Here We Go!!! Bobo's BBQ. Never been here. Oldest and Wifey who are with me tonight have been here, but I never have. So, first, let's talk about the place. First off, it has a drive through, so we are not talking upscale, but it's not a dive. It's a nice clean place. Pretty small, but quite clean. And we noticed many drive thru and pick up orders! Fountain drinks and many sauce choices to boot. Sauces I tried: Cherry Chipotle: excellent! A little bit spicy, but not enough to deter any but the most sensitive palate. Pineapple Horseradish: fantastic! Oh my. I gotta learn how to make this. Chipotle peach: a good sauce. I didn't rave about it like the first two, but it's good. As wifey said, very good for chicken even though she poured it all over her brisket. She says this may be her fave or that it is tied with my fave - the pineapple horseradish. Mild: a very nice sauce! A little smoky flavor makes it pretty smashingly good. There are a few others that we didn't get. A Habanero Mango, a Hot, and another that I forgot... I got the Redneck Pork Nachos. Verdict: Great! A few too many jalapeño slices, but those are removable. Fries, pulled pork, melted nacho cheese, what could go wrong? Nothing! I was still wanting delicious food, so I ordered a Polish Sausage Sandwich. Now, this was a bit silly as I was pretty full, but I wanted something delicious again. Anyway, it was worth the required waddle to the car afterwards. In fact, just to explain, I wouldn't even get ICE CREAM!!!! That has never happened in my life!!! EVER!!! I've ALWAYS had room for ice cream! Anyway... Oldest got the pulled chicken sandwich. Hard to get much review from her, very short phrases and all. It wasn't enough, so she got another sandwich, brisket this time. The brisket was just as good as the chicken. She couldn't decide which was better. She says it depends on your mood, but both are good. Maybe a slight nod to the chicken because of the crispy edges. Wifey: Wifey got the brisket platter with baked beans and the fries. The brisket was a balanced blend of the moist and lean cuts with little pieces of burnt ends with it. Perfection! The French fries were the real deal sliced potatoes, fried "Jersey Shore" style (IYKYK). What a treat that was for the native Philly girl. The baked beans were next level. They were simmered with brisket and peaches in their famous bbq sauce. Wifey says they were calling to her so she answered the call and she was NOT sorry! They were so good! She was one very happy wifey tonight -y! Overall, it was a great outing to a new place! This might come into rotation in Champaign as a go to place. I don't think it's the right place for a romantic date. But, it's a great third or fourth date place. It's also not the place to take a business client, but, it's a great place for business coworkers.

The Best ribs in town. Fantastic customer service. They are very friendly and very quick on getting the food ready to go or to dine in. The different flavors of the BBQ Sauce is amazing.

    Bobo's!

Smash burgers are wonderful! The wife and I both really enjoyed them! Try the brisket! Service was great! Cozy restaurant!

Best Brisket in champaign, il. Love the variety of all bbq sauce!! Mac and cheese in fantastic and corn bread is to die for

I had the pulled pork plate with baked beans, potato salad and corn bread. I chose the Cherry Cayenne and the Mango Habenero sauces. The pork had a good smoked and fresh flavor. I enjoyed both of the sauces, not too spicy, sweet with heat. My wife had the turkey sandwich with mac and cheese. The turkey had a nice smokey flavor and was not dry.

The smell of bbq overcomes you as you enter the building and you're instantly hungry. You're then either annoyed, tickled, or confused by the blackboard with a political or societal "joke" (I'm keeping politics aside in this review). Finally, you're intrigued as you look at the numerous unique blends of sauces that you get to try or bring home. One of the best things about Bobo's is their pulled pork, which is genuinely up to par with any other bbq place in CU (yes, including Black Dog). I do not however love their brisket, which has been mostly dry in my experience. The sauces can save it though. My favorites are the grilled peach chipotle, Dr. Pepper, and the pineapple one. They also offer a chipotle mac & cheese, which gives it a nice subtle kick. Drive thru available as well, which as we all know can often be clutch.

My dad recommended I check the spot out, so I went in with the impression I was going to be blown away. Unfortunately, i was less than impressed. Let's start with customer service, the woman who was running the register was oh so kind and welcoming. As she went out to wipe down some dirty tables I heard a gentleman yell very rudely at her from some room in the back (I'm assuming was an office) to stop worrying about the tables and get over there and answer the call. Maybe that's me being too harsh but he was very very rude to her. In terms of food, I got the pulled pork platter with fries and coleslaw. Pulled pork started off rather tasty although it was pretty cold, which wasn't wonderful. I also found a piece of plastic that looked to be from some sort of wrapper in my meat so that quickly halted that portion of the meal. Fries were great, nicely deep fried. Coleslaw was also rather tasty! The corn bread was pretty good although it tasted like it probably came out of a box. They had unique sauces, I tried the Dr. Pepper and the chipotle peach. They were both really really good. Overall, not bad for a cheap quick meal. Don't expect super friendly attitudes from all staff and please watch your food as you eat.

Both were hot and sweet, my favorite type of sauce. The red cabbage coleslaw was delicious and plentiful. The green beans and tomatoes were awesome. I wish they had greens too , but no. I also tried the polish sausage because somebody on Yelp said it was secretly the best thing on the menu. It was very good, but I'd say the brisket was better. Lots of nice craft beers available - some local. The service was nice and friendly. Nicole was my bartender/server. I enjoyed hearing about her favorite menu items. As you'll see from my receipt, everything has an itemized cost, so the place is a little pricey. But still worth it to me.

A few menu items were already sold out, but the smoky BBQ smell hit us from almost a block away, which definitely built the anticipation. I ordered the burnt ends sandwich without the bun. The flavor was really good and smoky, but the portions felt a little small overall. The coleslaw came in a small sauce cup, which was disappointing. The green beans had great flavor, and the twice baked potato casserole was tasty too, just smaller than expected. Service was friendly and the food came out really fast, so it seemed like everything was prepped and ready to go. Overall, good BBQ flavor and worth checking out if you're in town, especially if you love smoky meats -- just don't expect huge portions. Plus you had to pay for extra sauce and didn't have an option to try the different flavors, which was a bummer.
