My sisters and I are visiting Duluth from Raleigh, NC and we randomly stopped by at Boba Mocha to get some bubble tea. This place has one of the best ratings around here, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered Peach, Honeydew, and Strawberry smoothie with boba. They were all very refreshing and fresh. We can definitely tell that smoothies are freshly made with fruits! I also loved how clean and cute the indoor seating area was. There were various sizes of sofas and chair for many different groups. Boba Mocha is a relatively new bubble tea + desert cafe that opened September 2012 on Pleasant Hill Rd. in Duluth. With so many competitors in the surrounding area (Hansel & Gretel, White Windmill, Quickly, Vincent, arte3cafe, Mozart, Lattea, SunO, 7 Coffee & Wine, etc.), I really wonder if Boba Mocha will be able to survive. It eerily reminds me of Mr. Tea House, which opened in front of the nearby H Mart in 2011, and didn't last for more than a year (maybe not even six months). Boba Mocha seems to be all over the map. In addition to serving bubble tea, they also source pastries and treats from White Windmill, cheesecakes and other desserts from The Cheesecake factory, and sell bottled refrigerated products such as Coke, Monster Energy drinks, and Starbucks frappes. They also have a case full of ice cream and sell their own store-made snacks such as muffins, croissants, cookies, pound cakes, samosas, fries, chicken nuggets, and wings. Bubble teas are $2.50 for a small and $3.50 for a regular (large). These prices are mostly in line with competitors. They offer 12 different flavors of bubble tea including taro, strawberry, mango, peach, passion fruit, milk tea, jasmine milk tea, Thai tea, honeydew, coconut, matcha green tea ("matcha" is Japanese for green tea), and blueberry. I was told by one of the staff that their taro and jasmine milk teas are their most popular teas. You can get any tea regular or as a smoothie or slushie. Unlike other bubble tea shops, you can only get bubbles (tapioca pearls) as your only topping. No egg custard, lychee jelly, grass jelly, etc. here. I tried a regular size matcha green tea bubble tea and it was good. Nice and sweet and not too much ice. If anything, the tea tasted a bit too powdery and its consistency wasn't smooth enough all-around. However, I still enjoyed it. Also, the tapioca was fresh and appetizingly chewy enough. The particular night I went, they were also running a special. Buy one small bubble tea and one snack (all snacks are $2.99) for $4.99. You're effectively saving about 50 cents with this deal. I took advantage and also got a fried ice cream. The fried ice cream (vanilla flavor) was delicious. For the fried ice cream, I think we were limited to 2 or 3 flavors. The store had 6 flavors of ice cream total, including chocolate, vanilla, green tea, and cookies and cream. The fried ice cream was prepared with some kind of tasty breading on the outside, which was fried. This was drizzled with hot fudge, surrounded with whipped cream, and topped with a sweet cherry. Service is good. The staff is friendly, particularly one of the owners. I think Lattea makes better bubble teas, but I would come back to Boba Mocha for the ample seating and cleaner interior space. We went on a Sunday afternoon and were greeted as soon as we entered. It was nice to see that they offered three sizes of Boba, as the children do not normally finish the tall glasses. The service was very good, prompt, courteous and friendly. The options were plenty and you get two topping for free, we ordered an Awaken Dragon, jasmine milk tea with boba and popping lychee, and mango green tea with Boba. Our ordered arrived promptly and accurately. The Awaken Dragon was not sweet, but a nice refreshing cross between green tea and coffee it had boba and coffee jelly in it. It was very good. The Jasmine milk tea was creamy and just sweet enough, I really enjoyed the drink. I did not care for the tapioca balls, as someone else said they stuck together and were not firm. I will definitely not order those again, but I will go back and all our drinks were yummy. Really enjoyed the spicy nuggets and regular nuggets. Has food and drinks. I tried the jalapeno poppers. Warning: it's (temperature) hot. I enjoyed the batter. The cream cheese was slightly melted inside and provided an interesting contrast to the chewy jalapeno. The fried chicken nuggets are good. Better with the spicy sauce. I like eating fried basil like fried kale. Yum. This is a good place to come snack, hangout, and read. I like that it has some outdoor seating.. and indoor comfy couches. OMG. This is my new fave place for boboa tea. Sorry Quickly. This place has almost the same selection of snack items with more "other" treats: cakes, ice cream, and lunch specials. :) But, the boboa drinks are priced the same at both places with a small and large size choice. FYI: I was told their boboa was different: chewier with a hint of honey. As today was my very first visit here, the owner greeted us with such a friendly demeanor. He was super genuine and welcoming. The staff was super nice as well. They even bring you your items. The place was lit, a decent amount of seating, and best of all, there's no drumming talks of large groups of teenagers. Free wifi is available. Outdoor seating is available as well. By the way, he said there was a little kiosk at the Mall of Georgia located near the front of the main entrance on the way to the movie theater. I'm giving this place a try since he said this was pretty new. SEE BELOW FOR UPDATE: *Tried the kiosk at the Mall of Georgia, and I must say I do not like it very much. The prices here are a bit more, and I feel like the quality was lacking. I had the Thai Tea with coffee and rainbow jelly, and it tasted very powdery. The selection here indeed was fairly smaller, but I'm not going to hold it against them. Perhaps I would give this kiosk another try if I am thirsty and craving boboa tea. First time ever having Boba ANYTHING and I must say I really enjoyed it. I went during the COVID19 pandemic, actually just a couple days ago, so of course I was not able to dine in. I was greeted by an upbeat and friendly owner. He went over the menu and gave me a moment to figure out my drink of choice. I went with the fresh fruit smoothie, strawberry with boba topping. First off, the packaging of the drink is so cute. It's sealed closed and comes with this fat straw with a point at the tips to puncture the lid. The straw was round enough for the boba flow through and it was such a unique experience for me. The boba was chewy and the drink was refreshing. Ever since moving to Atlanta a few years ago I've frequented Boba Mocha more for bubble tea than any other venue that offers it. My wife and I love coming here as you are greeted immediately upon walking in, gives it a great homey feel, and they offer a decent selection of food and desserts (though have never had it, but looks appetizing). For your drinks, they offer quite a few size options (if I'm not mistaken --- petite, small, medium, large) and they are filling! I often change up drink to have it be of smoothie consistency or milk tea, different concoctions of flavors, and different toppings (boba or lychee, etc). But I've never been disappointed with any of the output. SERVICE = GREAT The menu has much to offer and if you'd like to have almond milk instead of regular milk, they can accommodate, not a problem at all (just tell them as you're placing your order). The menu/selection isn't too too overwhelming as it provides a broad range of what you can get, the ideal concoctions and more. If you're looking for a nice smoothie or tea, this is your place. DRINKS = AWESOME I was never one to study at a Starbucks, but I do see people coming in with their books to read as they sip on their drinks. It's a quiet place, gives it a homey feel, and isn't too too loud. If you want to hang out for a bit and/or meet friends they do have a lot of board games to play (i.e. Scrabble, Apples to Apples, and more) as it's an inviting place. AMBIENCE = CASUAL. This quaint Asian oasis is located in a small strip mall next to an Aldi's store. I was working in the area, was driving by and decided to try it. The first thing that grabbed me when I stepped into this establishment was the big smile, genuine kindness and helpfulness the young lady behind the counter displayed to the two customers before me. I received nothing less but the same warm and courteous customer service from this young lady and the manger (owner?) herself. Secondly, I loved the mini-menus, lunch menus and regular meal menus. The food (Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese) looked delicious and the prices were reasonable. Thirdly, but certainly not last, the variety of Boba drinks (I had the Thai coffee boba with extra boba for free .. YUMMMY) and the 3 sizes are great. Since Boba Mocha opened, this place has been my favorite boba tea shop to come get my small Thai Tea with ice and nothing in it. What else can I say? Very consistent and perfect. They'll adjust the creamer and sweetness to your taste; just ask the server/barista. I've recently also tried the Mango Smoothie with Aloe Vera. It was made fresh! And no, this doesn't mean mango powder that's dissolved and shaken. A real mango is used in the process. Definitely a "smooth" smoothie. I also tried something the manager suggested, Thai Tea Coffee. Yeah sounds funky, but it wasn't so bad. It just tasted like Vietnamese coffee to me with a hence of Thai Tea flavor. Very bold and I love boldness when it comes to coffee. The fried calamari and fried fish balls here are worth it so try 'em out next time instead of getting the popular Taiwanese nuggets everyone raves about. I also have to comment on the wi-fi provided here. I came to study for a certification exam I recently took. It was my first time dining in to use the internet. I loaded some huge files and it was lightning fast. What else can you ask for? *New Items* Also to mention, the Aloe Vera is a new topping! It usually accompany iced tea drinks very well. For example, passionfruit green tea with aloe vera or honey green tea with aloe vera. They also have taro and mango pudding now too as toppings to add to your drink. I wish it was closer though. I love this place. I trie to visit here when ever I go to Shorty Howell park since it's right next to it. I love the drinks they have and smoothies are from fresh fruit. Also, for people who haven't yet tried boba or jelly in their drink this is the place to try. They have punch cards and after certain drinks you get a free drink on the house. This place is Must try especially in summer. Also they have fried ice cream which is something I never knew existed. A bit of late review. Boba Mocha has been in the area for a few years and has a steady clientele that keeps the business going. It's located near the end of Pleasant Hill a bit far away from the rest of the bubble tea spots. You can order (you guessed it!) bubble tea. You have your basic slushy and milk tea based ones. This place also serves food too like the spicy Taiwanese chicken nuggets. This place actually makes it really spicy! The service is so so. I mean once you get your order that essentially it which is normal for a bubble tea place. Taste wise the drinks and food are average and okay. Nothing too special but still good. Overall a nice spot but not going to blow you away when you compare to some places just down the street. read more

Great service! Cute place and cozy But I got the million dollar cheesecake and I was soooooo underwhelmed. It's dry, bland and kinda cardboard tasting. I've had amazing cheesecake and this was not good at all. I would not get this. We also got the taro bobba frozen and it's good...not stellar, I've had better but definitely not bad. I would come here again and try other things. They also serve food and have specials! They also have games. This place is cool but I'm not sure about the desserts and the taro frozen bobba was good but could be better. I'll be back, we'll see how it goes. Small but cute. I came in and got the coconut Thai milk tea with almond milk and coffee jelly and boba and it was delicious! 10/10 recommend. The fried tofu snack was also delicious and flavorful. This is the 2nd Bubble Tea establishment I've tried in GA so far and it is fannnnnnntastic! I tried the Honeydew smoothie with bubbles and Mango smoothie with bubbles. I know it's not good to compare BUT this place is better than Lattea right down the street! We were just driving by and decided to give it a try! When they say "Fresh Fruit" they REALLY mean FRESH FRUIT! I had chunks of Honeydew at the bottom of my cup! I'm not gonna lie...I was excited! The Bubble tea is $2.50 for a small and $3.50 for a large. The fresh fruit smoothies are about $1 more but totally worth it! They even have a rewards program so if you purchase a certain number of beverages you get one free, just have them stamp your rewards card. They also sell other things in the little restaurant like desserts and even real food! I was awfully impressed with the slices of "Cheesecake Factory" Cheesecake for $2.99 per slice! Great deal! I haven't been to boba mocha in a very long time. I usually go to quickly to get their fried tofu. Today, I decided to try boba mocha again, and notice they have fried tofu on their menu. So I gave that a try. I was very disappointed to see how much oil was sitting at the bottom of the snack bag and how sticky the tofu became... that pretty much killed it for me. Literally my favorite boba spot and cafe in the area. I have been here more times than I can count, with friends, family, and dates, too! Never have I been disappointed. I mean, with the clean facility, extremely friendly and welcoming staff (ESPECIALLY the owner - a sweet man!), and delicious drinks and food, it's hard not to be happy. Boba Mocha is also unique in that its cozy and homey atmosphere makes it easy to study or have a relaxing, chill hangout with friends. I love coming here to just catch up with people and enjoy a fun game of Jenga. Have I mentioned they have a slew of fun board and card games here? It's really awesome. Something great they do is fix your order if you aren't satisfied. I ordered a matcha milk tea, which was a bit less milky than I expected (much more like green tea!) and when I asked if they could make it milkier, the owner even allowed me to order something all together for free! He made sure I enjoyed the second drink (which I did, immensely) and always serves with a smile. Some logistical information: Parking has never been a problem for me, and there is outdoor seating, as well as booths and tables indoors. I knew walking in that the place uses powder which I don't mind but the honey dew was so powdery, I felt like I was drinking a protein shake. I live near the area and have been to boba mocha for years. I like boba mocha because My daily go to drink black milk tea basic no topping and I like their size. Ive also tried alot of their others. The BAD - $6.50 for literally 4 fried oyster?? This was my first time getting them, I was blown away. That about the same price as RAW. And these were prob from restaurant depot but def. frozen. I get inflation but that is ludicrous. My Matcha milk tea I ordered w/ no toppings was so bad. Since I ordered as is, should have 100% sugar. Tasted like 50 but im ok with that. The Matcha was SOOOO bitter. You could see the powder at the bottom not blended. So I asked them to add more milk and mix it up. I got it back was still not good but I just took it. They did not even taste it, prob the issue. My wife ordered a smoothie and it took a while, Im ok with waiting we were just hanging out. The smoothie was better but it was not that good either. The service was good, but just disappointed in the food and drink. Boba Mocha is by no means or ever has been the top bubble tea spots, but their pricing was good. Had a strong urge for boba tea in Duluth. Checked yelp and found this place as a highly recommended pace to go. Took my parents and decided to try it out. The place had a coffee shop feel with comfort chairs and tables. Excellent customer service with smiles and extremely helpful owner. My mother did not like her drink because it was too sweet. The owner immediately changed it to a less sweet option. My mother loved the less sweet choice. I would highly recommend coming here to relax and enjoy the boba tea. read more

I will not ever come back here again. I'm here at least once a week to get my daughter a tea (for years now). I visited tonight with my father in law and daughter to get a tea. We sat down for two minutes after getting tea and the employee laughing and jokingly kicked us out due to covid. We didn't plan on staying. It was extremely off putting. This is a great time to point out a little boy lives in the dining area in the corner. I've always seen this little boy in the corner every time I've visited. So very hypocritical to kick our paying customers while there's a kid in the ipad in the corner day in and day out. If you're worried about covid don't bring your kid to work. It's a cute and chill shop on the inside. And what's more, they have board games! So you can spend hours playing Monopoly or cards here (if they let you). The boba is decent and they have a whole food/snack menu if you're feeling hungry after all that playing. I tried the Almond Black Milk Tea and my friend got the Taro Milk Tea. Mine initially tasted like almost a biscotti and had an interesting/weird taste to it. The taro was pretty good. Their tapioca didn't really have a taste and the texture is similar to the store bought kind. I don't know if it was just me but their boba straw has a weird plastic taste that gets combined with the milk tea so it made the flavor a bit off-putting, or maybe it's just the milk tea I got that was weird since that's what I was getting the more I drank.
