I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee from Szott-M59 Chrysler Dodge Ram, and the very next day the engine light and oil light came on. I immediately took it to an oil shop, assuming it might be something simple. Turns out it was anything but. The car was retaining NO oil because the oil filter housing unit was broken and the filter itself was loose. Let that sink in. The mechanic was flabbergasted and flat-out said he could not believe a dealership sold a vehicle in this condition. This wasn't a minor oversight -- this was a serious mechanical issue that could have destroyed the engine if I had driven it any longer. This tells me one of two things: 1. The vehicle was never properly inspected, or 2. It was inspected and sold anyway. Either option is unacceptable. Buying a car should not come with immediate warning lights and a risk of catastrophic engine damage. I trusted this dealership and now I'm left dealing with stress, repairs, and wondering what else was ignored. I would strongly caution anyone considering buying from [Dealership Name] to think twice and get an independent inspection -- clearly, theirs can't be trusted. Had vehicle in 3 times to get tires rotated. Had them rotated there 10,000 miles ago. To many issues to mention, including ordering and paying for a new wheel lock 7 weeks ago that "mysteriously" never came in. The service manager even admitted to us that when they rotate the tires they apply too much pressure and strip things. Long story short....3 trips and the job is still not completed. read more

Service department is an absolutely joke. They have had my truck for 3 weeks for some repairs They finally called saying it was ready to be picked up. Jumped in my truck, and the check engine is on. I drove it 200 ft directly back into the shop. Service guy plugs his computer in, and says "it's throwing all kinds of different codes". Knowing something wasn't right, I started my truck again while the service department was trying to figure out why the check engine light is on. As I start it, the truck shakes and has a loud grinding of metal comes from the engine compartment. Needless to say, after 3 weeks the truck is still not fixed. **as a side note, the dealer did give me a rental vehicle to use after the first 2 weeks of repairs....rental vehicle or not, 3 weeks and the truck STILL isn't fixed, is ridiculous** read more

My recent experience with the sales department at this dealership was nothing short of terrible. I went in to look at options, run some numbers on buying a new vehicle. No intention of taking anything home that day. The salesman and finance manger were very pushy in trying to get the sale. The next day I'm getting texts from the salesman, again being pushy and I'd go so far to say rude when he asked "why did I even show up?" I will never be returning to this dealership! read more

After a dismal, terrible, "I will never buy an FCA vehicle again" experience over at Shuman's service department, I absolutely dreaded what was in store for me when my Charger's alternator decided to die on me. Szott was close to my house, so I had it towed there. The difference was like night and day. Dave seemed interested in what I was saying, and getting written up was simple. I mentioned that I was two months, 2,500 miles out of my original new car warranty, and asked if I should start making my plea to FCA. He suggested waiting it out. Imagine my surprise when I got a call saying that they had diagnosed the problem and also called FCA on my behalf. I was floored. A few days later, my car was fixed, and there were no nasty "oh, we also found your car needs this..." or "well, we didn't include these fees" surprises. Even better (at least, relative to every experience I've had at Shuman), my car was actually fixed, and they didn't break anything in the process of fixing it. My sales experience there wasn't the greatest a few years ago (hence the purchase at Shuman), but the service experience I had a couple of days ago was probably the best I've ever had from any dealership. read more

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience here. So much so that I won't send any family/friends at all by the way we were treated. We stopped by on a Saturday to look at two different vehicles. Ed approached us to 'help'. His attitude from the start seemed like he was annoyed he had to help us and was irritated. He shook my husbands hand but didn't even acknowledge me or ask my name, so at first I thought that was rude especially since the vehicle was for me. Secondly, he didn't seem to know his inventory. I asked for a Jeep or Journey and said I wanted leather...he started going up to all his Jeeps/Journeys on the lot and looking through the windows saying, "nope, no leather... not this one either, nope" and then said he doesn't have anything. Instead of saying something like he can look to see if he can get something in or even asking me more questions if I had time to wait, etc. I then told him that I am not in a hurry to buy and can wait to get something that fits my criteria but I would really like to test drive a Journey and Jeep to get a feel so I can see which one I like better. He then said they don't like when people drive the vehicles b/c that puts miles on the cars and depreciates them and so people can drive what they will buy. And then asked me which one I will buy. I told him how would I know what I am going to purchase unless I drive the vehicles? I wanted to go down the road for a test drive, not take this on a journey across the US. I've NEVER heard a dealership deny someone a test drive and say it puts 'miles on the car'. That was absurd. Buying a car is a big purchase. I'm supposed to spend $30k but am not allowed to drive the car? He then went inside then came back out and said, "they said you could drive it." I'm not sure who 'they' is or if he just decided to let us drive the Jeep. He asked if we would "be long" with it. Just rude all around. We took the Jeep and really liked it. We came back 10 minutes later and I had my husband go inside and drop off the keys while I waited in the car to leave since I was appalled by the sales persons attitude and demeanor. I'm not sure if this is the reputation this dealership has and it's unfortunate we had this bad experience from Ed, so much that we won't go back. It was a waste or our time and gas money to drive here we felt. Ed ruined our experience at Szott and gave it a bad name for us. read more

I just got home from making a purchase at Szott Dodge. My sales experience with Josh Cross was A1 from the outset. I called on the phone and asked for a quote on a Ram 1500. I know most dealers probably hate quoting over the phone and in fact I called 2 other prior to contacting Szott and they didn't return the call. Josh did call back with a very good deal. We set up an appointment and he showed me the truck and thoroughly went over all the features prior to signing any paperwork. The price ended up being as quoted over the phone. Additionally Szott threw in several items for which I did not have to pay. I live in Macomb and it was certainly worth the drive. They will even be delivering the truck today. read more

When I bought my car from Szott, I didn't have the greatest experience in the world. I was kind of surprised because on other sites they have generally favorable reviews. They happened to have a used vehicle I really wanted, which is why I stuck with them despite my experience. After I purchased the vehicle I posted a negative review about my experience, and within 24 hours they contacted me to apologize and also see what they could do to. I love these guys! I drive all the way from livonia just to get my oil changed. I bought my jeep from them in August 2013 and from the salesman to the finance guy to the mechanics everyone treated me great! They made my experience the best they could and I will continue to buy my cars from them now and forever! Anytime I've had an issue with my jeep wether it be a light on the dashboard to a noise I can't explain the mechanics have always been patient and kind to me. I'll be honest here.....I HATE BUYING NEW VEHICLES!!!! I've always felt as though every salesperson was just out for themselves trying to make a buck with absolutely no regard for their customers. Apparently, I have been going to the wrong dealerships because never once did I feel as though I wasn't a high priority to the fine people at Szott. On my first visit, I showed up with my 4 year old son and the guys at Szott were incredible. They entertained my son so I could focus on my task at hand. I had several trips to Szott before making my purchase and Ed Rogin was my salesman. He put forth a tremendous effort to put me behind the wheel of my new Jeep. It is a great vehicle and was sold to me at a great price. In a few years, I'll definitely be going back to Szott for my next new vehicle...... In fact, I am going to bring my parents in to meet Ed as they are looking for a new SUV. It is incredibly rare for me to post a review, in fact, this is only my second time. In order for me to take the time to write out a review, the service would have to be horrendous or absolutely incredible. The guy at Szott (especially Ed) definitely knocked it out of the park which is why I'm posting this. I highly recommend this dealership and I'd give more stars if I had that option.
