Do not call this company I lost my phone in this cab the driver would not answer the phone until I called his dispatch and reported the phone lost I then tried to call my phone to which he answered provided me excuse upon excuse as to why he could not return my phone right away and told me he would return my phone to his office on Monday and I can pick it up there. I had to offer him $100 reward to get him to come over right away and when I did receive my phone back there was over 200 attempts of somebody trying to get into my phone from my pattern code never take this cab company never call them ​ read more

I booked a taxi for 8:15am the next morning, and let Anna know that we had a train to catch. At 8:20am I called and was told it would be there in the next 10 minutes. I called again at 8:30am ( I was upset ). At 8:35am a Blue Line taxi arrived, and managed to get to the train on time. During the trip, the driver told us that West-Way only does para trips in the Barrhaven area. I will NEVER call West-Way again. Terrible service. I booked a van to the airport on November 13 for pick up on Friday November 15 at 330 AM,as I had 3 suitcases and 2 adults.   On Nov 15, I called at 335 AM to check if the van is on its way.   Response from Riccardo was Dispatch is working on it.  Should be there in 20 minutes.  No van so far. I call at 350 AM, told the same thing, dispatch working on it as the fare hasn't been picked up.  I asked what does that mean.  Dispatch is working in it.   As I am upset and wanted to be at the airport for 400 AM to catch a flight, I ask to speak to Dispatch.  The lady (Monae?) puts me on hold and then tells me there is no van coming! I am speechless...i asked to send a taxi asap and I will make sure all my luggage will fit one way or another. When was someone going to let me know between Nov 13 and Nov 15 that I was not getting a ride to the airport.   This is totally unacceptable and poor business ethic for Westway.   I have always booked with you for many years,  but never again. read more

My friend is in the hospital at the civic and I have to use the Taxi Stand (Westway) to get home. Drivers don't pay attention. I'm standing out there for 5 minutes looking like an idiot trying to grab a driver's attention. Once they do notice me I find they're on the phone with someone or playing a game. I get it. You're stuck parked there for God knows how long waiting for a decent fare but would it kill you guys to look up every now and then? Every minute I spend trying to get your attention is that much less of a tip I'll be giving. Then he goes back on his phone talking to whomever it is... eugh. read more

Saw cab 399 drop-off two elderly women at Carlingwood tonight. Both had to struggle to get a walker out of the trunk, while the driver remained in the vehicle. One star and I'm being extremely generous. How dare you charge a senior who's glasses fell out of his jacket and offer to bring them back to his home after you tell him there wont be a charge? Your driver had the meter running , went to the wrong address and still charge my father $28 to get his glasses back when the price should have been about 10 or free is what the office told him after he inquired about them. read more

I called 30 mins in advance to book a cab for 5:30 as I needed to get to the airport. No can arrived at 5:30. I called at 5:35 to inquire and they had not yet dispatched a cab! I have used West-Way Taxi for about 30 years - mostly in the past for trips to and from the airport at the strangest of hours and they have always been great! Today, I needed them for the shortest of trips - and they were just as good. I am sure the taxi business is struggle, after uber onslaught and now the pandemic. I came across a large cupboard someone was throwing out and I didn't know how to get it home. It was 43" across, 2' deep and 6' tall. It was solid and heavy. I called West-Way and told the dispatcher of my dilemma. She said she could send a passenger van but it was up to the driver whether he wanted the fare. Two drivers came and refused to take me. One said his van was new. I called again and she said she would send another driver but he would be the last one. The third guy looked at me and said I' m not going to leave you on the street with that thing. In spite of having a bad back he helped me get it home and I will be eternally grateful. I also appreciate the dispatcher's forebearance. I suspect if I had been dealing with another taxi company that cupboard would not be in my home. read more

With all the changes in how we get from A to B today... I have gone full circle...you get what you pay for. I am sitting in front of my 6pm news and the lead story right after Hurricane Dorian is about LYFT sexual lawsuits and the sex offenders are still out there driving us around. I recently ( 4 nights ago ) had to call a ride for a 3:30am airport pickup. I called West-way Taxi because I knew my driver was registered, licensed and qualified. In the dead of the night, he showed up on time, assisted with my bags, and was beyond polite. I sat in the back seat and there in front of my face was all his information. I felt safe and arrived on time for pretty much the exact same price. My Uber and Lyft days are over, I want service I can trust. Think about it, most riders are calling for help when it is in the middle of the night or they are intoxicated and good for them because they do not want to drive drunk - THINK ABOUT WHO YOU HIRE....my vote will always be my local taxi and when in Ottawa - i will only call Westway taxi !!!! read more

Picked up in Stittsville on time with the correct type of vehicle (had big luggage) in the middle of the night: driver was courteous, suggested and took the optimal shortest route even knew the local road shortcuts at both ends of the route. read more

I booked a van to the airport for 3:45am, waited in the lobby until 3:55 then called, didn't even have a record of my booking made two days before and verified one day before. While the cab drivers will get you from point A to point B, they are not nice people. I left my cell phone in one of their cabs. After texting the phone and the driver getting back to me that he did have the phone, I told him that I would come pick it up. He offered to drop it off for $30 at my apartment. I thought that this was fair and agreed. When he arrived, he demanded $60 and said that I had to pay or he would not give the phone back. When I reminded him he said $30 before, he said that he could sell it for way more on ebay and that I had to pay the $60. This makes me wary that the cab drivers for this company will do anything for a buck. I wouldn't trust them to take the cheapest route or to not overcharge for a ride. read more

Extremely rude and poor drivers, as well obnoxious management and administration. One of them hit and damaged my parked car (my neighbour saw), got out of his cab, looked at it, said "it doesn't matter because it was damaged before" (it wasn't), and drove off. Even worse, there was a passenger in the cab at the time he hit our car (said passenger took down the cab number - 4036). On calling the company about it the manager was extremely rude and refused to help or pay for the damage. We were basically told to "deal with it." He then hung up on me. A cab company whose drivers hit-and-run - and whose management condones it - cannot be even remotely trusted. They clearly have a total disregard for the law, the property of others, and the safety of their passengers. Avoid. read more

I called a cab from westway a few days ago and after 20 minutes waiting, I called back asking whereabouts the car is and what the taxi number is. The lady on the other line told me that "driver will be there any minute" and the call got disconnected. I wasn't sure if it was by accident so I called back asking weather she hung up or not and she replied "YES". So westway customer service DO hung up on customers.. fyi, her name is Annie and turned out that she is well-known for being rude to both customers and drivers. read more

Kind of sad in a way, my brother had been through a long and hard tough time and I wanted to treat him and reward him on his birthday, September 28th, paying $340 for our Elton John tickets at the CTC with an 8pm start. Called West-Way at 7:07pm for the 10 min trip from Eagleson Rd to CTC. Nothing happened. I called twice for updates stating the start time of the concert, and they just said they were assigning a car but no car ever came. At 8:25 (yes, 25 mins after the concert started and 1h18m after I requested the taxi, I finally woke up and called Blue Line, he arrived in 7 mins - with, thank god, some really, really good music playing - and he did a good job to get us there only 40 mins late.) West-Way is truly a horrible service provider to be avoided, I mean it. Rather than being honest and directing us elsewhere because they couldn't deliver, they left me hanging and they knew what was at stake. I hope the two dispatchers I talked to read this, I hope you feel shame and realize you owe me $66 for our missing 40 mins of what was a great concert! Lol. Pathetic service. read more

I always find the West-way drivers personable an polite. I abhor the telephone answering service. They speak too quickly and have a hard edge on their voice, as though I am interrupting something more important. I am too old to move to tech-taxi ordering and I prefer to phone but the people on the line could do with some social skills training. read more

We phoned West way prior to going out for the evening to ensure that they could drive us from Richmond to Kemptville at the end of the night. The girl who I spoke with confirmed that they could and gave a quote of $60 from Richmond to Kemptville. So my husband and I went to a Halloween party at a Legion Hall in a remote area and decided that we both could drink since we could get a cab to take us home. When we phoned to be picked up, the lady told us that they wouldn't pick us up as it was out of their range. I told her about the phone call earlier in the evening and she still refused and told us to get a hotel or something. When I told her that we were in the middle of nowhere and completely stranded, she hung up on me. West way left us completely stranded & desperate on a freezing cold snowy night in the middle of nowhere. It was so horrible and I can't believe they did that to us! read more

Tonight when trying to leave a social gathering with frends I saw a long line of taxis waiting for me. When I got in the cab, I told the driver that I would need to stop for take out on the way home. Upon arriving at the fast food restaurant with a very small line the cab driver belittled me and told me that it was not worth his time to wait for my food, despite the fact that i would pay for this time, he refused to wait. I have never had a problem with another taxi company over this. He was completely unwilling to cater to my needs as a customer. If i were the manager of this company I would be ashamed that this was the way customers were treated. read more

I take west way taxi twice a day at set times. For about a month I didn't have any problems until the company showed it's true color. All of the dispatch are rude accept for the female dispatchers for some reason. For awhile they have always been late about thirty minutes after 6am. At the beginning they showed on time not any more I have no idea why. I have been waiting consistently an extra 15 to 30 minutes. Today west way treated me horribly, I called in and set my pickup time hours ahead for 6:00 am pickup. They didn't show at that time so I called back twice over thirty minutes and they kept saying wait 10 minutes more and by the time I called at 6:45 they said they have no cab because of storm and people are backed up for hours. This is nonsense because I booked cab hours ahead, I am a loyal customer that uses west way service twice a day and when things get a little hard they abandon me? why? By this time it's too late to call blue line because they would have the same problem. The fact that I am such a loyal customer and west way is so easily ready to abandon me is what is so horrible. I had to walk 30 minutes in the snow in a full suit and tie not dressed at all for the weather. Because I thought I would have a cab. Thanks a lot west way.... read more

mostly nice service, but lately I got horrible experience. It was taxi # 1077. The most dirtiest taxi ever in North America, the driver was very dirty and constantly talking. He was unnecessarily raising non-relevant questions, since when did I come in Canada, what I do, whats my qualification, he asked several questions on destination point, he told about his qualification and knowledge. I don't want to be rude but he must be told the lesson to first clean his Taxi, be courteous, don't talk or interfere even I am calling or texting someone. Thank you read more

I pre-ordered a taxi for 1:45 on a Sunday afternoon about 2 hours ahead of time. About 15 minutes prior to pick-up time a text was received advising that a Taxi had been assigned and would be arriving shortly. Taxi was on time. The driver of the Taxi (#1102) was very friendly. Was visiting Ottawa for a few days. The reviews for this taxi company looked better than the others - was I wrong. Firstly, the dispatcher seemed not to be familiar with major sites in Ottawa (e..g, Museum of Nature). Secondly, arriving in "5-8 minutes" really translates to 40+ minutes, with no apology for being late. Thirdly, one of the taxis was in the most disgusting state I have ever seen - filthy, dirty, stained, smelly. How is that allowed?! I live in Toronto and thought that Toronto taxis were bad. They are immaculate compared to the horror of that West-Way taxi. read more
