Food wasn't very tasty . The turkey tips had a bad flavor/taste to them. They best dish was the chicken and tips combo. The mild sauce was delicious. The Jerk wings were ok. However, the baked beans were straight from the can. Nothing was added to the beans to create a more desirable taste. The service was mediocre . I was visiting the area and told the cashier. It's consistently good. The rib tips are my favorite so far, the fries tho...they're pretty bad. They should give choices as a side maybe even for an upcharge. It's hard not to compare this BBQ joint with the former occupant of the building, Lil' Porgies. So here is my take on the comparison: I used to get the small order of rib tips from Lil' Porgies. The similar item seemed to be the "Jerk Tips." They were about one dollar more expensive. They came in a small styrofoam clamshell box. The french fries were lackluster. They may have been boiled, for how they tasted. The sauce was served on the side as requested but it was half the portion of the Lil' Porgies sauce. Probably one ounce as opposed to two ounces. The sauce was so unremarkable it might as well have been Open Pit from a bottle. The tips were almost all bone fragments and un-chewable cartilage. When it was all over, I considered going to McDonalds to complete my lunch. read more

You could give me free food from here and I still wouldn't eat it. Had a GrubHub order to my hotel today, and honestly the delivery time was awesome. That was it. Dry, chewy and bland meet. Last two times my order has been wrong, gave me beef tips instead of turkey tips. Both times it was not busy, literally a couple people in there. First time I was told that I was going to be compensated. The next time I came in, which was about a month ago thinking I was going to get compensated for my food but get told I have to talk to the owner about it. He then tells me all they can do for me is give me a medium sized tip for the price of a small, only a $2 difference I believe. Like I don't need your money or a free meal from you, it's about the principle of the situation for me. So I come in tonight, order a medium sized tip, and come back across town to Champaign and see they gave me beef tips once again... Just felt like it was real unprofessional in there regarding how they don't have a customer first based mindset at all, was rooting for wood n' hog but I'm going to have to just stick to Lil Porgy's for now on. This food is terrible. I ordered from DoorDash and the rib tips were rough and the flavor was disgusting. It tastes rough and like beef jerky. The fries were okay. The chicken wings were cooked well but no flavor and they were large wings like they have steroids. I just wouldn't go back. Don't recommend either. read more

Wood N Hog just opened their second location that used to house Lil Porgy's. Much more of a convenient location for me, even though it's a small building. Food came out extremely quick for me, while others seemed to wait a very long time. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, that came with fries, and it was delicious. Will go back soon. read more

I came back to my hometown for the weekend and wanted Lil Porgy's. We showed up and found it was Wood N' Hog. The menu looked the same so we decided to try it. I always get the half chicken dry with mild sauce on the side. The first bite of sauce tasted similar, but after a few bites I realized it wasn't the same and was too spicy for my liking. Also didn't care for the flavor as much. When I tried the chicken I thought for sure it would be just as good but it wasn't at all. The flavor didn't stand out and it was just blah. My dad got the turkey tips and we were both disappointed with those as well. The fries tasted exactly the same but weren't as good without Lil Porgy's bbq sauce. I won't be returning. My take on the new restaurant is I miss LilPorgies , the Jerk tips were good but the fries appeared to be nothing special, they were just mashed on the bottom with the Tips on top with a slice of white bread, the sauce was on the side about the same portion as Porgies but it turned to a paste when it cooled off, sorry but I miss LilPorgies at this point. They say they lightly fry the chicken, how about heavily fried? The chicken was so over cooked, it hurt my teeth to eat it. The fries were good though. I think it should be less talking and being on the phones and more watching the food.
