    Cajun shrimp deviled eggs
    Destiny E.

This is a BYOB restaurant, where you can bring your own beer and wine. We came in at around two or so on Sunday and were seated immediately. Our server was great, but I will say that we didn't see her much. Because we had our own drinks, I guess there wasn't a need to check in too much. Food breakdown below: Six blue crabs: BOMB. Well seasoned and dirty. But needed old bay lol. Probs should've asked but it's fine. Cajun shrimp deviled eggs: I would pass on these in the future. The shrimp, themselves, had good flavor. The egg filling was very bland. Mussels: I actually came across a lot of mussels that were empty. That said, the flavor was really good. Buffalo garlic shrimp: these were probably the weakest link. They were basic AF and while it's hard to mess up the flavor of buffalo sauce, you couldn't taste the garlic at all. Additionally, the texture of the coding was off, and the shrimp tasted overcooked. They were served with fries and those weren't very good either. Also, they do not have good ranch, for the record. In all, what I can absolutely tell you is that we will be back. We love crabs and for the amount of crabs and the flavor we got here, we would probably spend far more in a place like Baltimore. In total, I think we spent somewhere between 110 to 120. Not bad.

One of my NJ secrets. I almost don't want to share in fear of it getting too crowded! But run don't walk!! Seafood never disappoints!! I'm a blue crab eater with garlic, butter, old bay the works. Cleaned & steamed. Mouth watering juicy!! Love the crab nachos & stoner fries! Oh it's BYOB! It's not too small & not too big. The parking lot is small but depending on the day finding a spot isn't an issue. It's clean inside & service is good.

After eating at blue claw, you will never want to try another seafood restaurant again. The freshness, quality, and flavor are unmatched. In a world of mediocre seafood boils, blue claw sticks tried and true to the classic garlic butter steamed seafood!!! The crab legs and blue crabs are a MUST of course. Aside from the main event, you have to try the buffalo shrimp, it is my favorite for sure. I always try to taste something different when I come because the food here is just amazing!!! And has been consistently for YEARS! Love blue claw down.

3 stars because I'm giving grace because it was Mother's Day and they were crazy busy, the wait was 45 mins. It's was so cold inside that I was uncomfortable the whole time. Our appetizers came out probably 15-20 minutes after we ordered, our entrees came out 30 minutes after our appetizers. The staff were really busy but we felt ignored. We really enjoyed the appetizers which made us more excited about our entrees. The entrees were a big disappointment. My husband's scallop and shrimp pasta tasted like someone dropped a whole bottle of lemon juice into it. He sent it back. I got the crab feast and it was covered in garlic, there was no other flavor. When I asked for more seasoning. By time I got it my food was cold. Because it was Mother's Day they added 20% gratuity. I traveled almost an hour to try this place. I would go back

Checked out Blue Claw today and enjoyed it. The service was very prompt and the food came out very fast. We ordered seafood by the pound and the snow crab shrimp combo. For appetizers, we tried the fried oysters and shrimp stuffed deviled eggs. All the food was comforting and cooked very well. The spot overall was cozy and perfect for a cold day when you're craving seafood.

Combo Scallops, Basa & Crab Cake.

What we liked: The service was excellent. The deviled eggs, broiled scallops, and lobster bisque soup rocked. What could have been upgraded: The ambience was no frills and boring. What was average or worse: Our main complaints were the saltiness of the food and overwhelming greasiness. For example, the soft shell crab tasted like French fries, leading us to think that everything was fried in the same old oil. My broccoli was rubbery and they exchanged it for their coleslaw. The crab with vegetables soup was lackluster. Also, some portions of seafood for the price were small. Overall, I would recommend getting the seafood broiled and not fried. We liked the vibe despite all of above, and would have given a rating of 3.5 stars. I might try it again because there are very few seafood places in this neighborhood.

The food here is always fresh and delicious. I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so.

Portions are very large and the seafood is good. It's not a big place, so was packed on a warm Sunday night. I'd hoped for a lobster, but they were too small to make the effort worth it. The menu has lots of choices though. I got the Buffalo Garlic Scallops, Clam Chowder and a Garden Salad. They made an error on the scallops and brought them out fried, instead of sautéed as I asked, so had to redo them. I've never seen scallops fried before, so I thought that was a bit odd. They were pretty good, a little on the spicy side. The clam chowder was really luscious and delicious. It really was excellent, and my favorite thing. They make sure they don't need to come back to refill your glass, so the ice tea we received was a mammoth sized glass! I got the unsweetened, and, sorry to say I've had much better. Perhaps the sweet tea is better than the unsweetened. My friend got crabcakes, and I have to say that they were really excellent. I'd probably get those next time. I had dinner entrée envy. LOL! After all that, there was no room for dessert. There were lots of happy faces at the tables around the place. It seems that hard shell crabs were a big favorite.

First off, I would like to say the food was amazing. It came out hot. It was so flavorful and we got a nice amount. We could have shared if we wanted to. The service was great even though it was just two of us. We did not have reservations so when we came in. We had to put our name on the list and it was about 30 minutes before we were called and seated which was not bad. I do recommend calling ahead of arrival so you will not have a wait. They do not serve alcohol, but it is BYOB so we did bring a bottle of wine to drink to have along with our dinner. They do offer juice, so we did order a lemonade as well. It is a family friendly restaurant even though I did not see any kids in there that night. It's a small place, so it's kinda intimate but it's very relaxed. Staff was friendly and food came out fast. Definitely recommend this place if your seafood lover.

Walking in it was lively in the bar area because they were having a trivia night where you can win gift cards. They also have other daily events and happy hours which was great to know. We were immediately seated and our server arrived a few minutes later which was nice bc it gave us time to peek at the menu which is extensive but it was really fun because it's an actual little newspaper which was cute. We ordered the crab dip and a mango martini for me and a blood orange margarita for him of which all three were really good! So much crab dip that we took 1/2 home. And the bread and veggies they serve it with both hit! Entree wise we both ordered items we felt would tell us all we needed to know regarding whether or not they were a legit seafood restaurant - a fried shrimp basket and a broiled combo platter .... BOTH AMAZING! The fried shrimp were MASSIVE and the broiled platter was well seasoned and cooked wonderfully. We had no room for dessert but the menu sounded great. Oh our server was also wonderful! I first tried some take out from them when my husband and I just moved into the area, & I was trying to get a feel for the good food spots. What I got was ehhhhh not memorable. It confused both of us that it seemed like a nice building, but the parking lot was never full- even on the weekends. A girlfriend of mine was visiting this evening, and we originally wanted to venture to Curtains Wharf for an outdoor on the water experience. An hour and a half wait, no thank you, and I said hey, let's go to Il Portico-been meaning to. Inside is very dated. It's got the vibes of a 1950's Italian cigar lounge. Again not busy, maybe 5 or 6 tables the whole twoish hours we were there. However, the staff seemed to really be trying to accommodate you, everyone was polite and helpful. A cocktail list and wine by glass list would really go far. We got some bread for the table, some of it was kind of rock hard & looked day old, but some of what looked like focaccia bread was good. We got excited for carpaccio on the apps side, but were disappointed to find it wasn't beef, but salmon (?) in an Italian restaurant? Odd. And we also saw a lot of Tuna options for entrees, again, odd. I did want steak originally, but NY strip isn't my fave, and I opted for Veal Medallions- very good. Sauce was delicious, veggies cooked just fine. $12 for an Arugula starter salad with legit, one tomato wedge was again ... odd. My friend had the beet salad and Branzino special, said they were both good. Only off thing was her Old Fashioned had the coloration of a Shirley Temple, but the flavor was on par and good. A couple weird little moments but we really enjoyed ourselves & would love to return.
