If I could give Bardsley Safe and Lock more than 5 stars I would. I had been struggling with opening my late husband's safe, which held documents that I needed urgently. Through text and phone Mike patiently walked me through the steps to open the safe, providing tips that I did not find on the safe manufacture's website, instructional videos or anywhere else. When we were successful in opening the safe I asked him to send me a bill for his time and expertise but he said he was happy to help and did not ask for any compensation. I went to Yelp to find a safe/locksmith to open a 1982 German curio cabinet. I selected Bardsley Safe and lock, called them and within a few minutes they called back. Appointment was set up and Mike arrived at the time set. Even called earlier to confirm time. He began working on the cabinet that was, according to him, tougher than most safes. It seems (he found reason why) the interior metal of the cabinet lock was "Pot metal" that had deteriorated so bad that it disintegrated when you attempted to open the lock..Now I should mention the cabinet has not been opened in 10-12 Years. After a number of hours and dedication by Mike to not be "out done" he opened the cabinet and joy was felt throughout the home. Finally, the inside curios/statues could be cleaned. Mike Bardsley made a 50 mile "house call" to try to fix my old safe. The safe is probably 80 to 100 years old and there was no way to know who It was made by. The dial wouldn't turn and the handle wouldn't turn. He got it open without drilling and completely disassembled the lock mechanism to clean and service it with a few adjustments. It now works like a dream and I couldn't be happier. Mike is very competent, Informative, and helpful. Price was more than fair. I'm so happy! read more

In the 1990s I was on a rare trip to San Francisco eating dinner in Chinatown. After dinner I saw an antique safe on the street under a pile of restaurant trash. It was a real miracle arranging a friend and a vehicle on short notice, because I live 3 hours away. My friend and I returned to Chinatown over 6 hours later in the middle of the night. The trash had been picked up, but the safe was still there. We managed to wrestle the extremely heavy beast into a van, and it has been a weight in my life ever since. Relatives and friends have been pressuring me to do something with that safe for 2 decades. I was seriously considering having a scrap metal dealer haul it away. Thanks to the internet, I found Mike Bardsley on the SAVTA website. He is the only registered safe technician in our county. When he came over, my expectations were extremely low. Mike opened that safe without drilling in an hour and a half!! I was totally delighted and amazed. And I still am!! He completely serviced the locking mechanism and reset the combination. Now, instead of a weight around my neck, I have a totally cool, completely functional antique safe with history dating back to the San Francisco fire and earthquake of 1906 when every business wanted a fireproof safe to protect their papers and valuables. He's good. I had lost the combination to my safe. It's one of those old heavy antiques that you are just NOT going to take to a shop to have opened. Mike came out to my house and first tried to dial it open. That wasn't working so it was necessary for him to drill it. I kid you not, one tiny hole and 15 minutes later, it was open. Very easy to patch the hole and no damage to the lock at all. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again, except that I don't think I'll be losing that combination again, I now have 3 copies of it. read more
