I had one of the best experiences visiting Bob's Lock and Key. It felt like stepping through a time portal into the past, reminiscent of Norman Rockwell. The AM radio in the background was tuned into the local news. The entire wall behind the wooden counter displayed a wide variety of key blanks, neatly organized. The wooden counter itself had a collection of time worn displays and cardboard boxes, but still had enough room for me to prop up my project. The shop truly felt like how a locksmith's shop should. The tight quarters and the natural light peeking through the large windows, adorned with signs and decals, added to the Rockwell ambiance. Next to the wooden counter, there was a glass cabinet filled with various items. The counter top was taken up by things that had been placed there a long time ago. I will assume that the person I met was Bob, a pleasant and patient mature gentleman. I explained my locksmith need, which was to have a new key made for a set of motorcycle panniers that I had purchased without any keys. With toothpick in mouth, Bob was able to accomplish this in less than 5 minutes, using the old-fashioned method of inserting the key several times and determining where to use the hand file. I had a small safe with a digital dial that took forever to open. I sent a picture of the dial and Marv ordered one and replaced it for me. I was ready to buy a new safe but he fixed the old one and saved me about $400! Then my 20 year old slider handle/lock broke. Sure enough, Marv saved the day and was able to replace it. Cool little lock shop. Came in to get a copy of a GM VATS key, they were able to determine the correct key # and cut it within a couple of minutes with a GM branded key, probably genuine. Bob's friend was running the place and was very friendly. They have like, every key blank ever...bunch of locks as well. Looks like they can do immobilizer cloning, too. read more

They had lots of extras it's worth just going in the shop to just look around lots of different gadgets even antiques . Oh my, where do I even start. I lost my truck cap/topper keyand I was heartbroken . I was leaving the area in 2 hours and I needed the key to this within the 2 hours! So I called a bunch of shops via Yelp searching and none of them were as accommodating as Bob's keyand locksmith shop! I called him up right when he opened, told him my situation and he told me to come to the shop in an hour. So I did just that! I was there and he got me a keyby free handing it!! I told him that he certainly is a miracle working. I paid $23 for his service and the keys that he made for me. As I watched him work and make the key, I learned that He's been in this business for 45 years. He is a miracle worker. My keys work and I was able to get out of town within the 2 hours I estimated... All I can say is that if you have any key or lock needs, Bob is the man to go to and I won't go anywhere else, ever again! He was helpful and is a no nonsense type of man. Was very disappointed with Bob's lock and key, specifically Marve! I called about having our safe lock repaired. He said he could do it. Very nice in the beginning and tried all the tricks he knew how to do to try and open it. Got the safe company involved, he needed to drill into the safe, which he said he had the experience to do and took on the job. This was on May 1st. The company sent him the lock and the instructions to do the job. At this point he avoided my calls and would not set up and appointment. I would call from an unknown number and he would answer the first ring. He kept making excuses about how he just didn't have the time to do it. I told him how I was locked in with him because the company sent him the requisition for the job as well as the parts. I was in need of some important documents in my safe for work related travel, which I explained to him on May 18th. He ignored my calls and my messages. I called him from yet a different number on May 27th, and told him he should have never accepted the job if he had no plans on doing it, and set up an appointment for June 2nd. He knew full well that I had to miss a days work for this appointment. So an hour after my appointment time, he still hadn't shown up. I tried calling him, texting him, the whole nine yards, no response. I called the safe company and said they need to figure something else out because this guy was unprofessional and incapable of undertaking the job. They told me to get the lock back from him and they would send out someone else. I told in in several voice mails and text messages that I needed my property to use someone else and that if I could get it that day I had someone able to come do the work. He rudely ignored all my calls and messages, so I sent my husband in to pick it up from his shop! He had the nerve to tell my husband that he didn't come because the company had never sent him the work order. That was a bald face lie! The company sent it to me via email, with the instructions, that I faxed over to him in the beginning of May! and if this was the case, why not just answer the damn phone and tell me this? He had plenty of opportunity to just say he wasn't capable of doing the job. He maliciously set an appointment he had no intention of keeping, costing me over $200 in lost wages, as well as a promotion at my job due to not being able to perform the tasks assigned to me, as well as it is going to cost me another days pay to wait for the new repair company. Very unprofessional, very deceptive, very upsetting to rely on a company that has been around for so long to be treated so shitty! We got locked out of our warehouse the other day. I called around to the other locksmiths in town and none were available that day except Prestige and they wanted waaaaay more than everyone else's rates, $125 for the call and picking the lock but $175 if they had to drill. I thought that was ridiculous! No wonder they were available, who can afford those rates??? I'm glad I didn't end my search there and go with them. I called Bob's and they were available that day plus he had the lowest rates out of everyone. Bob answered himself and within a minute I had my appointment scheduled. He was friendly and sent his guy Marv (I think that's what his name was) to meet me at my warehouse. He had my doors (2) picked, locks rekeyed and installed in about 20 mins. It was only $78 which included making an extra copy of my house key. He also was friendly and didnt mind me watching and asking questions because I find this skill set quite facinating. They will definitely be my go to locksmiths from now on and pretty much any of my key type of needs. I don't mind making the drive over to Marysville to help support a good local business anyday. Don't even bother calling around cause these guys have great customer service and lowest rates in town! read more
