The fish dinner is basically Gordon fish sticks. I can get a whole box at the grocery for what Bob Evans charges. Server was very friendly. Food not worth it.

We waited over 25 minutes before even being greeted by the server. We were sat at a terribly cramped table that was dirty. The food was at best a warm dumpster fire. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

At the western edge of Ohio is the town of Greenville, home to the Green Wave, an awesome consignment store, and one of the most delightful restaurants I've ever been to - Jack's Cabin. Co-owned by Jeremy (J) and Carisa (C), and staffed by their son Austin (A) and Kaylie (K), this is the quintessential family restaurant. I enjoyed their corned beef and eggs, amazing fried flounder and cod - and before heading out from my two day respite in Greenville - their Philly Cheesesteak Skillet. Every dish was a hit, hot, and the perfect comfort foods were one to camp indoors. And like a true family restaurant, I felt fair prices all around, such that I kept coming back and tipping in turn instead! Alongside the black bears that peek all around the room, each table also has a personalized figurine featuring camping awesomeness like fishing, wildlife, and just a general vibe of nature. And hey, with $3.50 Yeunglings, I may have found Baltimore's Ohio sister city. Thank you Jack's Cabin for the amazing, entertaining experience. And Congratulations on your engagement, Kaylie!!!

They were in the fryer so long they were practically charred. The cole slaw seemed almost puréed. My wife ordered grilled chicken tenders. They came out fried and overly cooked. She thought at first bite that they were fish because of the taste. I ordered fish, so it is obvious that everything was fried in the same basket. And the grease/oil has needed to be changed for quite a while. My fish tasted bland and mostly if burnt oil. The fries were over saturated and tasted just like the bland fish. My mother ordered a tenderloin sandwich that also looked burnt to a crisp. Lesson learned here: order NOTHING that goes into a fryer. And apparently order nothing grilled, because it will get fried, too. The wait staff was brand new and was having some trouble figuring out our order. There didn't seem to be any shadowing or training happening. It took a long time for our main dishes to arrive. We did like the unique decor and overall appearance of the restaurant, but that's about the only thing I can give them credit for.

She greeted me right away, and gave me a menu and said sit anyware you'd like. Coffee followed within a minute. When I got my corree, I placed my order. After this is where everything went south. As I sat in the far corner furthest from the counter, I waited for my food. It seemed like 15 minutes of waiting but I was not in a hurry and not concerned. While my coffee cup was empty, everyone else around me was being asked by Ida if they wanted more coffee. All while I continued to wait for my coffee. I could have hollered out, "I'll take some"! Instead, I stayed quiet. It seemed very bizarre that she avioded my table. Finally my food arrives and she said, I will bring you more coffee. I said thank you. As you can see by the photo, my sausage patty was super undercooked, barely edible. My bacon was overcooked but still edible and I got toast although, I did not to have it. As I ate my food, I waited for that 2nd cup of coffee she promised. Still nothing as I took my time eating. She made plenty of rounds to all the tables. Bringing others to-go containers asking everyone again if they wanted more coffee. I probably took 20-30 minutes to eat my food and watched Ida walk everywhere but near my table. She was not delivering food, she started cleaning/ bussing other tables where customer just left. I watched the whole thing, she'd pick up the dirty silverware, the cups, the dirty places, then she whiped the tables all while asking everyone else but me if they needed anything. This is no exaggeration, every table (5) that had a customer was asked if they needed anything or any more coffee. Then she went back to work placing new placemats and silverware on the tables that were empty. As I finished my food, this younger than Ida server asked me if I wanted more coffee. I said yes and he came back right away. Ah, more coffee. I drank it slow just to see how long it would take for Ida to return. After another empty cup, that same (not Ida) server returned and asked me if I wanted more coffee. I said no thank you. I continued to finish what was left in my cup while trying to wrap my head around this horrible service I received? The undercooked sausage while everyone elses sausage was nice and dark brown the way it should be. The toast that I did not ask for and my check confirmed she wrote no toast but brought me toast anyways. No bigger, its just a waste of food that I do not eat. As I stood up, she finally comes over and asks me how my meal was, I said fine minus the toast I did not ask for. She barked back, That wasn't my fault. Very defense like. Well as my server who took my order, the server who brought me the meal and knew it was mine, could not remember this? While I appreciate the 2nd servers efforts, it was a little too late to recover from the bad service and feeling like I was specifically being targeted because of my color of my skin. Why do I feel this way? Because no server can ask that many customers, approximately 20 times if they need something, and forget to ask one table.

Bacon egg and cheese omelette or a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on toast. Five dollars. The kind of place with a few locals sitting at a booth having their morning coffee, one of the waitresses offering Jim the last donut because they know he will want it. He accepts it. This is, in my mind, a classic American small town diner. The kind of place I grew up, eating in my hometown of 500 people. It's not high cuisine, there's nothing fancy about the food although I did come across a few things I had never seen before on the menu. Fried mush. Meat grits specials, like the scuttle butt and the chili Bob. An age old, but perfected recipe of eggs, meat, cheese, and a starch either potatoes ( homefries) or toast. The coffee is weak and not much flavor to it but, to be honest, it's exactly what you would expect in a place like this and there's something comforting about that. Honest, simple food made day and a day out, catering to the local crowd and a few roadway, travelers like myself who happen to come across it. There's a certain charm and depth to places like this that have been lived in day and day out by the same people for decades. For those like up rounded, there's the nostalgia and connection to the many other people having the same experience day after day in communities across the United States. Forgive me if I wax nostalgia can get a little sentimental here, but this morning's dining experience definitely elicited that for me. I hope you can find your own version of this sometime today or in the near future.

While I was picking up my order, I grabbed some chocolate chip cookies, a snickerdoodle and an oatmeal one as well as a piece(?) of carrot cake- I question it being a piece because it was HUGE, and for such a small amount of money! Let me tell you- my food, even after a 30 minute car ride + time getting my son situated once we got home, was DELICIOUS! My order was the avocado toast and if scrambled eggs and avocado still taste great after that much time- you KNOW that's saying something. The pretzel bread, oh my word, wasn't soggy, was firm, was DELICIOUS. The fried pancake bites- wow, it was like fair food meets breakfast and not much can top that combination. My 3 year old son even tried them and then asked for more- again, parents of picky eaters will know, that's saying A LOT! My husband had the biscuits and gravy, he said it was delicious! I'll note what I appreciated about that is being a to-go order, they packaged the gravy up in a plastic container so it wouldn't get the biscuits soggy- I always appreciate a place that takes the extra time to accommodate orders. Now, the pièce de résistance, the cinnamon rolls. Being full from all the food I gobbled up, I had to save these GIANT cinnamon rolls for the next day and the next day- without a doubt, the BEST cinnamon rolls I have ever had! Hands down. 30 seconds in the microwave and oh my gosh, insanely delicious. The cookies were also SO good!! My husband said it was the best snickerdoodle cookie he's ever had, I can't confirm because he didn't share with me, which might actually just confirm it was- normally he would give me a bite. The oatmeal cookie I had was SO stinking good- the best I've ever had too! Carrot cake was delicious as well! This was my first time here- placing a take out order was effortless and easy even when you could clearly hear that the place was super busy- as it should be! I can't wait to come back and especially can't wait to have more of their cinnamon rolls. *drool*
