The beer was flat the resaurant was freezing and the chicken wings were fried so long that they were dried out completly. Our server who told us she was the manager was very unprofessional and wanted to argue that we ate some of the wings so in her mind they must be good. Keep your money away from this hole. read more

Came here the week of 8/9/19, came upon it while walking around. Our son said he goes here often (grad student). Aside from tons of seating, service was really slow and the beer menu was just mediocre. Maybe for the college crowd or those that don't appreciate great craft brew, this is your place. I felt like hitting a pub for supper so went to Bobby O'Brien's Irish Pub, which is a couple blocks from my hotel. I'd been there in July 2010 and enjoyed it. I ordered garlic bread with cheese and wings with Frank's Buffalo. The garlic bread was good. The bread was soft with lots of butter and cheese. The wings were good too ... just the right amount of heat. There were eight wings to a pound and they were a good size. It was fairly quiet when I got there just before 7pm. Tuesday nights are trivia night at 8:30pm so it was starting to fill up when I left. The food was good and Tanya took good care of me. She was super friendly and helpful. read more

Walked in here on a Saturday night before a movie. Waited for 5 min before anyone came around to seat us. Bad start. This place was not busy at all, and somehow had 3 bartenders working, while there was no servers to be found. We ordered quickly as we figured out we would be waiting forever here, and might miss our movie. It took 45 minutes for them to send out a wrap and 2 salads. On top of that, the carrots and lettuce in the salad was so dried up it was barely edible. I would not recommend this place or ever come back here again. We were going to go here for dinner and had been in the sun all day. When asked for shade table was met with some attitude and told you can pick a picnic table. when ask about a table we were told no we don't have servers for that section but there were a few tables with people. The only reason it has 2 star is our server was very polite and apologized. Needless to say we had 1 drink and took our dining experience elsewhere. Was very disappointed in the hostess and turned us off from the moment we asked for a shady table. read more

Ate a meal with my gf but was not impressed with service or food for the price. Massive wait time for beer refill because employees are always engaged in conversation with each other. No professionalism across the board. Then after not tipping our waitress for poor service and messing up order a few times. She threw the debit machine and rushed off with a scowl on her face. Great food, and good student deals! My personal favorite is a free pound of wings with purchase of ANY drink for students, and man are the wings good. Service is great, and the ambiance is just the way I like it. It's cool that they have a volleyball court too. I'm hoping to go back next week and try out something else on the menu. Service: Helpful Atmosphere: Typical Bar Food: A good twist Would return? Yes. I was able to get a half day off work and went downtown to take care of some errands. I met up with my girlfriend and we decided to pop in for a quick lunch. We walked into what seemed like a fairly typical looking bar. Nothing fancy just plain wooding, booths and stools; exactly what we were looking for and wanting. After looking over the menu I saw that there was a drink called the black and tan. I asked what that was and the waitress explained it was a mix of a ale and cider. Curious, I ordered it and ya, it was pretty good. The nutty ale meshed well with the fruitiness of the cider. We both decided on the chicken wings: honey garlic, curry, and sweet chili. I was happy to see they had some uncommon flavours like the curry. They all came out in quick order and everything taste quite good. The wings were a fair size and not overdone like some places treat their bar food. All in all the service was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was to be expected, and the food good. Not only that, but it seems like they have some original flavours and some unique twists on some drinks. If I'm in the area I'll definitely be stopping there again. read more

Was visiting Kitchener for a family birthday and decided on Bobby Obrien's as a place to celebrate before seeing a show down the street. We were coming here to celebrate a birthday of one of the cast of the show so we were time limited. We arrived at 4:45 well In Time for happy hour ordering (happy hour was 2-5pm) we sat and waited and waited and waited finally about 10 Mins later a waitress came to us. She offered to take our drink order at this point. One of the persons we had in our party was special needs and takes extra time To eat being on a schedule we asked if we could put his order in and this seemed to be a bit off putting to the waitress but she complied. I should say, We were a party of 5 and there was one other table in the restaurant with patrons at it. 5 mins later The waitress returned with our beverages 2 pops and a glass of water, and it was now 5 pm. We wanted to partake in some of the happy hour menu items only to be told that we had missed the cut off. When we mentioned that we had been there before 5 but were waiting for her to serve us she informed us that we had More than enough time to order them but wanted her to get the order in for our special needs guest and so we missed out --- we should have told her that we wanted something earlier. My husband was annoyed but said ok. We mentioned that we were on a bit of a schedule because our birthday girl had to be back at the stage by 6 pm (now 55 mins later) but that we would need a few minutes to reconsider our order. With tremendous attitude she turned and walked away. At 5:15 she still had not come back to take our order, so we flagged down another waitress to ask ours to return to our table. The birthday girl was getting anxious as she had a deadline. At 5:23 the waitress returned with the burger we had ordered earlier and took our orders. The food finally shows up to the table at 5:40, which left our birthday guest of honour 10 Minutes to eat. There was birthday cake and candles that we had given the waitress but there was no time for that as our birthday girl had to get back to the production. We ate the rest of our meal with out her and ended up having the birthday cake without her as well. What a ruin of a special day. To top it all off, when the bill came it was wrong. We had ordered items that were on special and she charged us full price ($15.99 instead of $9) and the kids meal we had ordered for our special needs guest was to come with a pop and a dessert. We were charged full price for a kids pop in addition to the combo and no dessert ever materialized. The whole experience was just terrible! I will admit the food when it finally did come was tasty but the poor service and the ruining of a birthday celebration will ensure that I would NEVER recommend this place. There are many other establishments on this stretch of King street in Kitchener, do yourself a favour and go to one of them, not this one! read more

Non-existence service. Do servers even work here? I'm sitting here on a Saturday night watching UFC. The place is 95% full, but drinks and food orders are not being taken. There's a girl walking around aimlessly with her sleeves over her hands - she switched my menu to a late night one but when I told her I wanted to order she ignored me. The other identifiable servers walk around looking busy with their heads down and avoid eye contact. I have been trying to wave someone down ever since I got here. And it's been over an hour. The guy beside me has been here for two hours and cannot get any table service. He's watched his ufc fights and left. I do not see anyone entering in any orders at the pos system. Management please do something about this. I would like to get a drink and you're losing money. I'm giving this place one star because I got to watch the fight for free. read more

Walking down King Street, my date and I noticed the menu said Half Priced Burgers on Wednesday nights. Seeing it was a Wednesday night, we decided to grab a bite. The terms noted we had to purchase a drink, which we did. But after we ordered drinks and the waitress came back to take our orders she informed us that only the Vegetarian and Chicken burgers were half price. So I re-checked that fine print and nothing. The waitress apologized and said it had been like that for a while. But again, the terms were buy a drink and get your burger for half-price. Not buy a drink and we'll add more verbal terms at time of order. Realizing I'd been duped I decided to get their best burger with sweet potato fries but the fries didn't come with the spicy mayo. It's an additional $0.50 for the spicy mayo. Needless to say, if it was not for the great blues band playing, I would have been really annoyed. Even my date was annoyed. We came to Watch the hip concert on the big screen. After waiting a half hour at the bar the bartender sold us a pitcher of Coors light. It tasted like absolute garbage. We tried to talk to the bartender and he suggested we buy bottles or don't buy Coors. He wouldn't give us a different beer, he basically said too bad that's what you get. He acknowledged that something was wrong with the Coors and sold it anyways and did nothing about the complaints. It's a really cool looking place but they domt care about customers at all. Passed by this place in downtown Kitchener. The waitress tried to seat us at a location where we could still see the band. We saw the specials outside and was surprised that they had a student deal on Fridays where they offered a free pound of wings with the purchase of a drink. We asked the waitress what drinks we could choose from, and she told us pop was the least expensive. In the end, we recieved 6 wings each with a pop. Couldn't believe how cheap the bill was! Service was great, and they even asked us to come back next Friday. (I doubt they made any money from our order) read more

This place does have a large patio, so, if you're looking for a random place to host largish crowds, without reservation, this might be a fair choice. If you go here in the fall, winter, or early spring, then it's an enjoyable sports bar, as far as generic sports bars go. Why they call it "Irish", I have no idea. The place used to be called "The Still", which is basically the same as it is now, except they make the women wear kilts. I guess it's now an Irish pub with Corona umbrellas...? So, in the fall, winter, or early spring, you will get regular service and paint by number food at a good price. Drinks are not priced competitively. This is the period where the regulars are working and they are friendly. Frankly, they are desperate for customers at that time. So you will be well attended, and their beer selection is good. But, woebegone if you come to this place in the summer. All their hired student help is temporary and has a chip on their shoulder. Do NOT bother with this place in the summer unless you're a teenager with no money and a fake ID. During that time. the staff is temporary and arrogant, the service is likewise slow and condescending. This is another place that doesn't know if it's a pub or a restaurant. You can bring kids here, if you're that kind of parent; but you can't use language here, in case it's a restaurant; There are better choices very close by. Based on prices, attitude, and crowd, look very closely and you'll find something more suited to your tastes. read more
