My husband has been using the shop for much longer because they are open and available on Saturdays which has been important because my husband needs his car from Monday- Friday. Fast and friendly service. I went there in the morning with a big gash in my tire. They were able to order an emergency replacement and install it by noon on the Friday before a long holiday weekend. The price was very reasonable. I do not understand some of the negative comments on here. My experience was completely the opposite. read more

The male owner was extremely rude to me when I pulled in ( I am a female) as soon as he saw my boyfriend, who pulled in after me, he changed his tune and was respectful and listened to him about what my car needed. I didnt think that much about it but maybe I should have. I sent my 20 year old daughter down for service on her car, the male owner told her to open her hood and when she couldnt find the lever he started screaming at her that it was not his job to help her and walked away. My daughter of course left. The female wife owner seems to try to make up for her husband's rudeness, she is very nice polite and courteous. It's unbelievable in this day and age that a man would treat women this way. Obviously private businesses don't get sexual-harassment training this is unfortunate it should be mandatory for renewal of their licenses and insurances. read more

What a BIZZARE and rude experience I've just had! There are three or four service stations in town. I can't say enough good things about the other three. Recently, I inherited a whole bunch of automotive tools, and so I took a walk to the closest service station, across the street from my church to see if anyone there could use them. I initially thought that perhaps there might be a young mechanic that could. I'm not a car guy. I'm a technology guy. I initially hoped that I could sell some of it, but my main intention was to find it all a better home. I had recently hired a local organization expert who helped me put it together along with lots of bags of clothes too. I had just donated pet supplies. So I thought about going to Bob's because it's the place I always drove by that had the nice dog in front. Initially, the woman that was there, Bob's wife was nice. She explained they didn't need anything and that her husband had just gotten rid of a lot of stuff himself. One of their mechanics said he would stop by. He was REALLY NICE. He wound up coming by AFTER work, and saw how much stuff I had. He bought a few tools for $20 and then was nice enough to call his friends to see if anyone wanted to buy anything. When we determined that no one really needed anything, I asked him about where or who I could DONATE all these automotive tools. We struck up a conversation and my fiancé came home. Hurricanes had just pounded PR and I mentioned to him that I had 6 bags of clothes that I was looking to donate. So he called his wife to see if she knew anyone - because I was looking to have someone picked it up. He asked why. I mentioned that my car wasn't running and I was looking to sell it. So, NATURALLY, him being a mechanic - he asked me about it. THIS GUY WAS SO FORTHRIGHT - that he said he couldn't work on it because it was frowned upon for him to service anyone in town outside of their business, but he could give me advice. Ok - Terrific. I told him that my BMW battery was dead - but I hoped it wasn't the starter. He was KIND enough to offer me a jump start as a GOOD HUMAN BEING. It didn't seem to work. He said it might be better for me to take the battery out of the car and charge it. So, I, not him, removed my battery from the car (after watching a video on YouTube) and gave it to him. I insisted, because he was so paranoid about getting in trouble for helping anyone after hours. I joked that he must be kidding. He said he would come back later to pick up the clothes for donation to Puerto Rico. I guess he was so tired from working all day, not on my car, that he forgot to take the tools he gave me $20 for. So I called his office a few days later to let them know he forgot something. When he came back he told me he GOT IN TROUBLE at work. I FELT HORRIBLE, and I was PERPLEXED. What was he in trouble for??? He said they assumed he had been working on my car, and I guess he brought my battery there to charge. A few days later I, not him, had time and I put the battery back in the car. Lo and behold it wasn't even charged!!! (or I did it wrong) I wasn't sureso I called the shop with the intention of first, CLEARING HIS NAME, and letting them know this guy was not only a GOOD HUMAN BEING, but a LOYAL WORKER, and also to simply ask if the battery he gave me which I installed myself was even charged at all. This guy was SO LOYAL he hadn't even given me his phone number. What I then received on the other end of my phone call has me totally flabbergasted - and I guess it explains the other reviews on here about NASTY experiences when working with this shop. As soon as I called, and asked what the name of the worker was, I was responded to angrily and told that this was his "place of business". I couldn't even get out words to assure them that he didn't WORK on my car. They wouldn't give me a breath to say how good, nice and loyal he was. When asked why I was calling, I explained that I wanted to ask him ONE QUESTION. Again, that was responded to RUDELY. The woman, who I thought was nice in person, said I could leave my number, and I said sure, and a second after I said that - she hung up!!!! So.. I called back.. this time the man, Tom, the owner of the establishment answered and announced himself as such. I said, NICELY, I am trying to understand what happened. He let me get a breath in, and so I started out that I lived in town, that I was looking for a place to fix my car, I had come by the other day because I had inherited out parts, and was now looking to donate them .. AND he CUT ME OFF and YELLED at me that I was a liar and looking to sell them! I can't begin to imagine what sorts of problems they have had in the past that they would just ASSUME the WORST of their worker, or me for that matter. Again, I was hung up on without getting another word in. I called again to ask when I could come in person about this misunderstanding. I'm writing this in advance of that. read more

Look, they're brusque most of the time, but I go there looking for reliable and trustworthy mechanics and that's what I get. We've dealt with incredibly friendly local mechanics who forgot to finish tightening our tire bolts and the wheel came off when we were on the highway. Worth the trip from Manhattan. He is honest and told me what I needed to have done after others recommended more extensive work. His quotes always seem reasonably priced. I have had to leave my car there for repairs so glad the train to Manhattan is down the hill. Glad I found a place I feel confident taking my car. read more

This was my first time bringing my car to Bob's and I will definitely be back! Tom searched high and low to find the part needed for my car in order to save me money. Unfortunately, the only available place to get it ended up being through Audi directly, but I appreciate all of the leg work he put in trying! Once he had the part, the work was done quickly and properly and the labor cost me a fraction of what the dealership would have charged me. Tom and Nancy has always been super accommodating to me! Anytime I've needed an oil change or something minor, no matter how busy, they always were able to fit me in! My husband and I have been dealing with Bob's for over a decade, and have come to rely on Tom and his wife Nancy for all of our repair needs. I don't understand the negative posts, as they have always been accommodating and promptly serviced our cars. The prices are reasonable, and Tom is a master mechanic with all types of vehicles. I work in Hastings on Hudson for 20 years. My office is a block away from this Station. On September 6th, I left my office to walk to my car on Maple Av. All at once it began lightning and thunder terribly. I became frightened, as I am recovering from a brain surgery, and sought shelter at the office of this gas station. I was approached by the owner who was extremely rude and asked me what I was doing. When I responded, I was frightened by the weather and needed shelter, he screamed asking me to get out and find shelter someplace else. I moved a little out of the door checking the sky, when his wife pushed me out from behind and told me they had things to do. Several things came to my mind: * Who treats people like that? * How could these people own a business across from church and be so cruel to others * Perhaps they need a lesson in kindness and humility If I had a choice I wouldn't even rate this station with one star ...They do not deserved read more

I hope this guy is a better mechanic than a business man. He seems to be a bit of a chauvinist since he wouldnt shake my wife's hand, but had no problem shaking the hands of the two guys who came in to pick up their car. But the worst was: when my 5 year old son excitedly started telling him what was wrong with our car, Tom walked away telling us he doesn't deal with kids. When he finally came back, he started yelling at my son who hadn't said a word since Tom had stormed off and was quietly standing by my side. We've been having cars serviced, serious mechanical work done, and gotten gas at Bob's for more than 12 years. Tom. Nancy, Sal and pretty much everyone there has given us courteous, efficient, and fairly priced service. Tom and his mechanics are always straight forward and let us know whether we really need work done, or if there are other alternatives. We have friends from Manhattan and Rockland County who come here to have work done. That's how good they are. read more
