To me this is just average but you lose stars for charging $7.50 for a Large that is normally a regular at most places. 80% of the location is barricaded for storage and there's 4 spots to sit down. I'm not sure how this place has so many good reviews. For a boba place, you would think their boba would be good, but I don't think I've ever tasted anything so artificial. Their drinks are awfully sweet, artificial tasting, and watered down (can't taste the tea). I got the honey lychee tea with lychee jelly and it tasted like none of those. My drink had bright green syrup at the bottom and I'm not sure what would call for that, but I think it's green apple syrup? It sort of tastes like apple rather than lychee so I'm assuming that's the case. I kept trying to shake it up to see if it would mix, but it keeps separating. Aside from their terrible drinks, a large section of the store is closed off for storage/employee use so there is only the store front with about two tables for seating. They closed off half of their shop so its only a couple tables available to sit at. A little cramped and the heat was set a little too high. Solid bubble tea establishment. They make a variety of different tea flavors and have dairy-free options. The boba tasted fresh and had an enjoyable chewiness to it. So you could tell they made it on-site every day as opposed to leaving it out. I got the Hokkaido Cream milk tea with soy milk but I think there may have been dairy in the mix or there was cross-contamination with regular milk since my stomach was a little bit upset. Overall Boba Tree is great. They have lots of different flavors I've never seen elsewhere, their boba is cooked perfectly, their prices are very low, and they offer a "Mega" size for those so inclined. My Raspberry smoothie with boba was absolutely delicious. The only real knock is the current layout. Patrons are greeted with a large, empty area with three large tables, and the immediate impression that the establishment is no longer in business. To the right of the entrance door is a tiny order counter with a large white sign listing all of the flavors and items they were out of. One of my party, who is a long-time patron and who recommended the business, explained that they used to have mirrors and murals up on the walls and functioned as a dance studio. While this explains the layout, it can make for a very confusing experience if one doesn't know this ahead of time as one's eye is drawn to the vast emptiness and clutter in front of their gaze when they enter as opposed to the order counter in their peripheral vision. read more

This boba shop is one of my friend's favorite boba shops in Vancouver. She suggested trying this place. I got the wintermelon milk tea with 50% sugar which was ok, I tasted mainly wintermelon but really little tea. The other two were a honeydew blended and strawberry blended drink. They use real fruit rather than the powder for the fruit blended drinks unless it's fruits that aren't easily found. I've had boba in Vancouver before and it's been subpar, so I usually avoid boba here. However, it looks like Vancouver is slowly increasing their boba game and getting better at it. read more

The customer service though is probably the best I've experienced. The owner is a sweet Vietnamese lady and she greets you right away. She also gave me samples of my drink and asked if it tasted okay. I thought that was a nice touch. I ordered blended strawberry, mango, and lychee smoothie with lychee jelly for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. For myself, I ordered the honeydew milk tea with boba. It was disappointing. I could taste the powder and it was overly sweet. I couldn't taste the jasmine tea at all. I also ordered taro milk tea and it was pretty good. Very light, not overly sweet. I love how soft the boba is. I hate soggy or hard boba. If I do come back, I wouldn't order the honeydew again. I would be willing to try out other flavors they have to offer. They have cute decor and seating which I liked if you just wanted to drink and chill. The menu they offer has a lot of flavors and they also serve shaved ice desserts! First time having such bad boba! I ordered vietnamese coffee with egg pudding and my friend ordered Thai tea with boba. The vietnamese coffee doesn't taste like the vietnamese coffee, but it's not as bad as the Thai tea. The boba was just the worst I ever had. It was hard, no flavor and we end up throwing it away. So many choices...so hard to choose! You can custom build a BOBA tea, but I just decided to go for the Strawberries n Cream with little "flavor" ball things, instead of tapioca pearls. They have two sizes which was nice, because I can't really stomach an entire blended drink of the taller size, so I opted for smaller. Both of our drinks (one small, one large) ended up being ~$10 with tax. Not sure how people are complaining about this when they'll go to Starbucks and spend $5.60 on a frappucino and it isn't even supporting a local business. The vibe in here is a little funky (not really comfortable, kind of cold so to say) so I probably wouldn't spend time there after buying my tea. But the important thing is the tea is good. This place is alright for boba tea. It is slightly more expensive that the boba tea places in Portland or Seattle but it is one of the few places in Vancouver. I liked the fact that they used real avocado in their avocado boba tea. I would say the avocado was too ripe to the point it tasted like what calla lillies smelled like. I think calla lillies smell like floral cows. I liked the fact that it wasnt too sweet. I am open to try this place again though. I think I just got a bad avocado. I did think my avocado smoothie did need more ice though. My boyfriend tried the oreo shake. He said it was really sweet but what can you really expect from oreos? My friend really liked the oreo shake. I visited this place on the fourth of july. They had a steady stream of customers and it sounded slightly hectic behind the counter. This place used to be great. But then they remodeled and I don't know what happened. The servings are smaller and the quality isn't as good. I used to go 2-3 times per month but I won't be returning. Flavors are weaker, and the portions are less generous. They used to offer soy milk as an alternative, but they haven't had it for a long time. Just coconut and almond milk. I was gonna rate it 3 but I'm giving it a 4 because this is the first milktea shop I've been to since I've moved in this country and I may have too high expectations for milkteas. I love that they have wintermelon flavor which is my main choice in any milktea however I guess I wasn't able to really taste the tea (I prefer a stronger taste) which I enjoy the most. It wasn't really as creamy as I expected either. The boba is the perfect balance of not too soft and not too firm. Having said that, I think there's not enough boba. If you're a boba fan and you're getting a Large sized drink, definitely do 2 add ons of boba. Hehe.
