    Little dog agility fun
    Kathleen L.

Beautiful park in unincorporated Seminole. We have driven past the entrance 100s of times but decided to drive in and check it out. The road is curvy, fun to drive and lots of greenery on each side. The area is very clean and well-maintained. We found the dual-sided dog park (small dog size, large dog size). Our dog was with us so how could we deprive him of a visit. One other dog, Marble, was there playing ball with his owner. This was Diesel's first dog park visit in Florida (we live next to a walking park where he gets his daily strolls). There was some grass but mostly sandy soil and it was funny to see him experience the sand. He was a bit apprehensive and stayed close to us but was excited to be off leash. Ever notice how your dog's eggs look feral when he is exploring new things? It was a good time, Diesel met Marble and we all had fun. Next time we'll introduce him to the agility section and see how that goes.

I have visited Boca Ciega Millennium Park twice now. If you follow me on Yelp, you probably know that I rarely encounter a park that I do not love. Boca Ciega was a great find. It has the three features that are a must for me: water, tall trees, and boardwalks. My favorite part of this park is the beautiful boardwalk that leads to a lookout tower along the water inlet. The view is incredible from the tower. The trails and boardwalks are mostly interwoven through the woods or mangroves, so there is a decent amount of shade. I have enjoyed the trails that are off boardwalk here too. There is a walking/ running trail towards the entrance of the park. It honestly is not that long though. I circled the boardwalk twice and walked from almost the end to the entrance of the park on this last visit and was only a little over 8,000 steps (a little over 3 miles). The park is a decent size, but I would honestly go elsewhere for running or putting in some miles. The trail towards the entrance passes a beautiful lake. I have seen an alligator sunbathing here. There is another small lake on the other side of the road too. There are several beautiful Southern Magnolia trees, flowers, vines, and an American Flag towards the front. The park also has plenty of picnic shelters, bathrooms, water fountains, a dog park, and a nice playground area for the kids. The bathrooms were clean on my visits. I will give a warning about Boca Ciega: bring bug spray! I rarely use bug spray and the bugs normally leave me alone. For some reason, they do not at this park. I have been stalked by a horse fly in particular twice at this park. They are persistent and relentless. The first time I was off trail in the woods...my fault. The second visit I did not deviate from the trails at all. So, they are certainly an issue. I also had some irritation around my ankles and several bumps after this second trip. Overall, I think that Boca Ciega is a nice park. It is beautiful and tranquil. However, I will make sure I bring bug spray on my next visit.

Beautiful observation tower and trails, parking is free, amazing playground if you have little ones. I think there's a dog park too since we heard lots of dogs.

Love this park, great for nature walks with my dog, quiet, well kept, and very beautiful. If you visit make sure you find the hidden boardwalk for an incredible photo opp

The playground's broken slides (as of 6/21)

This park offers everything! Water, birds, fishing, pavilions (3), and a wonderful playground that (when the slides aren't broke) offers everything! One-of-a-kind equipment. The orb this place has is cool, and the up/down design of the main playground is unique.

My friend drove me through this park today and I was impressed. We went to Paws Park where there is a dog run..waaay bigger than the little one on Duboce park back in S.F.!! This actually had at least a half acre to run on, fenced-in, water taps, fire hydrants and a little obstacle course. It also had benched for the owners to sit down on. There's a double fence as well so one's pets won't stray far..(there's signs on the other side of the road where the wetlands lie with gator warnings so it's probably a good thing to keep an eye on your canine friend!). I want to come back and explore the nature trails and the observation tower which looks out over Boca Ciega Bay. Parts of the park reminded me of Golden Gate Park except there was only a handful of people there. Park closes at 7:30 each night.

Useless to come here for kayak launch.

Nice park if you want to ride your bike... Walk the boardwalk... Jog or have a picnic. I went for the kayak launch which should go partway thru park to the Intercoastal... To pineapple island. The kayak launch and trail could be great but is impassable and seriously overgrown by mangroves and Brazilian pepper. Invasive and not a native Fl tree. The Pinellas Co parks needs to run a backhoe thru the kayak canoe run to clear and hack back the impenetrable mangroves... And dig up the low spots. One man 2 days. But I suspect never happens. Shame... Would be a great kayak or sup launch site. I remember in my youth 4 wheeling and riding dirt bikes back here before they built the park. Must of spent a million on boardwalks and observation tower... Roads and parking another million ez. Kayak launch and trail I estimate 2 percent cost. Silly not to make it useable. Photos posted and taken Jan 2018.

Great place to go for a BBQ or walk. Not much access to the intercoastal and really not many walking trails. Decent lookout tower. Good bird watching

We like it because it's more scenic than some other paved trails. It's also quite long, so you can choose how far you want to go. The first time we kept going alongside I-4 in Lake Mary, but the second time, we turned and went over I-4 (yes, OVER) and then continued down the trail that way before heading back. Coming from Winter Garden, the San Sebastian Trailhead is the closest jumping on point, and it's also near the beginning of the Trail. The trail does extend a couple of miles further across 436 and down by the Costco, but it seems too busy and trafficky that way. My GPS didn't take me to the correct spot for the trailhead, though, so be careful of that. The road to the trailhead is next to the left of the Rooms-to-Go parking lot with only a tiny sign indicating it. If you turn into a neighborhood (like my GPS suggested), you can't get to the trailhead from there. I love to see the art work painted on the backs of wooden fences as I bike down the trail. Someone has done of excellent job of making boring fences look exciting. There's also a decent amount of shade throughout the trail, and I love how they've built two tunnels under major intersections for bikes to safely cross.

However, West Orange is like the bike version of I4. Super crowded and you really have to pay attention. I guess the bike trail just mirrors Orange county traffic in general. So over to Seminole county, and it's more relaxed and less busy but no less the fun! We biked on a day where the high was 75. But in the sun it was quite warm. Make sure to wear sunscreen especially on your upper legs. I totally got burned. We began the bike trail in Lake Mary as it runs behind my boyfriend's neighborhood. We biked to Altamonte and then turned back around. We turned it into a mini "food bike crawl" stopping for lunch at Don Julio and snacks at 7 11 and Panera. A wonderful workout and activity to do with friends and for all ages. I can't wait to do the bike trail again soon!

I've been here twice or three times, since they shoot their fireworks in this water. They are quite nice. This park has many nice open space areas for recreation including a splash pad and baseball diamond. They hold festivals here and most recently their Merry Market Christmas fest which I also went to last year. It's a good space for vendors and food trucks and entertainment to gather. Parking is right beside the park and if it's a big event, it can be a challenge to find parking. It's nice they have this space. I do love Madeira Beach, & this festival and fireworks is great.
