Great experience over all. Walked in a waited a little to get seated (checkout lines were long and so we waited), got seated. Got out drinks taken care of, 5 mins later out order. It was great. I had the western omelette and biscuits and gravy. Hubs got eggs sausage links and French toast. Took about 15 mins to get out meals. The worst part was the sudden call from mother nature. Bathrooms were the issue really. Filthy. Unsupervised kids left presents around and on the seat. I get it sometimes parents don't know that their kids make messes in the bathroom, I've been there too. But I always check after my daughter (even now and she's 13) But beyond that it was great!

Very busy, manager older gentleman wearing a half mask incorrectly. Coleslaw minced and lightly sweet- entirely unremarkable. Banana bread side dry and plain. Side rolls were much better- soft, chewy, yeasty. No butter or condiments with my to go order. Honey butter fried chicken had a nice mildly sweet savory flavor but was more like a chicken fried steak patty of chicken than fried chicken with a bone proper. Mac n cheese was artificial tasting with watery fake cheese my sauce and plain elbows without really any texture at all.

I have been here many times and always enjoy my meal and service. I tried the fresh berry french toast today and it was amazing. Our server was very friendly and very accommodating to my one year old. They provided a high chair seat that sat in the booth with me. Last time I was there they had cute little pig and cow stuffed animals. I really wanted to get my boy the pig to go with the cow he already has but they didn't have it anymore.

My niece ordered me a Christmas dinner and it was delicious. It was hot and ready on time we picked it up Christmas Eve.

My friend and I were the only ones in the big restaurant upon arrival. I noticed about 2 different people during the night come in to pick up their to-go order. AMBIANCE -- Cultural music plays in the background. I love all the colourful photos on the wall and the unique light fixtures. FOOD -- I ordered the Mixed Grill ($24.99) - 1 Kafta (beef), 1 Tawook (chicken), and 1 Kabob (lamb) which was served over white rice with 1 tomato, 1 green pepper, and 1 big onion. I don't like onions so I set that aside. The Mixed Grill was a good meal for dinner. It comes in a large plate so it definitely was too much food for me. I gladly took a to-go box home with my leftovers. All the meats were cooked well and tasted good. The lamb was my favourite. The rice served appeared to be a rice pilaf. The complimentary lamb soup was served lukewarm (almost cold) and I didn't like the taste. It's an acquired taste for sure. My friend and I commented that maybe if the lamb soup was warmer that it would have tasted better. I also ordered the Maloog bread as a side dish which is similar to Indian naan bread. The Maloog bread would have tasted better with some butter on it. I asked for butter but the server said she didn't have any. SERVICE -- Complimentary lamb soup was offered and complimentary tea is provided which is nice. The tea is up at the front counter so you serve yourself the tea. The service was good but could be better. The young woman from Afghanistan greeted us at the table with a toothpick in her mouth which was kind of funny but still slightly unprofessional. She laughed and apologized but I said it was fine. I asked for a glass or cup of water and they don't offer that service which was odd. I had to buy a bottled water for $1. Buying the water didn't bother me as it was just $1 but I'm used to most restaurants just offering water on the house. The young hostesses did check on my table a few times which was good. I can see myself ordering food from Dar Alyemen again but I'll get takeout instead of dining in. The neighbourhood where this restaurant is located is a bit secluded. I do love that this is an ethic restaurant that showcases an immigrant business. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 85/250 total reviews in 2026 - 926 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 15 May 2026

Recommended to this place by a friend…read more There was complimentary tea and lamb soup--both quite flavorful. Got the yogurt drink, lamb, side salad, and the malooog bread. The yogurt drink wasn't for me as I'm not used to yogurt that's salty and not sweet at all. I liked everything else. The lamb was so tender and fell off the bone. There was quite a bit of rice that came with it, that we ended up taking it back. A small sized side salad was bigger than I had expected, and it was a crunchy refreshing side to the fatty lamb. Loved how fluffy and big the maloog bread was--definitely worth the price, and perhaps my favorite. Service was decent. Parking available as it has its own parking lot. Overall great food, would consider coming back!

As for everything else, this little diner is definitely locally owned and locally loved. It was only a few minutes from the farm I took my bf to go apple picking on the far east side of Cleveland. FYI!!! - The menu online is incredibly outdated!! Each thing is about 50% more expensive. Use the attached menu pictures to get an accurate idea of prices in late 2025. This is no longer a cheap place to eat. :( After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were sat at the counter right next to the cash register and could hear everything the staff said. I was enlightened as to how terrible they are treated by stingy, entitled customers. I felt terrible about my impatience at getting seated and getting our food but it seems like all the staff and cooks were just burnt out today. They still did a pretty good job at making yummy food though! My bf got a skillet with home fries and wheat toast. This was a lot of food and the toast was very thicccc and very heavily buttered. I ordered a gyro salad with tzaziki sauce and it came with buttered triangles of pita bread. Since we weren't prepared for the price changes, we just got water to drink. We both were shocked at how LARGE the portions were! The gyro meat was so good and the pita bread was nice and lightly buttered. My bf was a huge fan of the sausage in his skillet. Because we didn't want to leave the food in the car for a few hours, we ate everything and did not have leftovers although we could have! Not sure how well my gyro salad would taste as leftovers though so it was probably best I ate everything. Lastly, I made sure to thank them and tip generously. I hope everyone else there did the same. I ended up paying about $42.
