My first uber ride ever was done here in Ottawa, Canada. I had arrived here knowing that they…read morearen't allowed to do airport pick ups, so I intentionally had to walk 2km to the Hilton Garden Inn hotel to request the ride. True story. I had downloaded the app many months ago but held off trying uber until this trip. After trying to put in the credit card information in the app, I found out to be very very easy to use. I found the app to be very useful and very streamlined to the point where I just have to pick my location and let the driver know that I'm there. Uber and it's competition Lyft, is changing the way we do taxi services in the US and Canada. Although there are many assists is where politicians and government it do not like these companies from operating because of taxi lobbies against Uber, Lyft, and other ride share companies, I am glad that someone got the idea to come up with the idea for ridesharing services. It's a pretty cool idea and I like it very much. The overall experience of my first ride was very cool and I recommend it to anyone who needs ridesharing services. Taxis are just overpriced. I had some first time nerves using the app for the first time, I feel very much at ease now that I have an alternate way of getting around if I need it. Once I put on the pin and knew exactly where I wanted the driver to be I felt confident in my decision. However when the driver started to say that he was here (and i didn't see him) I kind of panicked. I quickly messaged him and everything was OK and I got to ride my first Uber. It was great. It was almost like catching a ride with a friend, but you'd pay less a lot less when you compare it to taxi services for sure. I guess that's why Uber and Lyft were created - to give more people choices rather than renting cars and taxis. My Uber driver was very friendly and we made small talk along the way. It was nice for him to guide me through the process of my first time using uber. Once the ride was done, he finished the ride and I got to rate him - out of 5 stars. There is no actual money that changed hands, although you could actually tip the driver in currency, if you decide on doing that too. Regardless of how I initially thought uber was and heard about in the news media, it's a great service - at least in the eyes of passengers. I'm not sure about being a driver, but that's not what this review is about. This uber driver's car was nice and maintained. I sat in the front seat and we had GPS to guide me to my final destination. It felt really nice not having to pay a lot for a taxi, which uber and Lyft is a fraction of what the taxi will charge you. It's crazy how taxi cabs can get away with. Kind of a rip off - at least with the tourists. My ride with uber costed $22 CAD compared to $42 with a taxi. My destination was in Gatineau, which I learned that neither Lyft nor Uber doesn't go, since it's in Quebec. So I had to get a taxi to go back to the airport to pick up my rental car. Ugh, that's harsh, but what can you do?! 5 stars for Uber! It's the great alternative to taxi cabs for sure. Support local! A++

Uber directed the driver to drive past me, go 6 blocks the wrong way in rush hour traffic and then turn around to come get me. It was 20 minutes before the driver picked me up. I was livid. The driver told me that Uber requires him to follow weird convoluted routes sometimes and if he doesn't do it, they send him nasty emails. I complained to Uber about their routing and requested a refund for the $8 for the fast pickup. Uber customer service said the pricing was correct, tried to tell me that I should give the driver a poor review, did not take responsibility for their role, and told me my issue was resolved. I've used Uber for awhile and this the first time something like this has happened. I'm unimpressed with how they dealt with and will reconsider using Uber in the future.

Today my ride was hell with cab #27 from Regal taxi in Hull. This driver disrespected both myself and my friend within the first 10 seconds of meeting him. He mumbled in French under his breath about us not speaking French and when I spoke he complained it wasn't good enough for him. This driver couldn't understand me saying the Crown plaza hotel on Montcalm in Hull. My French seems to be good everywhere else but with him. This driver was horrible from beginning to end. I reminded him that Canada is a bilingual country and he got mad! This guy sped the entire 15 min drive, like a crazy mad man! He gunned for the light and although it was RED he went through it without due care and attention. He had ample time to stop as it was red already. All other vehicles were stopped. When I pointed it out, he snickered and told me to speak French because I am in Quebec. I told him to slow down and he snickered again. Despite one very "rotten apple" in their taxi service, for them as a whole, are great. Always use them, just not taxi #27.

The cars are filthy and have a gross odour and the seats are even worse. The taxi drivers themselves are not friendly and make the ride very uncomfortable.

It's…read morecheaper, and if there is something wrong with the service it will be fixed as drivers care about their ratings and Uber takes responsibility. Blue Line is deceitful, incompetent, and outright disrespectful. I took a taxi from the airport to my hotel. I had a lot of luggage and was holding onto my backpack in the back seat, and the driver suggested that I put it in the front seat to give myself more space, which was nice. Note that I have no visibility of my bag now that's in the front seat as I'm in the back. Arrive at my hotel, pay the driver CAD 80 for a CAD 63 ride (a 27% tip) and grab all my luggage. After checking in, I realise my backpack is still in the cab. It's 530pm at this point. I call the taxi company. They try to find the driver / my bag. No success. Keep in mind the bag is in the front seat. It is highly unlikely that the driver hadn't noticed it by the time his shift was over. Takes 3 days for my bag to show up at the lost and found. I ask that the resolve this issue by sending the bag back to me, and they said can only send it back at my own cost - or I can go pick it up myself. Also, that I can't pick up from their office as it's closed the next two days (weekend). On Monday I call them again and ask to speak to a supervisor. Supervisor says the same thing, I have to pay a driver to take the bag to me or pick up the bag myself. Begrudgingly I ask them to send it back to me at my own expense, but to send it at 9pm as I'm not at the hotel. They tell me they have to send it back during office hours (???), even though I'm paying for it myself. We agree to have a car pick up my bag and drop it off at 5pm at my hotel. It doesn't get delivered. When I return to the hotel I call the service centre for an update at 11:15pm. They said they can deliver it to me in 10 mins (so they lied that they can't deliver outside of office hours). At 12 midnight (~45 mins later) I get my bag back, costing me CAD 60.86. Driver even has the nerve to ask for a 15% tip. After this ordeal, both the driver and company have had zero consequences while I've spent hours experiencing incompetence and a company with zero accountability that simply doesn't care about its customers.
