    Broiled combo.

This classic establishment has been here for many years, located in the Eagles Plaza. An unassuming strip store with a fish market in the front, this is the first time that I have been here in over two decades. It's Mother's Day 2025. My lovely lady wanted to come here for snow crab legs. We met up with her parents and we had a feast! We started with the mini crab balls, lobster bisque, spicy garlic little neck clams, clams casino and the hot smoked white fish. The little necks were really good and the sauce was much spicier than expected. It came with a round roll for dipping all that juice. They were really good. The clams casino was the classic I remember, and they were good, not great. The crab balls were very popular at the table and went fast. They were crispy and had lots of crab in them, I believe it was claw meat. The lobster bisque was also delish. The hot smoke whiting was warm, Smokey and flakey with a wonderful taste. It came with hot butter and was so good we ordered a second plate. For entrees we ordered the mussels in spicy red sauce, the broiled combo platter with shrimps and scallops and a crabby cake. Oyster stew, and baked jumbo lump crab meat. All came with coleslaw, and a side. We got onion rings and French fries and they were good. They weren't the cheap onion rings. They were battered not breaded, and thats how I like them. The spicy clams and mussels really had a kick, so be prepared because it was a little too much for the ladies at our table. The oyster stew was not as thick as we wanted and was a little watery. My crab cake was packed with jumbo lump crab and the whole meal was really delicious and filling. This is why this place has stood the test of time!

I ordered takeout online. Fried shrimp platter ( cheese fries and coleslaw) and 2 large garlic butter blue crabs($4 each ). Nice amount of food in the lunch platter which was a little over $10 with tax. You can also eat inside. The decor is really cute , casual, and gives a being on a ship/ nautical vibe.

My server was very nice and cheerful, good energy, good vibes. The atmosphere old school seafare appearance and very clean. The food is very fresh.

Not much atmosphere. In fact no atmosphere. Restaurant tables behind a seafood counter. But hold on to your hat. Some of the best prepared seafood anywhere. Try the oyster stew. Thank me later.

Props to GRUB HUB, who delivered to our office today. At our last Cap'n Cat's lunch, I picked up a GRUB HUB (business card) coupon for $10 off. Well, today, I happily used it and it was PERFECT! I called GH and gave them our order, (with my coupon code of "LOCAL,") they confirmed it, emailed and texted me the detailed order confirmation. After that, I got texts about when my driver a) - arrived at CC's, b) - when they left CC's and c) - when they arrived at our office! WOW! I'm totally new to GH, so I Google'd about tipping - it was suggested "20% of your food bill or $5, whichever is greater." I gave 18%. This process was simple and an absolute 5 star experience. Props to my cute (female - holla!) delivery driver for both her personality AND for having change of every type on tap! Definitely will order again :)

Cap'n Cat is one of my favorite places to go for great seafood and not break the bank. They are located in a strip mall and not very fancy. The inside decor is fun, but more importantly, the food is delicious. You can dine in or take out. I tend to get the Broiler Combination Deluxe and this time I chose to try the Lobster and Crab Bisque, which was amazing. Typically, when I go, on a Sunday afternoon there is no one else dining in and just a few people getting take out. They usually only have one waitress then, so if you have a big party, I would call ahead.

The mild wings were extra crispy and full of flavor, and the blue cheese that came with them was great. The nicely plated chicken cheesesteak egg rolls were really good too, and I loved that they use Liscio's seeded bread for their sandwiches. It's soft and fluffy on the outside with that perfect crunch on the outside of the chicken. Their hot honey sauce had a nice mix of sweet and spicy, and the fries were cooked perfectly. Drinks were made well, and my cosmo looked great and tasted even better. The chicken quesadilla was stuffed with fillings, though I wasn't really into the cream cheese on the side. Prefer sour cream. The salsa it came with was fresh and flavorful. Service was quick and friendly, but the atmosphere felt a little awkward. There wasn't any music playing, just TVs with an NBA on with commercials which made it a bit too quiet & odd. The pool tables seemed to be the main draw since people were playing constantly. Overall, great food and drinks with friendly service. I just wish there was some background music or a livelier vibe inside because the food alone makes it worth coming back for.

We didn't realize that the restaurant was a part of a country club until we arrived (no where in the reviews did it mention this) but we've done brunch at other country clubs throughout Jersey and it was wonderful. Upon entering the restaurant we saw their only brunch option was for a brunch buffet and from our quick scans of the buffet walking to the hostess stand we all decided we would not be doing brunch (pastries looked like they were from Coscto, warm food looked as though it had been sitting there for a while and the omelettes coming from the omelette station didn't look spectacular so we opted to do their lunch menu instead. Service was SSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW! From the very beginning until the very end. It took about 15 minutes before our server arrived to greet us, then another 15 for our first round of cocktails to come out, the about a half an hour for us to be told that they were out of 1 of the 3 appetizers we ordered ... so no lie, after being there a full hour we finally received 2 of the 3 appetizers and were then just able to order a second round of cocktails and our main courses. The cocktails weren't the greatest either. We thought perhaps the first round was our fault because we all tried their "blackberry espresso martini" and we knew it was a risk from the beginning ... so we ordered "safer" cocktails for round 2 and the prosecco based cocktails were even worse than the blackberry espresso martinis smh. I truly don't understand how one messes up prosecco + a splash of limoncello and cranberry (that was what was supposed to be in the cocktail) but they certainly messed it up, to the point where I didn't drink it. Our entrees finally arrived and WOMP WOMP WOMP! Overall every single one was MID at best ... and all I had was French onion soup and a wedge salad .... like how is it possible for those to be BLAH? Food was so MEH we didn't even take pics lol. Needless to say we all agreed we wouldn't be back and wished we had decided on what was our 2nd option for brunch instead.

There's two dining areas that can be chosen with one having a bar that can seat 10+ people. Started with a couple of great drinks and their french onion soup. The sandwich needed more chipotle mayo on the side which was great for the fries. My medium rare wagyu burger with the bacon jam was HUGE! The jam did taste like beef jerky which was a new experience. We will definitely be back to try some of their other menu items.

Out of all of my visits, my favorite is the weekend brunch menu. There are so many yummy things to choose from like the breakfast burrito, the banana Forester French toast, the various of Benedict's including crab, and there were a bunch of various breakfast sandwiches, but the most menu appealing one that I liked is the pork roll. On my last trip I wound getting a chicken brie apples bacon on brioche bread. It was a special of the day. From the moment I bid into it, I knew I would love it for the savoriness, the crisp and sweet tasting bread. There was a side of potatoes... Very nicely seasoned and the perfect crunch to them. On my last visit, it was a total of 10 people in our group and the customer service was great. We were all able to pay with separate checks... Always a perk. Fortunately, the food matched the service. My only complaint was that my burger was so juicy it squirted onto my shirt when I took a bite. That said, I'd sacrifice a shirt every time I can here if it meant I'd be treated to a perfectly juicy, expertly cooked patty. The sides were great too, led by the truffle fries. They had the perfect amount of Parmesan, finely grated so you didn't feel like you were just eating chunks of cheese, and the truffle oil was delicious. She explained the menu well, shared a few laughs with us, and truly added to our overall experience. And the food--delicious! The crab dip was absolutely amazing. The short ribs were tender and full of flavor, and the grilled pork chop was huge, juicy, and cooked perfectly. Everything we ordered was delightful. Then came dessert! My daughter loves Key lime pie, but I normally do not. Well, Redstone changed my mind! Oh my goodness! The creaminess, buttery flavor, and overall deliciousness of that Key lime pie had us going crazy. I instantly became a Key lime pie fan--it was THAT good! Now for the one CON: the women's restroom. Redstone, your restaurant is beautiful, the food and service are excellent, and our bill for two was over $200, so the restrooms should reflect the same level of quality. Unfortunately, they did not. The glass doors looked like they needed a thorough cleaning, the tile and grout were noticeably dirty, and the toilets were extremely low. Thankfully my knees are good, because getting that low was an experience all by itself! The restroom area could definitely use a deep cleaning and some updating. That being said, our overall dining experience was wonderful, and a BIG shout-out to Emily for making our visit so enjoyable. Great service can truly elevate an evening, and she certainly did that for us. We will definitely return--and yes, I'll be ordering that Key lime pie again!
