I have been taking my cars to Charlie for repair for 15 years. Charlie and Alex run the most honest repair shop in existence. Recently, out of convenience, I took my rx 350 to a dealership for routine servicing. I asked the dealership to look into some rattling (which sounded like a loose muffler pipe)... Long story short... The dealer came back with a myriad of "issues" for repair to the tune of $3,500, which included two new tires (more about that later), a new muffler, and an $800 price tag for two shocks. Shocks?!!.. I was shocked alright. After the smelling salts, I took the car and the invoice to Charlie for his input. Long story short... Rear shocks a much more reasonable price (about 1/4 of what the dealer quoted) , muffler had small opening at a seal, which Charlie said took two minutes to reseal, no replacement needed, no charge... That's right $000. As for the tires... Here is the reason why I trust this man... The tires on this car were purchased at Costco... They are exclusively sold there... Now remember, the dealership wanted to sell me two tires... Charlie explained he could not match the existing tires as they are exclusive to Costco (which means the dealership couldn't match them either). What Charlie explained was that mixing the make and model of tires on a vehicle, especially on awd vehicles, can result in malfunctions because the car's computer senses it is off balance. He explained I had two options...purchase four new tires... which he explained was overkill, but in the event of needing a replacement, the tires would be easier to purchase from any vendor. Or, go to Costco and get two new tires. I opted for door number two. Charlie always explains your options, his recommendations, and his reasoning. You make the decision for the products and services you want with a full understanding of the cost /benefit tradeoff. It is very empowering to be given full facts about your car repair options.... How rare is that, understand your auto repair options.... Even rarer... BEING INFORMED YOU HAVE OPTIONS (rather than blindly paying for repairs you are told you need). I always always always recommend this shop to everyone I know. I just got my car back from my mechanic of 20 years after a routine tuneup, and out of curiosity, I searched for his standing on Yelp. I couldn't believe he wasn't listed so I am adding him so others in the neighborhood can benefit from his exemplary business! I have to let you know, that my mechanic Charlie was recommended to me by an old friend when I moved to the neighborhood, and he told me that when you go to Charlie, you will go nowhere else. Well that is exactly what happened. Nobody touches my car except Charlie and his team. I have sent dozens of friends to Charlie down through the years, and they all rave about him and all use him to this day. My boyfriend and I were on a weekend long trip to New York City when we heard some grinding noises coming from the back tire. With a 6 hour trip ahead of us back to buffalo we decided to get it looked at. I saw how great the reviews were for this place and with good reason. We explained the problem and with just one look at the car the wonderful gentleman at the shop have us a diagnoses. We informed him we needed to leave that evening and he said "no problem I'll have it back to you in a couple of hours". In the meantime we walked to a nice little Irish pub called Rory dolans with our little pup, sat on the patio had a great meal and before we knew it the car was ready. We got 4 new tired from Mavis Yonkers (across the cross county mall) the day snow was announced. 1 month later, the car was making a strange noise on the highway. We passed by Charlie just to make sure that nothing serious was wrong and Charlie identified in a 2 minute ride that there was a serious problem. One of the wheels was loose he said.... And indeed .... Not just loose.... So loose that he could take the screws off with his hands!!! Walking around the car, we noticed that each wheel was missing one screw! And that the wiring was messed up. We could have been killed! Charlie repaired the car right away. 2 lessons learned - Avoid Mavis Yonkers - Charlie is great! read more

In 2017 we were referred to McLean Auto Repair. We spent 2 years looking for a repair shop that we could feel comfortable with working on our cars, one of which is a classic. We could not find a shop that we were completely satisfied with or that would work on classic cars. We met Charlie (the owner). He was a godsend.
