I've been a fan since I was a little kid in the early 80s when our school bus used to pass Chez Robert on the way to Christ the King elementary school. Our tradition for like ten years has been Bobby Chez crab cakes and accompaniments on New Year's Eve. This year,friggin wow! I took advantage of their take out service. I called order in around three & told them I would pick it up at five. Everything was ready and hot. The staff was very friendly. The oyster platters were delicious. Came with very tasty French fries and delicious cole slaw. I couldn't leave without getting 2 of the crab cakes. The best crab cakes there are are made by Bobby Chez. Never go anywhere else for crab cakes. The dining area is nice dim lighting with tables spaced apart. Very nice. read more

Not what I remembered from back in the day. Back when I was in high school, we used to go to Bobby Chez all the time. The crab balls were actual "jumbo lump," and were the size of softballs. They were moist and flavorful and worth every penny. I was just here last week. The "jumbo lump" crab cake was not jumbo lump, dry, and about the size of a golf ball. Nine dollars a piece. I got 2 crab balls, a pound of mac and cheese and a small deli cup of cucumber and tomato salad (gross....WAY too SWEET....yuck), and that shit was about $30. It wasn't TERRIBLE, and the crab cake still tasted ok, but the mac and cheese was actually the star of the meal. When you're dropping THIRTY dollars, you shouldn't say that the mac and cheese was better than the crab cake. I won't be back. For $30 I can go get a 24 ounce can of jumbo lump crab meat and make my own crab balls the size of cantaloupes. I think Bobby got too big and is now coasting on reputation. meh. read more

Wow, I've never experienced customer service like this! Ordered a fried flounder from the menu posted in the store on the wall that stated the price was $16.99. I was charged $22.80 at the register. When I pointed out the sign says $16.99, the clerk responded the sign is wrong. I then asked to have it taken off my order and she said it was too late since it has already been deep fried. I called the manager and her response to me was that the sign was wrong, it should say "Market prices", and if you have been coming here for lunch you should have known our prices increasing. My family have been loyal customers to various Bobby Chez locations for years. I'm excited to have a location in Delran that's easily accessible whenever I'm in the area to visit family. The crab cakes are pricey and they seem to get smaller and smaller as the years go by. I typically buy one each for me and my husband but it never really feels like enough, though we love pairing the crab cakes with the mashed potatoes and have tried a bunch of the other sides as well. Some of the other entrees have been hit or miss. The chicken parm we had was very tough and we were not fans. My sister said she had the same experience with Bobby's chicken parm and no longer buys it. More recently, I tried the buffalo shrimp and those were a hit. I will for sure look for those again next time I'm in the shop. read more

After many years of being a very satisfied Bobby Chez customer, I unfortunately can no longer trust that what he is selling as a crab cake is, minus the tiny amount of filler, 100% crab. Last night my wife and I were cutting into our "crab" cakes, when she said, "What's this red stuff? Blue claw crab doesn't have tinges of red." After tasting our "crab" cakes we agreed that they also did not taste like Bobby Chez's crab cakes of old. The red tinged, nearly flavorless "crab" that we picked out was surimi, an imitation crab product made from pollock that is blended into cheap crab cakes as a supplement to real crab. Bobby has posted signs about a crabmeat shortage, forcing him to raise prices; that's fine and honest. Apparently he has gotten greedy and decided to charge this higher price while blending in surimi. That's dishonest, and a reason that we will no longer patronize his stores. Apparently he thinks that he's the only crab in the sea making crab cakes. Wake up and smell the surimi, Bobby! Trying to also trick the customer smells like low tide. read more

I ordered grilled salmon, mac and cheese, and vegetable au gratin. I put them in my air fryer for 10 minutes. When I say delicious, wow so food. The added crunch fry the air fryer to them to the next level. The veggies were so flavorful. The total came to $23. I ate half the sides and probably could have done the same for the fish. This Bobby Chez restaurant has a consistent turn over as it relates to the staff. I recently entered the store to place an order. When I walked in, no one greeted me, and when I greeted one of the staff members, she did not speak. I noticed there were no traffic in the store and when I asked her what time they closed. She told me 6pm. I realiZed that she did not want to speak nor help me because it was 6 pm. However I entered the store at 5:55 and could have been helped had she not avoided me. I chose to order because when I walked in the store was not yet closed and I was not going to be deterred by her terrible attitude. If the restaurant closes at 6, you are on the clock until 6 pm. Unfortunately that's what you sign up for when you work in the restaurant business. To the management at the Delran location, please get your staff in order. The Delran location rarely has broiled crab cakes. I'm sure its probably their biggest seller but they turn people away everyday cuz they keep saying they are out.
