Just stumbled upon this place on my way to the beach today, and I'm so glad I did! It's a small shop with healthy foods and products, plus a juice/smoothie bar in the back with lots of fun options. I got the Prana Boost smoothie, which had kale, green apple, cucumber, coconut water, pineapple, lemon, maca powder, cilantro, and ginger. I have been coming to this place on and off for years. It used to be amazing! The salads, the wraps and the SPECIALS were to die for! Even if you weren't into health food, you would love it! But so many things have gone downhill. Some of the staff members are friendly and helpful. But a few weeks ago I went in for a smoothie and this young thin Hispanic guy was looking at his phone for 4-5 minutes before even acknowledging me. Totally unacceptable. Then a heavy set (Hispanic) guy took my order. Very young. And forgot to make most of it. As he helped other customers. And ran to the back a few times. LOL. Wow. Every time I've gone in since Bob sold it, at least half of my order is wrong. The staff used to be ON point. Also the quality of the food has gone downhill. Many of the items used are GMO. most of the deli food is no longer orgsnic. And from what I've seen many of the hot items are microwaved. They just don't taste the way they used to. Selling organic food but pairing them with conventional GMO items is defeating the purpose. When they are 100% organic maybe I will return. read more

I have been coming here for years and I usually order the (very green) cell energizer smoothie, but the lovely and caring staff knew the ALKA -TONIC is EXACTLY what I needed today and just WOW, what a difference it made. They carry a lot of products including various teas, vitamins and supplements, frozen and packaged foods. They are very nice and helpful, and it's a good place to ask questions. I love the people there, the ones working and the ones that are clients. It is their good choice of healthy eats that brought me here but everything else also falls in place. Today I had a veggie wrap with avocado. It was a nice portion and I also had some carrot juice. Both were delicious. For home I got myself a cup of pudding and I loved it! It reminds me of home (California that is). When I moved here from LA a year ago I was sad to only see bagels and delis and pizzas. In many parts of LA every corner has organic/natural/vegan cafe with wheat grass and other kelp and kale juices and that was the hardest for me to give up moving here. Long Beach itself is like a little Venice beach and this cafe only makes it even more appealing. I will come back again and again here. The lady at the register said they've been in business for 30 years. I see how much thought and care is invested into the idea of the cafe and the inspirational views that the place supports. I recently moved to Long Beach.The first "eatery" I fell in love with here is Bob's Natural Foods. It's a small local health food store with a lunch counter and juice bar in the back. Every day they have a different selection of soups & stews that were deliciously cooked (overnight in a crock pot) with organic herbs and veggies. My favorite is the Hawaiian rice and beans stew: brown rice, onions, red beans, pineapple and gently warm spices put a big smile on my face. For the days I don't feel like a warm lunch, I order one of their wraps (grilled tofu and avocado rocks) it's stuffed with tamari grilled tofu, soft avocado and the freshest organic veggies - splattered with the unbeatable annie's goddess dressing. They keep an industrial sized bottle behind the counter! Their smoothies make me swoon. The atmosphere is super friendly, and they play a satellite radio station with folk and world music. And if you're having any ailments, ask Bob for advice on what to take - he's the local herbologist. Don't miss this place. read more

Smoothie was very good. The veggie burger not so much. Didn't care for it in a wrap style as it was way too messy to eat in truck. When I got home I threw the other half away - wasn't worth the money! Also, I didn't even see the vegetable burger? Spent 25 for a coffee smoothie and mediocre at best veggie burger. I'll probably come back for a smoothie or organic items - but the food not so much. Too expensive and not satisfied. The vegan coffee was $5.25 - what is this Starbucks for Vegans!?!? Plastic bags are .05 each which the lady told me but let me "slide" - they should have paid me for eating here - lower the prices by .05 and let the bags be free. Prior to the switch to the new owner, Bob's was one of my favorite places to go weekly. The new owner's energy is negative bitter and annoying. I got a smoothie that tastes like water and was terrible, I complained and she wanted to "talk to me about it". Great wraps, but took a while to make them, so do not go if you are in a hurry. There was no one else there before me, and I waited 20 minutes for 3 wraps. [I called to see if I could order over the phone and pick up, and they said they do not do phone orders in the summer because they are too busy.] I had a 1 oz. shot of wheatgrass while I waited, so that calmed me down :) The wraps were jam-packed full of veggies though and were a little messy because they were overflowing.
