I typically don't take the time to write a review, but in this case I need to.
Twice now I have been given free advice from Bill, the owner, that not only was right on, but saved me money. The first was a few years back when he was temporarily working from the Shell station while his shop was being rebuilt. My truck had suddenly lost oil pressure on my drive home. I drove it straight to him, he checked it out, hooked up a mechanical pressure gauge, told me the bottom half of the motor was getting enough oil, and the tick that had almost instantly developed were the lifters that were a little starved for oil (at least that's how I remember it) Anyhow, he told me with the 150,000 miles I had on the truck, he'd recommend changing the oil and adding a quart of oil stabilizer at every change, said I could spend a bunch of money now pulling the front half of the motor off to replace the oil pump, or I might be lucky and get another 100,000 miles out of it. Well, I still have the old truck, and even though it hasn't been my daily driver for 2 years, it still ticks, but runs like a champ, and I've put over 110,000 miles on it since that day. To top it off, he didn't even charge me to look at it. That day he earn my business. Thankfully I have only had a couple of reasons to visit them since then. Each time I felt like I was being treated fairly, never felt like they tried to up-sell services. Only fixed what needed to be fixed.
This morning I called Bill because my '68 Coronet was bogging down at highway speeds. I did some internet investigating on the possible cause, even asked on a Mopar forum what the cause might be. Received several suggestions from the forum, most of which were beyond my mechanical abilities. But when I described the problem to Bill, he instantly said, "change your fuel filter". I thought it couldn't be that simple and told him if it didn't work, I'd make an appointment to bring it in. He replied, "nah, it's your fuel filter, change it, you'll be all set"
I did. He was right. $5.19 later the car is blasting down the highway, running strong.
The point of that story is not that he is the only guy that could figure out the problem, I'm sure a bunch of guys would have known that right away. The point is he could have had me bring it in, charge me whatever diagnosis fee he wanted, told me whatever horror story he wanted, charged me a fortune to fix some bogus problem.... but he didn't. He was honest, solved my problem, reaffirmed my trust in his shop, and somehow inspired me to type out this rambling review that none of you probably got to the end of. I hope you did. read more
