This is a great place to spend a few hours!! The butterflies, birds, and gardens are so,well,taken care of! So much education about butterflies , the aviary section was so neat! The larakeet feeding was very cool The indoor spider exhibit was fascinating! My 16 month old granddaughter was in awe over the butterflies, birds and just really was enjoying walking around! I look forward to returning to see more through her eyes and to allow her to experience it when she is a bit older!! They also have a wide variety of plants (some available at their garden center!). It's inside Trade Winds park which can have a fee to enter on the weekends, but tell them you're there for Butterfly World and it's free to enter the property. Butterfly World is not free tho. Great experience visiting today as part of a large group. There were lots of butterflies for us to see immediately upon entering the park. So many different ones. The only disappointing thing was that I bought the food to feed the birds for my group as soon as I walked in without assessing the situation and we were basically force feeding the birds. They were so full but he kept selling more food. We didn't get the photos with all the birds wanting that little bit of food. Butterfly world is cute, but overpriced . They offer a few enclosed areas of butterflies, one enclosed area with birds and a few windows showing the cycle of a butterflies life. It does not justify the cost. We've purchased a year pass and have managed to make use of it, but if visiting from out of town would feel it's a state price to pay for the attraction that you get. It is fully enclosed however the roof is permeable so you cannot visit during rain and butterfly. World completely shuts down if there's lightning in the area. I'm glad we got our pass for this year, my toddler enjoyed it. But with so many butterfly gardens available in South Florida as part of the local city parks, it feels difficult to justify the high cost as a side from the area where you can feed the birds and the butterflies there is not much to do except for shop at the garden center or the gift shop. If you are a butterfly lover, I do suggest visiting the gift shop, though! They have a café where you can purchase basic drink drinks - but again it would be nice if it was a place where you could actually sit and have lunch as it is such a charming area where they don't make full use of the premises. read more

This has been on our bucketlist for a while and we are so glad we made it just in time before a large storm. When we arrived they had already closed off the sanctuary due to lightning warnings but did tell us they may open back up in a hour or so. We decided to risk it and went to the butterfly and bug museums first. Really cool and interesting history and amazing butterflies! If you are interested in bugs they have a lot of interesting ones that is for sure! Luckily as soon as we finished with the museum, they opened back up the butterfly sanctuary. We went right in and saw so much butterfly activity. It was a shock at first with just how many butterflies there were. Absolutely beautiful sanctuary and such stunning butterflies. I absolutely love this place! It was accessible which was really important. I found it both educational and very serene. I went in November for my Dad's 85 Birthday & he loved it too! I think is a great activity for all ages and there is a great gift shop for people who love butterflies. I love spending time at Butterfly World. The annual pass is about $70 and it allows free entry for 12 months. Since butterflies don't live that long (2-4 weeks) it's always good to visit and see what's new...yes, many of the same species are being reproduced in here, but many times I get to see a new kind, a new color, a new size of butterfly. They are closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day, otherwise they are open all year round. You never know....on one of your visits, you might have a butterfly lay on your shoulder or shirt. Check it out if you have some time. read more

This place is so beautiful and romantic and perfect for all ages. We were greeted by Jenny- who showed us the map and showed us and explained to us how this went. Because most of it was outside but there were some areas inside as well, she showed us where the cafe was as I got there starving. I had googled this place and was very hopeful that I would enjoy it and we are sooooo glad we went. It was such a great time at such a reasonable price. We were there a few hours and I feel like we could've stayed longer- there's that much to see. My favorite part of course was all the beautiful butterflies. they were amazing I had never seen so many in my life. The colors and different sizes and shapes it was so magical, these creatures are just so beautiful. Also great photo ops everywhere in that area. There are also benches to relax and hang out, a water fall for great pictures. And that's just one room. There were several rooms of tons of other things. For example they had a bird room where you pay I believe 2.00 for some type of liquid and the birds flocked over to you and drank the liquid this was pretty cool- but can be scary for some as they do flock over to you immediately. A bird did land on my friends head. So beware of this if you are scared of birds. They have a big museum. They have a cafe, a gift shop, they also have like an area to see these beautiful plants which I've never seen before which as pretty cool. They had a small area where you saw parrots and little ducklings and there randomly was an iguana walking around this was so cool. There was so much to do- and so much to see. We paced ourselves as to take in everything. They are extremely serious about not touching the butterflies or trying to take any- you will indeed go to jail they warn you and they have signs everywhere. I am so glad they're protecting the butterflies. They also offer passes to come here all summer- and they also have passes that include this place and a few other places. This place is built like a dream but it's wildly overpriced and the employees are the pits. They are rude and miserable. We come ALLLL the time and it's the same thing every single time. There hasn't been one time were they are ALL just nice. I have several mom friends who frequent here and say the same thing. Today my almost 3 year old rounded a corner and I was RIGHT behind her and the employee ( Geo a female ) that sweeps the strollers etc etc says.... "If you can't see her she went too far...." I'd appreciate if your staff addressed parents respectfully instead of assuming negligence. Every time I come here I get anxiety thinking I'm going to have to bite my tongue and refrain from a verbal confrontation. It's so wild considering it's butterfly world not the freaking Taj Mahal. A friend of mines kid grabbed the wind chimes and tangled them BY MISTAKE cuz he's only 3 but WHYYYY on gods green earth are they literally that low?!? Love love butterfly world, walking in you see the beautiful flowers with vibrant colors. The ladies at the front are always nice and informative with giving you a map. It's about my 4th time going, it's so fun seeing the butterfly's so happy and seeing so many. In the next room it's plants and flowers with facts could be watered a bit more but I never had a green thumb to be talking lol. Next is bugs which is inside so beautiful how they have them lined up and displayed as art. They even have some in cages that are alive so cool to see what they have. Butterfly world has a dedicated section for the butterflies, several enclosures, for the birds, a museum with live bugs, a section where you can buy plants. The museum store was good too. The place was pleasant with a nice music running in the background. You can feed honey to the birds by paying a couple of bucks. There was plenty of parking. You have to go through tradewinds park. There was an entry fee of $1.5 per person. There is also a Butterfly world in Key West, but this is bigger. read more

I was born and raised in South Florida but I actually never been to Butterfly World. I came because I was chaperoning my son's school field trip to Butterfly World. And I must say this place is cool. From the butterflies themselves to the staff, and everyone and animals in between. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the animals and was very caring with the kids in our group. She gave every kid and Adult an opportunity to feel and touch the butterflies that she was handling. The bug museum was cool as well. I gotta say this part, the encasement with all the cockroaches was a little jarring. Because why would you need to have all those roaches in a case like that. But that's just my two cents on that. But for the kids the whole experience was amazing for them even the playground was awesome for them. read more

The number butterflies may be thousands in the area. It make you walk into butterflies wonderland. I like the blue color butterflies. The center not only have butterflies, they also keep number specific of parrots and other birds. It also includes the Chinese butter quail. They are roaming free at the floor. Again kid love it. Because they can feed the parrots. Our visit only take 2.5 hours. Tickets is on the high side but to have many butterflies, the is a good reproduction program. They also has some big world including worm, spider, other bugs. Tips Call them ahead is the sun is sunny not rain. This will effect the butterflies performance. If the was rain before, less butterflies flying. The excitement of the butterflies also less active when you have a cloudy day. read more

Butterfly World was a beautiful dream! Imagine numerous butterflies flying freely all around you in a nice botanical garden. I took my class on a field trip there and they had a blast! Our tour guide Mr. Sunshine was wonderful and the students loved him. They have a nice playground for kids and eating pavilions outside the park if you decide to pack a lunch. Soooo many butterflies who are NOT shy so do be careful as you walk through. And there are other animals like birds and other insects, not just butterflies! Here are some of my favorite highlights from Butterfly World: -- Seeing a butterfly eat from a flower up close -- Got to pet my favorite plant the Mimosa (in the Philippines it's called the Makahiya Plant because they get "shy" and "cower" when you touch them) -- Fed such really pretty birds (but they can bite so be careful! one of them jumped on my phone and kept nibbling my phone case haha) -- Went down the large bridge TWICE... and it moves so much! Don't go on if you're scared of moving bridges... -- Love the mini museum halfway through. Great break for air conditioning! -- My bestie gifted me a Mimosa plant as an earlier Christmas gift, so yes, you can buy plants at the gift shop! All-in-all, it's a great place to visit at least once, perhaps to take friends or family from out of town who haven't been.
