I'm looking for a quick, cheap sandwich, one to take back to the office, so I can continue living the high life by eating at my desk as I work through my lunch break. Hello, Bob's Deli. The business recently changed hands and, as if often the case, I heard conflicting reports as to whether the place had gone downhill, got better or slid sideways. I'm happy to report Bob's Deli is visibly cleaner, brighter and still briskly attracts locals. I saw workers from Video Games Plus, Midas and AutoZone during my last visit. Two cheery ladies worked behind the counter at lunch time. Service was brisk, friendly and efficient. Whole hoagies are $8.99 and can be split to mutual satisfaction. Whole sandwiches are $6.99. Bob's Deli offers two featured hoagies: the Grinder -- ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, pesto, mayo, mustard, oil, vinegar, onion, bell pepper, tomato, lettuce, salt and pepper; and the Works -- ham, turkey, roast beef, mustard, horseradish, cream cheese, cheddar, swiss, tomato, onion, lettuce and sprouts. Is Bob's an authentic deli? No. For that experience, I'd need to drive three hours to Portland for a meal at Kenny & Zuke's Delicatessen (yes, it is worth the trip). A must stop! I was on the road passing through town and Bob's Deli was the perfect lunch spot. Plenty of convenience store drinks and snacks, a wide selection of sandwiches and wraps, and wonderfully nice staff. I had the garden panini which was fantastic. We stopped on our way north on 5. I wish I had a place like this in my town. I got the spicy Turkey panini and had some chicken pesto pasta salad. Both were excellent. And the staff was super friendly. This is going to be a regular stop. read more

Well, saw the reviews and decided to try Bob's Deli. Bob must have been out as there were only three friendly, professional and courteous women behind the counter. And have to say, they don't need Bob. I got the 'Heater' Grilled Paninis. It was nicely grilled (as stated), lots of ingredients, tasted great, for about $8.00. My friend got the 2 Big Tacos (Taco Tuesday) for $5.25; a dollar off regular price. Now... They were some of the best tacos I've enjoyed in a very long time. They used ground beef which was very tasty and gave you a lot of it, w/ lettuce, etc. They really were excellent. Soda had free refills. :) Behind the counter was very clean, very important to me after 32 years in the food and beverage industry (and should be very important to you :). The eating area was very clean, bright, organized. Lots of locals ordering which of course is a good sign, unless you're at a homeless shelter food line. :o I'll be back for sure, maybe try something different but most likely get the tacos. Good food, but I recommend grabbing a smoothie and a punch card, because you'll want to come back for more. I had a "Foxy Colada," as the owner called it, and it was fantastic. Someone else made it for me another time, and it was horrible, so make sure the person making it knows how to make it. The employees, at least all of the ones I have come into contact with, are very friendly. It's also a convenience store, so it's a great place to grab a good lunch and get something for the road. With a restroom available for customer use as well, it's a good one-stop on the way through town. read more

I waited for 15 minutes before hanging up the phone and decided to just go there. The two ladies working were so rude, I felt like such a burden. You can tell they're really miserable. The food was good, but customer service is what really stands out in a business. I've heard nothing but bad things about the way the treat customers. I will never go back. On our road trip, we stopped in Roseburg for lunch. Thank God for Yelp (and iPhone); we avoided a series of fast food restaurants on main streets and found this deli at a small strip mall. I've been here twice this year while driving through Oregon and will make it a point to come in every time. I've had the Havartist and the spicy turkey, both delicious. The vegetarian sandwich was phenomenal: loaded with super fresh veggies, crunchy pickles, and the hoagie roll made fresh in house. There were a couple of tables and high chairs. We also got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (the cashier recommended to split it and it was a great idea because it was big- also on fresh, homemade bread). Don't make the mistake of going there on a holiday. The sandwiches will be half the size and the lady working will spend the whole time saying how she doesn't want to be there and they are supposed to be closed. The meat and cheese seemed to be pretty high quality, and the prices were good for the actual sandwiches themselves--around $7-9 each. Service was pleasant. A few cons: a .35 cent charge for using a debit card (on $18 bill), and .99 cent charge for soda refills. Seriously? It always irks me when stores do this. I'm in retail and I think it's just cheesy. Raise sandwich prices .10 or something instead. Also, the combo chips were the tiny size bags, and only weird flavors of random brands. The dining area is definitely on grimy side. This place is awesome! Just moved to Roseburg from Dallas, TX and this is by far the best sandwich shop ever. The food is fresh and and oh so tasty. If that weren't enough, the people are so nice. One sandwich artist, Cannon, was so sweet, fun and helpful. He helped me build a tomato basil wrap with turkey, roast beef, swiss, cheddar, tomatoes, spinach, onions & vinaigrette. It was so delicious and so much food. I saved half for the next day and heated it up a little. Wow, that just took the flavor to whole other level. I stopped in at 7:35 on a Thursday 4-21-16, The store was open, I stood there for approximately 5 minutes while the counter person talked on her cell phone with some friend. She ask me can I help you with the cell phone at her ear, I replied nicely I would like to order a sandwich. She said we are closed, I replied can I purchase a soda, she said my till is locked up. I replied I have the correct change, she did not say nothing and just kept talking on her phone. I stood there for a minute and walked out.
