I bought my last vehicle here and always bring it in for service as needed. Each time I come in, the staff is super friendly and helpful, wanting to ensure my personal experience is great. I can see that demeanor in everyone I come across. For today, it was a simple key fob battery replacement, which took a total of 5 minutes. In addition, the Service Manager looked up all recalls I had and let me know how much time it would take when I bring my Mustang back. Again, super helpful and I did that knowledge exchange while I was waiting on my fob battery replacement. Now that I know the duration they will need to service the car, it was very easy for me to schedule an appointment yet this week. Took my vehicle in for power steering issues. While they did fix the power steering, after getting my vehicle home the remote start no longer worked. I do have an older vehicle but have never had an issue with the remote start. Called the day after picking up my vehicle to address the issue and tell them they messed up my remote start but had to make an appointment. Of course they could not fix the remote start but did charge money to look at the problem. They blamed it on my older vehicle. Just a coincidence that the remote start didn't work after they fixed the power steering. Treated me like I was a dumb women, insulting my intelligence. I hate taking anything to the dealer for repairs but had no choice on this repair. Now I no longer have my remote start and I am out another $130.00. Once it was "done" there were multiple problems still wrong with my vehicle which resulted me in taking it somewhere else and having other places fix there problems. I needed some repairs to my truck after an argument with a utility. My insurer, Progressive, suggested I use Bob Maxey as it's the only repairer in their network and in my town. I drove over there on a Friday, mid-afternoon. The collision office had three staff members, one of whom spoke with me. The others never looked up from their computers screens. I explained what I needed - an estimate. She asked the other two if they had time but neither of them responded so she told me they were all too busy, and would I like to make an appointment for the following week. I said no, I was giving them a chance for the business and would not be driving out there again. She said "OK. Bye, then" and I left. Incredible way to run a business. Really disappointed with Bob Maxey of Howell. Just paid for The Works package and got my car back with 28psi in the tires when I should have 34psi. They were getting low then dipped pretty low since the winter cold hit, but knew I had an oil change scheduled. I've had oil changes here for quite some time for the ease of scheduling and with the office workspace while you wait, but they clearly didn't even check the pressure if it was this low. How do I really know they didn't just stop at a basic oil change? Did they really do everything else like tire rotation? My husband had the same thing happen to his truck a couple oil changes back, he complained he brought his truck back in while driving by, and then overfilled his tires, and put on a different cap that didn't match the 3 tires others. They lost him has a customer for this, I continued to go, but now they've lost me as a customer too. read more

Physical damage was done while it was in shop. They refuse to accept any responsibility for this damage or the way my car was returned. One excuse after another. If I could leave this place zero stars I would. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday, to have a wheel bearing replaced. Simple job. I was willing to pay a premium price to have it replaced at the dealership, because I was promised that my vehicle would be ready the next day. Here we are four days later and all I've gotten are false promises every single day that it would be ready, and it never was. The service tech was non-communicative, never once called to update me - I had to reach out myself every day for updates. When I did speak with him, he gave me the same story.... that my vehicle would be ready "today" and finally, when it was apparent that wasn't going to happen, I was promised a rental for the weekend. Then, while I'm waiting to get picked up to get my rental - they call me back and tell me they can't give me a rental & they told me to come pick up my -NOT FIXED- vehicle, so I'll have something to drive for the weekend. Literally unbelievable. They just had my car sitting there for four days & did absolutely nothing while I lost wages at work and paid at least a couple hundred dollars in Ubers to get around. The most unprofessional experience I've ever had with a dealership, or any business ever. The absolute worst service I've ever had - if you can even call it that, because they didn't actually service anything. I was told by the salesman that if the car came in - in 7 months, and the price was higher, I would not owe the difference and my lease payment would remain as agreed. Car came in, tried to charge me $30 more per month. They admitted they made a mistake but they would not give me the car for agreed upon price. Look for Kenny Ostin, he will take care of you. I got a used 06 f150 and the engine went out on the first day off the lot. Really really not cool. The car had good maintenance records and had been serviced at Bob Maxey. Instead of leaving me stranded and in debt, the owner and Kenny are making sure that the car gets a brand new engine with a three year warranty. This is what I expect from a quality establishment. I hope to be able to continue to post positive reviews about my experience. I will update if all goes well with the engine swap. I expect quality and mistakes do happen. I began my car search with extensive research, as well as consultation with individuals who work in the automotive field. I contacted Bob Maxey on Monday, February 13 regarding a silver 2014 Ford Focus, and made an appointment for Wednesday, February 15 to test drive that vehicle. After making a trip out to the dealership I learned that the Focus I wanted was not available because it was either undergoing maintenance or being detailed. I was given the opportunity to test drive a red 2014 Focus, but was informed that I would have to return the next day to move forward with the sales process due to the dealership closing. During email correspondence on February 15 I made clear that I was interested in the silver 2014 Focus. I was then informed that that vehicle had been sold on February 9th. I was extremely aggravated because the dealership had several days from the point of contact to inform me that the vehicle I wanted was unavailable. I considered this a waste of my time, and a ploy to get customers physically into the dealership under the false assumption that the vehicle that they had researched online would be available for purchase. I will add here, that as of the posting of this review (2-20-2017) the silver 2014 Focus is still listed as available on Bob Maxey's website inventory. Willing to provide the benefit of the doubt, I continued working with the sales consultant for a short time. When I asked direct questions about the price of the various vehicles that the sales consultant thought would be a good fit for me, the sales consultant "didn't know", despite having a print out of the vehicle details on his desk. I considered this another waste of my time - a negotiating tactic designed to obfuscate the fact that the price was outside my range. When I was eventually told the price of the vehicle - only after a long-winded explanation of features and details that I already knew about or had no interest in - I explained that I was not interested because, as expected, it was outside my range. The sales consultant would then step away from his desk to speak with his manager in classic "Hot Potato" or "Good Cop/Bad Cop" negotiating strategy, and return with another price that was still above my price range. Sales Consultant: "I really worked hard with my manager to get the price down for you, so how about $XX,XXX?" "My manager never does this, but he's gonna knock off another $X,XXX. I went to bat for you, and this is a great deal." The sales consultant had no regard for my specified price range and was completely committed to running through classic car salesman negotiating tactics. I was quite clearly the "You and I are on a team against my boss" reciprocity tactic - either that, or the sales consultant wasn't authorized to negotiate with buyers, which was yet another complete waste of my time. If this dealership had honored my original interest in the vehicle I had previously researched, or offered a similar vehicle with similar mileage at the same price, this would have been the easiest sale of the year. Instead, it seems that this dealership is committed to the same tired car salesman tactics that have always been designed to wear down and squeeze extra pennies out of car buyers. I took my trade-in, drove directly to another dealer, got a vehicle that suited my exact needs for the price that I wanted, and experienced zero waste of time. Bob Maxey seems to be exactly the type of dealership that gives used car dealerships the notorious reputation that they have for taking advantage of customers. read more

Update 10-18-2016. I met with Mike Maxey at his office at his request. He would not cooperate and was aware that I did not voluntarily offer to have my credit pulled 7 times. He and one of his workers provided a letter to the credit bureas allowing for a formal complaint to remove inquires. He wanted not to be blamed and would include the letter but not on his letter head or from his dealership. I can assume I know why, and the readers do as well. I would not recommend Mike Maxey to anyone to go and buy a car from. He involved himself and his dealership in this deceptive and unclear banking practice. I will update when this goes further. The only thing Mike cared about was his name online, not about me and what has happened to my credit report because of the dealership continuing to pull my credit without letting me know and making me aware, when I asked for it only to be ran once. The state banking commission needs to be aware of these practices along with people shopping for cars. read more

I've now had experiences with the dealership, service department, and the collision centers! The dealership has GREAT associates! New, online, and used car sales people are all fantastic! I had my oil changed a couple of months ago, and they worked around my schedule so that it was convenient for me, not just them! My most recent experience was with the collision center. No one likes being in an accident. They made it quick and easy. Dropped off my car, and my insurance company had coordinated with the shop to have a rental ready for me. When all the repairs were done, I drove up in my rental and left it there. Convenience at it's greatest! read more

His knowledge, eagerness to help and just all-around great personality have been a constant since we first met when I was a teenager. From my '92 Topaz, to the beloved Mustang I just traded for a more family-friendly Escape Titanium, each vehicle I've purchased has marked a significant milestone in my life, and he's always been there with a smile & great advice. Needless to say, Brian has a customer for life in me. Dropped of the car for warranty service work the night before and spent 20 minutes with advisor while they typed up the information/invoice for the work. Next day I did not hear a word. Texted them at the end of the day since they said they communicate via text with progress of work and when car would be ready. Did not text back. Had to give them a call. Women who answered the phone was laughing so hard she could not speak. Transferred me to service and first person had no idea about car. Transferred again and this person said "oh let me check because I came in late and could not find any paperwork on this vehicle". Really?? On hold and then transferred again. Finally they said the car was done around noon that day. Waited all day for this. Went to pick up car and was told that it was out front. Of course, went out front and it was not there. Back in again. Saw a porter who remarked "not out there, is it?". He offered to retrieve the car and asked if I wanted a car wash. Really? You have had the car all day. No to the car wash, just bring me my car. Not impressed at all. read more

I purchased my first Ford vehicle today at the age of 65, and possibly my last. The salesman was great to deal with, and that was a very good experience. However, I was shocked and insulted when I was ushered into the finance and insurance office (I didn't even finance the vehicle). I soon figured out that his objective was to make sure I didn't leave his office without purchasing an extended warranty. I told him twice that I wasn't interested--I don't purchase extended warranties. He refused to listen, then began the strong-arm tactics and asked me if I would be willing to forego the Ford 36-month 30,000 mile warranty if he would deduct $1595.00 (the purchase price of the extended warranty) from the purchase price of the vehicle. I was insulted and outraged at his attempt to strong-arm and trap me with this approach. A friend who was with me told him off, and we both walked out. This one person has soured what had been a good experience with this new vehicle purchase, and I have two questions for Ford Motor Company: Does Ford condone these corrupt (and possibly illegal) tactics, and does this employee have the authority to void Ford's new-car warranty and give a rebate customers who are willing to forego it? read more

I purchased a used car with help from Michael Cain. The experience was okay. I felt he was very eager to help me and communicated frequently. However, I feel he really missed some opportunities to sell the car and I was delighted to find that it had options I wanted after purchasing. This was my first experience buying from a dealership and as a woman in her thirties expected some sexist comments here and there and overlooked a few and a lot of over helping. Once I had signed all the paperwork and was waiting in the office for the title and such is when it really hit the fan. Michael asked me if I needed to rush home to make sure dinner was ready for my husband when he gets home. Another salesman that was across the room felt the need to yell over and ask me what my tattoo was of, a quarter sized tattoo that about 1/10 of was visible. I am updating my previous review. I have to correct it because Bob Maxey has done everything they can to help us correct a difficult situation. I cannot say enough about our salesperson, Jenny, and how hard she went to bat for us. She never complained, got short with us or dropped the ball. Jenny and Bob Maxey Ford (used cars) have reimbursed us for half of the labor cost of repairing the car I purchased (and if you see below they also fixed my air conditioner condenser for $100 instead of $600) all without purchasing a warranty! Bob Maxey and Jenny have really pulled through and I am so thankful that I have a beautiful, reliable car again! If you want to work with someone who is honest and willing to take responsibility when needed, Bob Maxey is the place and my family and I are partial to Jenny ;) if you need a salesperson! First of all, I wouldnt recommended Bob Maxey Ford to anyone. My brother in law purchased a used Ford F150 from them in December, our first snow he found out the 4x4 didnt work. They did fix that (he had tge truck a week). Then after he made his first payment, the truck just stopped running. Being a disabled vet on disbability, he is on a fixed income. He called Bob Maxey to let them know about the truck and to see if they could help him out, (at this point he hadnt had the truck 60 days). They offered him a free diagnostic test, but he had to pay for the work. They sold him a piece of shit and act like their job is done. Make this right, he can't afford the work that needs to be done and that Bob Maxey needs to make right!!! He isnt asking for a handout, he bought a vehicle that was suppose to be dependable and not even 30 days doesnt run!! Shame on you Bob Maxey!!! read more

I was looking for a truck, so I submitted an inquiry online. A lady reached out to me about a "sale", but on the wrong truck. I corrected her to the right truck, she said that one had a sale too. I sent her the VIN to confirm the sale and she did then just never responded to the next 4 emails. I called the dealership and asked about the truck to one of the sales guys and he was a little rude about it and just insisted it was a mistake and that sale never existed. Set appointment with Tracie Neff at Bob Maxey Ford for Monday Nov 11th. Needed to check on noise that was heard on front right and rear right of wheels when turning. Said I have the premium Care plan and its soon to expire could you check other areas? She replied no you must be specific in your request. OK Dropped off car Sunday night and received text Monday morning that car was being looked at. Great. Was informed they could find nothing wrong...ok We talked and I asked to have an oil change said sure and would you like tires rotated sure.... Here's where it all went badly.....Keep in mind it snowed all day Monday and Monday night . I arrived to pick up my car at 10:13am and was informed that it was $54.80 for the oil change. I responded that I have the Premium Care Plan... oh, ok you owe nothing. I asked how many more oil changes do I have she said 2 remaining. thanks. She sent the Porter for my car. At 10:30am I went back in the service area and said... is the gentlemen ok he's not come back with my car yet. I was concerned. She asked me what my vehicle was and went looking for him and the vehicle. She came back 5 minutes later and said he cleaning out your car because its full of SNOW. (at least your car seats are clean lol) says Tracie. They left the window partially opened. I have pictures. Finally at 10:43am....half an hour later the car, the Porter, Tracie and another gentlemen were out front installing an air filter. I guess I get that because I have a Premium Care Plan. So now I 'm a bit irritated when I opened the car door and there was snow everywhere even though the Porter tried to get it all out. So after all of this I was curious as to how they didn't know I had the Premium Plan when its on record and I told her..... They shouldn't have tried to charge me and the filter should have been put in yesterday...her response... I can't be expected to remember you saying that when you called. Ok, but it is part of my service record I told her I was disappointed and that this snow in the car is embarrassing . She finally said she was sorry and for the 3rd time said to me "you didn't have to pay for anything" I responded that's NOT the point. AND by the way I did pay for that oil change.... the Premium Care Plan cost me $1810. Bob Maxey lost a customer. Update: I would like to update this post due to the fact that Mr. Maxey did in fact meet with us tonight. Mr. Maxey was polite and professional. We appreciated him taking some time on this situation. He did express that he thought this was an unusual situation to have this much work needed on a vehicle with only 61,000 miles. Mr. Maxey did clarify the certification process and explained that they do not have a Bob Maxey certification but an inspection process. So our vehicle was inspected by their dealership not certified by their dealership. I misunderstood the difference between a certified vehicle and an inspected vehicle. We were curious to see the inspection papers for our vehicle prior to our purchase but he stated that those are internal documents that can not be shared. Mr. Maxey stated that they spoke with Ford and Ford will not help with this matter. He did recognize that the brakes and rotors should not have had to be done only 5 months later so he is sending us a check to reimburse us $392.00 for the brakes and rotors. Mr. Maxey also offered to do the repairs for $3000 instead of the $4000 estimate. We are still frustrated that we are left with a vehicle that needs so much work, but appreciated the time he gave us tonite. To all my friends and family!! Stay clear of Bob Maxey Ford in Howell! They sold us a 2013 Ford Flex 9 months ago. Told us it was a certified vehicle. We are at 61,500 miles and started having problems. We brought it in and they are saying it needs around $4000 worth of work in the engine on the timing chain and suspension issues. We bought an extended warranty but it expired a couple thousand miles ago and the power train warranty expired 1,500 miles ago. We asked about it being certified and they explained that it is Bob Maxey certified not Ford certified. A Ford certified would have covered it to 100,000 miles but a Bob Maxey certified doesn't cover anything. We had no idea there is a difference. They didn't clarify that information when we bought it. We have drove this car a total of 20,000 miles and already had to replace the brakes and rotors 5 months after buying it. They sold us a lemon and aren't willing to do anything to help. Due the absolute condescending attitude of the service manager Dan and the "all talk, no action" of our sales guy Greg, we got Mike Maxey involved and he is going to "see" what Ford will do to help. I went in for an oil change/tire rotation and some rattling in my car. I was so impressed with their renovations! They did a beautiful job. The waiting room was really nice with drinks, snacks, and free wifi. I was done in just over an hour. My car is back to normal and done well. Everyone was very nice and kept me updated. I had a great experience from beginning to end. When I first called to schedule service, the service advisor was very friendly and was able to promptly schedule my service. I was impressed when I brought the car how quickly I was processed and sent on my way for the day. The service advisor I dealt with on the day of service professional , friendly, knowledgeable, and I have to say, gave me one of the best experiences I have ever had with a service department at a dealership. Despite the fact that he thought he might not be able to locate one part until the next day, he did find it and my vehicle was ready to go on the day I brought it in!
