Poured my coffee took my order and I realized no creamer. I asked for it and was given the option of French Vanilla or milk from the gallon jug which was poured into a plastic drinking cup and given to me. lol My ham and cheese omelet with home potatoes was excellent. My girl and I were in a rush to get somewhere by 6:30 am and noticed this place was the only breakfast restaurant open at 5:30 am so we decided to stop in here for breakfast. This place is definitely a local diner type place. Has wood paneling and old tables. Ambience is that of a Waffle House. When we walked in there was one (very hard working) lady that was waiting tables, cooking, bussing and cleaning the restaurant. Regardless of all that she had on her plate (hah, see what I did there ;) ) she was very attentive to us and got us drinks and menus shortly after we sat down. We let her know what we were in a rush and would order shortly. She came over, took our order and off to cook it she went. We waited only about 10-15 minutes and our food was out! Now.. the only reason this place is getting a 4/5 is because it is such cheaply priced food but the quality is what you pay for. I teetered between a 3 and a 4 but because of the pricing I had to give it a 4. The food was nothing special and tasted decent. The home fries were probably the best. We asked for them to be extra crispy and they came out perfect. If you're looking for a small home town diner with a Waffle House type food that's open at 5:30 am.. this is your spot. We wouldn't come back here if we were looking for high quality breakfast though. read more

My father lives in Sidney and I wanted to meet him somewhere that was locally owned, not a chain restaurant. It appeared to get good reviews so I chose to have brunch here with my dad and husband. Dad ordered shrimp and mushrooms, both be breaded and fried. My husband ordered an ham and cheese omelet and French fries. I ordered biscuits gravy and hash browns. Both my father and husband enjoyed their meals. They said the were very good. My meal, however, was pretty bland. I used lots of salt and pepper. Potatoes were pretty mushy and I expected them to be crispy since they were fried. My dad said they were good, though, so I guess it's just my own personnel taste. All three meals and drinks came to $31, which was very reasonable. HOWEVER, this place needs to spend some of their $$ renovating. Walls are buckling, accessories are very dated, furniture is unattractive, wires run across the wall in women's restroom, floor is unlevel. I appreciate that many people like it for the large portions and low prices. I guess if that's your priority then this is the place for you. read more

Definitely a local hangout and very friendly. We like smaller non chain restaurants that are tried and true. They have been in business for over 50 years. We were having our Airstream repaired at the nearby factory and one of the employees recommended this place and we are so glad they did. Real home cooked food for very reasonable prices served hot and with a smile. The server Tiffany could not have been nicer. The locals were super friendly and welcoming. The decor is outdated but I'm there for the food. They open at 5:30 and close at 3:00. We ordered the breakfast specials but the strawberry pie was calling us - maybe next time. Just passing through Sidney on way elsewhere. Found "The Alcove " on Yelp. It was a great experience. Breakfast all day hit my spot. Tiffany our server was perfect. Good recommendations and secret about the biscuits, they fall apart. They were exceptional with gravy, eggs easy and sausage links. My coffee cup was never empty. This place is a greasy spoon- enough said !! Ordered eggs, home fries and pancakes. Food was good, not great- nothing special. This is without a doubt my favorite breakfast spot anywhere, ever! The portions are huge and the cost is tiny.... breakfast special every day is : 2 eggs, bacon/ham/sausage(patty or link but patty is best) toast/pancake, hasbrowns/homefries, and a drink cost $6.15. If that isn't enough to atleast try it I don't know what else to say. Onlt small issue is its closed by like 2pm and it's an old old building. But def worth every cent and your time to try out. read more

It's not fancy but they make a damn good breakfast! Go early and catch up with the local farmers and head over to the farmers market around the square on Saturdays. Breakfast special can feed an army and it's under 7bucks. This place is always a stop when I'm passing through Sidney. read more
