This classic establishment has been here for many years, located in the Eagles Plaza. An unassuming strip store with a fish market in the front, this is the first time that I have been here in over two decades. It's Mother's Day 2025. My lovely lady wanted to come here for snow crab legs. We met up with her parents and we had a feast! We started with the mini crab balls, lobster bisque, spicy garlic little neck clams, clams casino and the hot smoked white fish. The little necks were really good and the sauce was much spicier than expected. It came with a round roll for dipping all that juice. They were really good. The clams casino was the classic I remember, and they were good, not great. The crab balls were very popular at the table and went fast. They were crispy and had lots of crab in them, I believe it was claw meat. The lobster bisque was also delish. The hot smoke whiting was warm, Smokey and flakey with a wonderful taste. It came with hot butter and was so good we ordered a second plate. For entrees we ordered the mussels in spicy red sauce, the broiled combo platter with shrimps and scallops and a crabby cake. Oyster stew, and baked jumbo lump crab meat. All came with coleslaw, and a side. We got onion rings and French fries and they were good. They weren't the cheap onion rings. They were battered not breaded, and thats how I like them. The spicy clams and mussels really had a kick, so be prepared because it was a little too much for the ladies at our table. The oyster stew was not as thick as we wanted and was a little watery. My crab cake was packed with jumbo lump crab and the whole meal was really delicious and filling. Cap'n Cat is a good choice if: 1) You like your seafood simple and fried or 2) You like your seafood plain and broiled, with minimal seasoning. The seafood is fresh, and the market up front has a nice selection at fair prices, if you want to cook your own. If you have them cook it for you, just be warned. This is not a chef-driven type of restaurant. Fish is overcooked. Seasonings are limited to maybe some Old Bay. read more

I ordered takeout online. Fried shrimp platter ( cheese fries and coleslaw) and 2 large garlic butter blue crabs($4 each ). Nice amount of food in the lunch platter which was a little over $10 with tax. You can also eat inside. The decor is really cute , casual, and gives a being on a ship/ nautical vibe. read more

The blackened salmon is so delish! I get take out with baked potato as my side. Small coleslaw already included. I have been indulging in the taste of oyster Rockefeller. I recently visited Atlanta and a colleague ordered several trays of these exceptionally delicious Oyster Rockefeller. Captain Cats was the top choice in the area. My partner and I were greatly disappointed. Her dish consisted of a broiled seafood platter with a baked potato. Her flounder was unappetizing... indeed, her entire plate was overpriced. I have already mentioned my issue. I (we) will never consider returning to this establishment again, ever. read more

I don't get the hype. People absolutely seem to swear by this place, but I personally don't always enjoy greasy, fried seafood. Family got a huge platter of it and the smell was awful--that old grease smell. And when I went in there to buy fresh seafood, well, I was super underwhelmed. No one was there even, and nothing looked like it was on ice. Yikes! I thought it might be like a Coleman's (a seafood place in Wheeling WV with a huge selection of fresh seafood to buy, with some fried seafood that's ok)., but it hasn't grown or changed in decades. Had fried shrimp delivery the other night and it was perfect. The clam chowder was also very good!

The food here is spectacular. I have gotten both the broiled shrimp and the broiled salmon and I have never been disappointed. They season with old bay and it's just really good fish every time! The meals come with a baked potato which is fire always. The service is really good and the staff is super nice! They've served me even when they were about to close. Even though the restaurant itself isn't fancy, their food is phenomenal and they've been around since the 80s which in and of itself tells you how good it is. This is a weird time in our world but Cap'n cats crab legs and Lobster bisque made my dad's 65th birthday not so bad even if we were quarantined. Their prices are reasonable, they will steam the crabs for you which makes the prep very easy and the lobster bisque is the best around. Waited 35 minutes for my food when we were one of the only 3-4 tables in the place, for it to come out warm at most. The server was the only person working & I get that it can be hard working by yourself but full on avoided when we needed help. Literally covered the side of her face as she walked by as I'm trying to pay to leave. We love this place. While the atmosphere is non-existent (that's the reason for 4 stars) and some of the chairs are near collapse, the fish is fresh and delicious and plentiful. I do not eat shellfish so I usually stick to the fried flounder, which is consistently yummy. I usually get the baked potato and my husband gets the onion rings. He loves the broiled combination plate and either of the clam chowders. If it's busy, service can get slow. But it's always friendly! Don't let the decor or look of the place fool you. I called GH and gave them our order, (with my coupon code of "LOCAL,") they confirmed it, emailed and texted me the detailed order confirmation. After that, I got texts about when my driver a) - arrived at CC's, b) - when they left CC's and c) - when they arrived at our office! WOW! I'm totally new to GH, so I Google'd about tipping - it was suggested "20% of your food bill or $5, whichever is greater." I gave 18%. This process was simple and an absolute 5 star experience. Cap'n Cat is one of my favorite places to go for great seafood and not break the bank. They are located in a strip mall and not very fancy. The inside decor is fun, but more importantly, the food is delicious. You can dine in or take out. I tend to get the Broiler Combination Deluxe and this time I chose to try the Lobster and Crab Bisque, which was amazing. Typically, when I go, on a Sunday afternoon there is no one else dining in and just a few people getting take out. Been here time and time again. It's a great little hole in the wall for seafood lovers. It's nothing fancy, but if you're a true new jerseyian, this is right up your alley. Highly recommend the soups, they do not skimp on the crab in the bisque! Steamers are absolutely a go to, and the crab is hard to beat. A little hidden seafood gem in the Jersey suburbs. It's very unassuming, hidden within a shopping plaza surrounded by a McDonalds, Chipotle and a Hibachi restaurant. AS you walk in you think you're going to a seafood market since you can order some items at the front corner, but as you walk to the left you'll see that there is a sitdown restaurant in back. You don't come for the ambiance and decor but for the food. The restaurant is kind of dank, and the bathrooms are musky, but i digress, you're coming for the food. The service is a bit lacking and sparse, but again, you're coming for the food. In terms of the food, we ordered the Crab Leg combo to share with my wife, two soups, and popcorn shrimp for my son. In terms of the food, it's amazing. The sampler offers dungeoness, king, and snow crab. Everything there was soo freshy and meaty, didn't taste like it was frozen at all, but what do I know. It was a cold winter early evening as the wife and I decided to go get some summertime fare, our favorite , seafood. We used to live in Voorhees and frequent this place a lot. It used to beawesome. Well, it has changed over the years. It got even better. Outstanding. I have zero complaints. Let me just list what I love. Greeted warmly and sat right away. Our Iced-teas and waters on the table in minutes. Appetizers out on the table within minutes. Plump, briny, salty large oysters served ice cold with all the sides. And only $8 bucks for a half dozen. Thick and creamy lobster bisque full of flavor for my wife. An incredible oyster stew for me. Full of tasty perfectly cooked oysters in just an overwhelmingly well prepared broth. Not too buttery. Not too thin. Just perfect. And served warmly to thaw my cold winter bones. My wife enjoyed a broiled shrimp platter served with flaky onion rings that were just tasty as hell. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and ample. And for $12 ! I had the blackened mahi-mahi. It was tender and flaky. Moist on the inside. The baked potato in its metal jacket was soft and warm. Just ask absolute perfect hour long meal. What a summer escape. And all that food for Just $52 with tip. Oh , and the service was outstanding. Dee, our server was just so sweet. We are in neighborhood so we have been here a number of times. The fish is not washed, so it has a very fishy smell. I had a very simple flounder dish, but it was overly salty, not tasty at all. I do feel bad for the one and only girl working the entire room. The baked potato is always delicious but damn, they give you a dollop of sour cream but no sprinkle of chives on top, nothing extra that would make the meal delicious. I introduced my folks to calamari. Yes, it's hard to believe that they're almost 80 and they haven't eaten calamari before. They loved it. The calamari was lightly battered and perfectly cooked. Don't come here for the atmosphere. It's nothing special. Basically a no-frills little hideaway with fresh seafood. They have a pickup counter if you want to grab some seafood to cook at home, or you can sit in the dining room and let them cook for you. I ordered the rainbow trout, which was disappointing only in that the portion size was a bit small. Snotty waitress, overly seasoned fish, artificially tasting coleslaw, we asked for a knife and were told they were in the dishwasher, waitress DID NOT ask if we needed anything after dropping our plates on the table nor did she come back to see if our food was ok.
