got me out the door the same day. This all made a huge difference in the feel of my ride and the comfort of my body, and I'm stoked to have such a great resource right around the block from my home. Can't wait to put more hours in the saddle. Thanks again for sharing your time and talent Kerry & team! -AW

I brought my bicycle here when the derailer fell off and the brakes stopped working right. When I…read moredropped it off on Sunday afternoon around 1:30 they said it would be ready on Tuesday. I told them at the service department that the bike would not shift gears going up, that the shifter only worked right when downshifting. Imagine my surprise when they text me less than three hours later saying my bike is ready. It seemed OK, they asked me to ride it in the parking lot. It was 5:50, and they closed in ten minutes. The bike shifted OK for a couple of cycles up and down. As much as I was happy to get the bicycle back the same day, I was not happy after riding it several time and from gears five thru eight still trouble upshifting. I truly wish they had kept the bike until Tuesday, maybe the bike would shift properly. I did not need to get my bicycle back fast as much as I needed to get my bicycle back FIXED.
