    Crème brûlée boba half sweet
    Karen T.

I have to say, we got this around lunch time, we were home before 1this afternoon. I had this in the fridge and 4 1/2 hours later it's still so good! My bobas are still soft and chewy, the taste is great although I did get it half sweet. We also got an assortment of mochi donuts and they are great and fresh also. We'll be back.

Dubai (+$2) and sweater potato with marshmallow.

Stopped by Short and Sweet the day after Thanksgiving, and honestly, this spot lived up to its name. They had seven flavors on deck, and I grabbed two of each because commitment matters. Favorites: The Dubai flavor was a fun surprise. The sweet potato with roasted marshmallow was adorable--they torch the marshmallow right on top, and yes, it tastes as cute as it looks. The churro hit the spot, and the caramel maple was solid. The raspberry was just okay for me. A few of them had a slightly oily aftertaste, but not enough to ruin anything. Texture-wise, I wish they were a bit chewier, but again--not a dealbreaker. Service was great. Super friendly staff, good conversation, bright and clean space. I'm not sure if the guy I talked to was the owner, but whoever he was, he was nice. Bottom line: fun stop, good vibes, tasty overall. I'd definitely come back.

The strawberry matcha latte was mid! I couldn't taste the matcha flavor. It mainly tasted like the milk. The tapioca pearls were chewy. Good service. The employees were very helpful! The ambiance was nice! There were lots of seats available and well decorated with cute plushie and a groovy wall.

wintermelon milk tea with crystal boba

Was walking around downtown and saw this cute store selling mochi donuts and boba. The Inside was well decorated and very aesthetic. There are a few tables and a couch. Service was fast and pleasant. They sell bahn mi here as well! Got a wintermelon milk tea with crystal boba (less ice, 25% sweet). It was still pretty sweet, especially for 25%. Wintermelon flavor is not very strong... the drink kind of just tastes sweet. Crystal boba was cooked well, not mushy or undercooked. However, it didn't have any additional flavor or sweetener added to it, as it didn't taste like much on its own. Cost was a bit on the pricier side (about $6.50), but with little competition nearby, the convenience can be worth the extra cost. Would be open to trying the mochi donuts next time I'm nearby, but probably not the boba.

I love Short & Sweet. I have been going here with my husband since they first opened up, we're very much regulars. We always get tofu and chicken banh mi, and they are both delicious. Their in-house mayo is so good and I haven't found another banh mi place that replicates it. It's truly one of a kind. I also love they have vegetarian options. Their drinks are also so good! This is one of my favorite boba places, and the boba pearls are consistently fresh. They're never old or hard. They also have a variety of fresh fruit tea and amazing milk tea drinks, I love them both. You can also control the sweetness and I think they have milk alternatives if I'm not mistaken, which is great! Their Vietnamese coffee is probably the best one I've had, if they ever have the crème brûlée Vietnamese coffee on the menu, I definitely recommend that. They're also great to go to in the colder months because they have hot boba. Their mochi donuts are so fun and always taste great as well. I love that they rotate which donut flavors they have. The staff is so friendly and kind, and always greet customers. We come here so much the owners and staff recognize us and we always have a mini catch up. They are a family business that cares about their customers, and it shows. I definitely recommend Short & Sweet because of their amazing staff, great service, variety of drinks, and delicious food.

These mochi donuts are much softer than ones I've had at other places, they were delicious! So now I don't need to drive 30 min out to get them. We had the Ferrero Rocher and the cinnamon sugar ones. I love how the place is set up! Cute furniture, cute little things to buy and cute places to take pics! It's very light and bright in there and it's a nice place to meet with friends or take the kiddos.

Fun little bubble tea and bahn mi and mochi donut shop to grab a bite while exploring downtown Vancouver. The wait staff was friendly even on a busy Pokémon weekend. The bubble tea was good and they did just a mango juice for my daughter even though it's not listed on the menu board.

Went on a mission over the weekend to get me some mochi donuts & boba tea of course. I wanna say they're the only ones in Vancouver to make those. I went with the strawberry milk tea regular sweetness & the 3 pack donuts (strawberry shortcake, cocoa crispy, & pandan coconut). First off, their cups are great quality, thick & they put a little cute heart stopper in it. Once mixed, my drink was so yummy. Nice & creamy, yet refreshing for a sunny day. Boba was cooked perfectly. Donuts were a good texture, not too sticky, not tough. My favorite was the pandan. The aesthetic on here is very picture worthy. There is even a little nook to where you can take a photo. It'd be great hang out spot with friends. Service was great. Definitely want to come back to try the banh mi. We did however circle the area multiple times trying to look for the parking area mentioned in another review that's free for 2 hours. We gave up & finally parked on the street nearby, which looked to be free on weekends. Once we got to the shop, we could see the parking area from the window, now we know.

    Kate K.

Super cute aesthetic, great boba and I love their banh mi too! They're also the only place that I've found mochi donuts in Vancouver (although only sold on weekends). Totally worth checking out!

This places makes my favorite bahn mi and I've eaten bahn mi's all over SF and LA. While there isn't much competition yet in Vancouver WA .... this place is actually legit and it's become my go to bahn mi place whenever I get a craving Their best creation is their lemongrass tofu bahn mi because it's so freaking delicious and flavorful. I love it even more than my older favorite flavor (combination ham) and am solely eating this flavor now. The flavors are subtle but when all the combined ingredients make it super satisfying. Their bahn mi mayo is on point and their sandwiches are loaded! Their sandwiches are a lot more filling and robust than typical bahn mi's and for the price you pay, it is worth it. Every time I go, I need to save the other bahn mi half for another meal. Pro-tip: Add that extra egg white and your sandwich goes from amazing to f***ing amazing.

A beautifully welcoming space for all with friendly staff, a wide selection of drinks and amazing food you won't find anywhere else in Vancouver. The mochi doughnuts are a rare find and so delicious! The rotating flavors gives you a chance to try something new every week. 10/10 would recommend this gem of a spot here in Vancouver.

Brown Sugar Tiger Milk and Creme Brulee Brown Sugar Milk Tea

We love this place! The boba tea is amazing, the mochi doughnuts are great! We got the Brown Sugar Tiger Milk Boba and the Crème Brûlée Boba tea. We also got the doughnuts and they are amazing! The service is great and the atmosphere is awesome! They even have a game shelf to use while you wait for and enjoy your food and drink! 5/5 Stars!

The flavor of the pizza is amazing and I have heard that the gluten free crust is considered better than the regular by some people. This location gets busy, so if you can swing an early dinner or a meal at a slightly off time, your wait to sit will be shorter. We came in a bit before 5 when the patio seating was open and got to sit right away. When they are busy, you might wait a bit for food, but the servers are friendly and super knowledgeable about the menu items. We ordered the "something marvelous" (bbq chicken) and a pepperoni pizza (because kids) for our pizza. We also got the beets and burrata salad to start. This was more than enough food and we always take leftovers home. The weather was nice on the patio and you can see the waterfront and river from your seats. We've been here before. We will be back. I hope the Cuban style pizza makes it back on the menu...pizza with pulled pork and pickles? Yes!

This was a beautiful day on the…read morewaterfront and there was no wait at 7PM on a Friday night, which we found surprising given how almost every restaurant on the street seemed to be full. We were told it would be a 20 to 25 minute wait for our pizza (I had to ask - the server didn't volunteer this information). It actually took 30. Dini Broccolini ($16) - We ordered this as an app. The dish includes a thick romesco sauce spread along the bottom of the plate. It's served cold and it's quite nutty (walnuts?) and peppery with a strong tangy umami. It's chunky with lots of small pieces blended in. On top of the romesco are three slices of crostini that are much thicker than average. They are completely dried out and crunchy like croutons. They salt the bread a ton; it's salty enough that my mouth felt like it was burning. The only warm thing on the dish is the broccolini, which is baked rather than charred. The texture is great and the seasoning level is perfect. On top of the veggies, they sprinkle pecorino and and breadcrumbs, for additional saltiness, umami, and a bit of crunch. (4/5) Now onto the pizza. Taken from another of my reviews: there are several characteristics that define Detroit-style. Firstly, the base must be a thinner and chewier focaccia dough-like crust, pillowy on the interior and with a crispness on the bottom and sides that are somewhat greasy but not overladen*. There must be flavorful Wisconsin brick cheese (or blend), buttery and fatty, melted on top and spread until it spills over the sides of the crust, creating a crisp caramelized frico ring surrounding the pie. The pepperoni must be underneath the cheese**, and the flavorful tomato sauce, typically in several wide lines, is spread atop the cheese. There must not be too many toppings to prevent the crust from compressing and ruining the texture. *Note 1: The fat/grease is very important, both to allow the crust to crisp up and to act as a hydrophobic layer to prevent sogginess. **Note 2: This is the one trait I dislike since it makes the pepperoni limp and soaked with grease. Dial 'P' for Pepperoni ($26) - As always, I start with the base pepperoni pizza, the most classical Detroit-style pizza. The pizzas here are standard 4-square size (8in x 10in), cut into 6 pieces. Pricing is pretty expensive for this size - I'm used to 8-square (10in x 14in) pricing being around this much. Starting with the base crust - it's pretty good. It's crisp but not overly greasy, thinner and a little collapsed in the area with toppings, but still light and airy without being dense. It's super bubbly from frying in high heat and the crumb, especially towards the sides, looks great. It has a tasty buttery fried flavor. The cheese frico on the sides is underwhelming. While crisp, it's a little collapsed and flattened rather than having lacy, thin, uneven tops as with a great Detroit-style pizza. The bake on the pizza is also uneven, with one side much darker than the other. The darker side unfortunately burns the frico, which gives an unpleasant acridity on one end. On top, they add an appropriate amount of mild mozzarella. It's enough to give a slightly cheesy stretch, but isn't enough to feel overly heavy or rich. They then place pepperoni on top, which cups and crisps up. Again, they don't overload the pizza, so while salty, it's not overwhelmingly so like several other Detroit-style pizzas I've eaten recently. This all makes a pizza that give a really balanced bite. Unfortunately the sauce here is a miss. It's ridiculously tangy and acidic to start with somewhat of a metallic kind of flavor. It then descends into a really heavy overly concentrated flavor of dried Italian herbs. It's incredibly overwhelming, like they wanted to completely cover up the taste of bad quality canned tomatoes* but failed. The dried herbs are followed up with a slight heat that warms the mouth, probably from red pepper flakes mixed in. On each slice of pizza, they place a giant spoonful of sauce, which is unfortunate given that I didn't enjoy the sauce. I think they should revisit their tomato sauce recipe. It's one of the worst Ive had in a while. Luckily, it's not a huge part of the pizza. (3.5/5) Overall the pizzas have some major weaknesses. My review reads very critical, but I think the pizzas are still quite tasty and will satisfy most people. Still, I personally wouldn't return given the better options for Detroit-style pizza across the river. *Note: They use Valoroso canned tomatoes from Stanislaus, which is a company many places in Detroit also use. I doubt the quality of the tomatoes are actually bad. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms

Instead, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. The pulled pork sandwich was decent, but the flavor felt a little flat and could have used more seasoning. I was also surprised there wasn't any salt and pepper on the table, so if that's something you like, be sure to ask for it. Overall, the food was good and the service was good. While I enjoyed the experience, it's probably not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again, though I'd stop in if I was already in the area.

We decided on the bacon cheeseburger with chips, and the reuben with fries ($3.50 extra for fries). I've never understood the extra cost for fries vs homemade potato chips?! The chips have been hit or miss in the past, so we usually order fries for one entree just in case. Our food took about 45 minutes. Seemed way too long. Our server never came back and asked for refills on beverages during our visit either, which was disappointing. My burger looked good, but super greasy, even the bun was greasy on top. Maybe it was brushed with butter?! The burger dripped with grease while eating it. The chips were saturated in grease as well. Some of them so much they weren't crispy at all. Our server was nowhere to be found or I would have complained. They were left on the plate. My husband didn't like them either. He ended up sharing his fries with me. My husband liked his reuben, but the bread was burnt on the bottom. You couldn't tell at first look, only once it was picked up to eat. It had plenty of meat, cheese, peppers and onions. He enjoyed it overall. The fries were good too. Much better than the chips. The restaurant was clean when we walked in, but during our visit many tables were left dirty for far too long. Not sure if they were in the middle of a shift change, but it seemed like no one was around to clear plates or refill beverages. Someone from the kitchen eventually came out to get us our bill. Our plates were still on the table when we left. Overall a disappointing experience. There are far too many restaurant options in this area to spend $65 on lunch for mediocre, at best, food and service. We will not be returning.

This is my 4th time here and I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet ‍ I've tried almost everything on the menu. And all have been delicious! Today I got the cheeseburger again. So good! A bit oily this time but still good. A must try this place :) cute corner shop, affordable prices :)

I was on a mission from The Columbian--or maybe just following a hot tip in the local paper--when I…read morediscovered Darbar Halal Market. My expectations were low, having nearly mistaken it for a secret society meeting thanks to its location next to the bright beacon of caffeine that is Paper Tiger Coffee. It's hidden in a building where, apparently, only food ninjas know the entrance, and the parking lot is the only thing that's well-lit. Inside, past a treasure trove of loose-leaf tea and spices, I found a well-lit menu the size of a large billboard near the register. The owner, a very proud and friendly man, took my order. He was practically beaming about his establishment and, tragically, informed me I'd just missed the last of the homemade baklava. The disappointment was real. We ordered two items that would change my worldview: the Jalapeño Smash Burger and the Falafel Sandwich. First up: the burger. A double for a cool $8 à la carte! I was not prepared for this flavor explosion. What sets it apart is the seasoning--a symphony of black pepper and savory spices that hit just right. The American cheese was melted into perfection, creating a beautiful orange cascade over perfectly sautéed onions and jalapeños. A sturdy but soft brioche bun heroically contained all the juicy chaos. Seriously, this smash burger is better than some places that have "burger" in their name. Then, the falafel sandwich--a fresh, flavorful masterpiece. It features freshly baked, airy pita bread, ground chickpea falafel, crisp veggies, and their legendary house-made green sauce (which tastes like a cilantro-garlic party in my mouth). It was a light and delicious counterpoint to the burger's meaty glory. The only confusing part is the seating situation. There's plenty of space, but no tables. It's a "take your incredible food and run" situation. I'll be back for that elusive baklava and another burger, you can count on it. Highly recommend finding this culinary speakeasy!
