This seafood Restaraunt is amazing, we went on a busy Saturday Sunday evening so the wait seemed longer then it actually was. I ordered snow crab legs and shrimp with the garlic butter. The sauce was amazing! I love fried mushrooms and not too many restaurants still have them so they were a perfect side for me, the mashed potatoes were good just needed to be added to the butter garlic for an amazing taste. This is a BYOB restaurant, where you can bring your own beer and wine. We came in at around two or so on Sunday and were seated immediately. Our server was great, but I will say that we didn't see her much. Because we had our own drinks, I guess there wasn't a need to check in too much. Food breakdown below: Six blue crabs: BOMB. Well seasoned and dirty. But needed old bay lol. Probs should've asked but it's fine. Cajun shrimp deviled eggs: I would pass on these in the future. The shrimp, themselves, had good flavor. The egg filling was very bland. Mussels: I actually came across a lot of mussels that were empty. That said, the flavor was really good. Buffalo garlic shrimp: these were probably the weakest link. They were basic AF and while it's hard to mess up the flavor of buffalo sauce, you couldn't taste the garlic at all. Additionally, the texture of the coding was off, and the shrimp tasted overcooked. They were served with fries and those weren't very good either. Also, they do not have good ranch, for the record. In all, what I can absolutely tell you is that we will be back. We love crabs and for the amount of crabs and the flavor we got here, we would probably spend far more in a place like Baltimore. In total, I think we spent somewhere between 110 to 120. What was average or worse: Our main complaints were the saltiness of the food and overwhelming greasiness. Portions are very large and the seafood is good. It's not a big place, so was packed on a warm Sunday night. I'd hoped for a lobster, but they were too small to make the effort worth it. The menu has lots of choices though. I got the Buffalo Garlic Scallops, Clam Chowder and a Garden Salad. They made an error on the scallops and brought them out fried, instead of sautéed as I asked, so had to redo them. I've never seen scallops fried before, so I thought that was a bit odd. They were pretty good, a little on the spicy side. The clam chowder was really luscious and delicious. It really was excellent, and my favorite thing. They make sure they don't need to come back to refill your glass, so the ice tea we received was a mammoth sized glass! I got the unsweetened, and, sorry to say I've had much better. Perhaps the sweet tea is better than the unsweetened. My friend got crabcakes, and I have to say that they were really excellent. I'd probably get those next time. I had dinner entrée envy. LOL! Asked the server again for a cracker and he said they had to clean them. Waited 15 minutes. Nothing. Cold crab. Left 1/2 the 1.5 lbs in the bowl. Paid. Left. First off, I would like to say the food was amazing. It came out hot. It was so flavorful and we got a nice amount. We could have shared if we wanted to. The service was great even though it was just two of us. We did not have reservations so when we came in. We had to put our name on the list and it was about 30 minutes before we were called and seated which was not bad. I do recommend calling ahead of arrival so you will not have a wait. They do not serve alcohol, but it is BYOB so we did bring a bottle of wine to drink to have along with our dinner. They do offer juice, so we did order a lemonade as well. It is a family friendly restaurant even though I did not see any kids in there that night. It's a small place, so it's kinda intimate but it's very relaxed. Staff was friendly and food came out fast. I'm eight months pregnant and I was having a really great day. I had a taste for crab and I suggested to my Mom that we have lunch at Blue Claw. I had not been there in years. We arrived and we were seated. We both ordered the Arnold Palmer which arrived promptly in a large mason jar. They were DELICIOUS and REFRESHING. Let me tell you, that was the absolute END of the good dining experience. I ordered the soft shell crab basket and my Mom ordered the crab cake sliders (appetizer). The food was terrible. They give you one soft shell crab that was tiny and full of crab poop. I took one bite and it tasted awful. My Mom felt sorry for me and offered me one of her crab cake sliders that was 90% Hawaiian Roll and 10% stale, awful tasting, filler with not even a HINT of crab meat. I took one bite and wanted to spit it out, but did not want to be impolite, so I choked it down. The Coleslaw and mystery sauce trying hard to masquerade as a remoulade, was a cover up for that awful excuse for a "crab cake" the size of a quarter. You can't mess up French fries so I ate those for the sake of having something on my stomach for the baby. Our server was very indifferent to us. She never came back and asked us how our meal was. She acted like she didn't see all the unconsumed food on our plates. She brought the bill. I paid and tipped her the obligatory 20% even though she did nothing to earn it except be a server. There was no above and beyond which is pathetic for so early in the day. The worse part is these people are making money hand over fist largely from the Black Community who seem to be willing to sell their soul for a bucket of crabs. STOP GIVING THESE CROOKS YOUR MONEY just to sit in a tight, tiny and dimly lit dining area and get the bare minimum service and quality of food. Blue claw can afford to expand their dining area and their parking. So I finally took a drive and surprise my husband after I took him shopping at the Gloucester outlet. I put the address in my GBS and off we went. When we was driving my husband kept asking me where are we going when I made a different turn to go home. It was a distance from the outlet, but we still went. I just wanted to try the food because everyone keep talking about it. I wanted some crabs. It's a small place and this place remind me of a little place down South. Some of the staff was helpful and some of them was rude. The food was really good and the staff wasn't helpful with the menu. Because an older lady order some crabs and two sides. She thought that she was ordering the $29.00 crabs only but she wasn't and she was very angry. And the staff member was going back and forth with the older lady. Sometimes it is how you talk ro the customer. The staff should've just explainedit to the customer and they need to read back whelat the customerwanted so they won't get it wrong. Just like my husband he wanted crab legs but wound up ordering 1.5 and that was a whole platter but he didn't get his sides. So he paid $49.99 for two Custer. And I ask him do you what you order he said yes. But when it came out that not what he wanted but he said it ok. But if the staff members would have told him or explained it but me just say that the steam clams with only garlic Wes delicious I wanted to order more. But I was telling my husband that I can't order everything on the menu because we are coming back and we can try other items on the menu. The big glass of water was so good and wash everything down. And their is no refill on the sodas. The place is a byob and I didn't know because I would've brought me a bottle of wine. The crabs was good and they even clean them for you at a cost .25 to .50 cent a peice. You can call to make reservations. Or you can take a drive up their and sign in and you might get seated fast Sometimes you might have to wait. I want to go back for the all you can eat crabs. They only have all you can eat crabs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But call and check the days and time. We order the seafood comb and it was good. I wanted to order the onion rings and the clam chowder but the menu had some much that I couldn't make my mind up. They also have take out. But if I drive all the way to the Restaurant I'll be eating my hot food. To drivr that far this is a treat for us because we live in Philly. I ordered again through DoorDash, seamless and I appreciate that someone called me back after I couldn't remember how to order individual blues through DoorDash. Exceptional service. As usual the food was good, I got snow parts, an individual Blue, and a crab cake basket with mashed potatoes and fried mushrooms. The snow parts were a little overcooked because they were so hard to slide out the shell but they were still tasty, nice and sweet. I like them a lot. Next time I won't deviate from my normal order because I didn't like the crab cake too much. I was thinking that it would be more lump meat, it wasn't. Not bad, just not good to me. Lastly, I will never in life order sides from there. I don't know what those garlic mashed potatoes were but they were terrible. They tasted look nothing and felt like paste in my mouth, they were awful. But this is a SEAFOOD restaurant, not a sides restaurant so I let it slide. Great seafood & affordable prices! The last few times I went everything was so fresh & the portions are generous. I love the pick & peel shrimp. You get a 1/2 lb & it's very filling. The side of fried mushrooms are an excellent choice. The mushrooms are nice & hearty & served with a horseradish dipping sauce. The broiled scallop dinner is also delicious & so is the macaroni & cheese. This place isn't huge & is always crowded on weekends so plan to wait for a table since they don't take reservations. Sadly out of 8 of the crabs 6 of them didn't have the claws which to me is the best part. When I called the employee at Blue Claw restaurant stated that the batch or shipment mostly were missing the claws but they price by weight then I spoke to manager and she stated the same thing. The manager did not satisfied me with her answers, so I asked will she make up the claws on my next order and she says I will take away the claws from someone else. Great service, lots of shellfish on butcher paper and ginormous drinks! We were in the mood for crabs and this place delivered. The guys got 8 blue crabs (order by the size from the front case). They weren't yet in season so they were a little small, but 8 was plenty for big men. My daughter and I split 3 lbs of Dungeness crabs at our server's recommendation that they are sweeter and she can eat 2 clusters herself (2clusters/lb). We got a little greedy after eating 1 cluster, thinking 2 lbs were not enough so ordered another pound. Should have stuck with 2! The crabs came with the house garlic butter which is more garlic than butter - not for the faint of heart! You have to ask for plain butter if that's what you prefer. You can order your crabs clean or dirty, meaning they clean out the guts or not, with Old Bay spice or plain steamed. Don't forget dessert - my daughter loved the banana pudding and it was nice to get funnel cake just like they serve on a boardwalk!
