My wife and I walked around looking at all the beautiful plants and trees for several hours. They also have a few water falls as well. They have paved walkways and you can bring your dogs along for the walk. They do have trails you can venture off through the plants and trees that leads back to the paved paths. We loved it! On the grounds they have tennis courts, basketball courts and a nice playground for kids. If you are ever in the area you MUST stop by this park! We definitely recommend it!

The paved walking path winds around the grounds filled with shade trees, flowering plants, small water falls and plenty of benches. It also houses a few pavilions and restrooms. Out front is the office and a city tennis/pickleball court, children's playground and basketball court. It is also dog friendly and acts as an afternoon child care center. The walk through the arboretum was delightful. I was surprised to see it is open until 9pm. Parking was in a private lot and there was no fee to visit the arboretum. I will return to this peaceful place and enjoy its good energy.

The nature walks are short too. And it's very accessible. Even a ramp all the way up to the look out point so people in wheel chairs can view too. It's shaded from all the mangroves and palms. And the tree that it's named after gumbo limbo! Which is a red tree that peels We attended the free 10:00 am tour which lasted an hour. It was mostly the tour guide talking who is a volunteer and very nice. Very enthusiastic. It was a little drawn out and we stoped every 10 steps but worth it. I took the stopping moments to take everything in and even spotted huge spiders. I forgot what they are called but there are the biggest ones I have seen and they are all over. He said they can bite but it's like a bee sting and not poisonous. And they stay off the path anyway. There are huge tanks of really big fish. The barracuda is huge and has the cleanest teeth. These fish are fed well. The place is kept very clean, there are a lot of staff to answer your questions. And there is someone even cleaning the outside of the tanks. They also have a sea horse tank. The butterfly garden is small, saw some zebra butterflies and I think a cardinal bird. You can walk towards the inlet and there is a small peaceful beach and picnic area that is covered. Parking lot is small but plenty of parking on a Tuesday morning at 9:30, but the time we left at 11:30 it was filled and there was a school bus. Figure 1.5 to 2 hours here. They also have a fish feeding at 12:30 but we were done before then. Would come back again!

This small but mighty facility rescues and researches turtles and other marine life but turtles mainly. Staff/volunteers are very friendly, informative, and eager to help. They have fish feeding and turtle talks not sure if daily or just weekends but check their website for schedule. Also check the weather because if there is lightning, they will close. This spot is free but you can make a donation in the main building to help support the education and research provided here. There is free parking but it gets full quick. However the place is not that large and it may take only a couple loops to line up with someone leaving. If not there is paid beach parking across the street along the road there. There isn't a food or beverage but maybe bring a water bottle if you plan on doing the overlook (especially as it gets hotter). They have a butterfly garden but we only saw one butterfly at the time. They have two tall tanks where they do the feedings that have fish, rays, and a couple turtles. They also have two smaller tanks, one with really large fish and another with smaller. There are some outdoor tortoises as well as a college Marine research area where you can watch them being studied and ask questions of the students there. The overlook is beautiful and provides a nice view of the intracoastal and a slight view of the ocean. There are a few interactive educational boards along the walk up the ramp. If you want a more direct route up or down, they also have stairs. The path also extends into the mangroves and along the way back to the main building.

Well, I've finally come to review a cemetery! After all, I've reviewed many medical professionals,…read moreveterinarians, and one service we all will need one day is a place to be buried. Or if you chose to be cremated, a place for your ashes in an urn. Of course your family or best friend may take your ashes and place it in an urn or keep them the cardboard, as delivered from the crematorium. Now believe me, I don't like the thought of dying. And what happens to me afterwards. And all the tacky yelp reviews I'll miss. And the weird people who run for President and actually get elected. Frankly, I've decided that one day I will die, and my loving husband of 50 years will die also. And I don't want him to have to take care of these arrangements while being traumatized by my death. And I sure don't want to deal with his death and family demands when he leaves my life. So we both decided that before 2023 was over we would buy cemetery property, or as we have kidded, real estate. And real estate it is. And like any real estate, its location location location. We didn't even look around at the established cemeteries across South Florida. They weren't our style. If a cemetery can have a style, and indeed, it can. We had taken our own mini tour of The Gardens when they first opened. We sort of just walked into one of their huge buildings which contain crypts, where metal caskets are placed in the wall. Either side by side. Or head to head. And then there are what I like to call the "glass boxes" where urns are placed. And along with the urns family members can include anything about the person they chose. Wedding rings. Photos of them as babies. As war veterans. Performing on Broadway. With their children. With their lovers. Their partners. Their wives. Multiple wives (I kid you not!) just let your imagination run wild. After looking at many of those "glass boxes" I found them fascinating as they told a story about the person's life. And while I tried to persuade my husband to go with that option he did not like the idea of cremation. So, metal casket it was. We worked with Laura T, a family counselor, who realistically, walks you through the two buildings and shows you the real estate. There are 6 levels of crypts and those at eye height are the most expensive. Or you can get real estate on level six, and if your loved ones didn't have cervical spine issues before they are sure to get them if they actually visit you and look up, up, up. Get it? This is a beautiful cemetery. The mausoleums. And the in ground burial plots. This is first class. This is where the folks who drive around in Rolls Royce's and the assorted other $200,000 + cars go to rest. And some of the real estate is priced just for them! There is a chapel in each building. There are many seating areas. There are many niches where a small umber of crypts are located. And those are really expensive. Like being in a gated community of 1000 homes or 10. Hey, it is a different vibe, right? We selected our locations after seeing many. We signed a contract. We are paying monthly with no interest or fees for 36 months. And now we have to take care of the FUNEREAL ARRANGEMENTS. Note, those are separate from and in addition to the real estate you'll be placed in. I can honestly say I liked this place. I mean, for a cemetery. And work with Laura T. She is nice. Sweet. Kind knows her "stuff". Persistent. I'll add photos as appropriate.

A bridge and waterfall are integrated into the property to make this place as whimsy and as tropical as a fantasy island. The lorikeets have their own house, where you can feed them honey nectar and they will land on you. Really cool experience! There is a cafe for lunch, plants for sale, and a lovely hallmark-type giftshop that has any and everything related to butterflies.

I have visited Deerfield Island Park twice since it reopened earlier this summer. It is a Broward…read morecounty park and free to visit. There were a lot of upgrades made. The paths are well marked and wide. There are benches along the paths. There are picnic tables and water fountains on the island. The trails are appropriate for most abilities. The island is well shaded. There are a few butterfly statues which make for a nice photo op. You catch the shuttle boat at Sullivan Park, it runs on the hour between 10 and three Friday through Sunday. Parking is convenient ( and free) in the large lot. If you have children you could also visit Sullivan Park. Local lore has it that Al Capone buried some treasure here although it has never been found. You can see all the island in about an hour but could make a day of it with a picnic lunch.

My total for two adults plus animal food was about $36 because I got one of each food! The pizza was so good. It is not included in your admission, so be prepared to spend money. But if you're going just to pet the animals, it is definitely such a cheap experience and I would not trade this experience for the world. This same experience in my hometown probably would've been upwards $150. The only additional thing you have to pay for animal-wise is the cows. Which will run you $5 for five minutes or $10 for 10 minutes. Just do it, they're perfect. There are two cows they are so sweet. They are named John and Boots. You also get to hold the bunnies for free. You get to feed the goats for free and you get to go into their enclosures and literally just hang out with goats for like 10 minutes. It's all self paced too! Make sure you try the pizza place as well it was elite! Only downside about this place was that there weren't any reptiles :( Overall, 1000/10 can't wait to come back to Florida and visit again next year!

My kids spent the whole time pointing at things they saw. In the front, there is a table with paper products and pizza fixings. You don't have to eat inside though - there is also eating outside. A small backdoor is the secret entrance to their amazing backyard space- full of tropical plants, statues, some covered tables (although not covered during heavy rain). To go beyond this, you must pay a fee- to see their animals. A very old school florida spot! It was raining so we weren't able to go this time, but my kids loved looking at all the vintage things and drooling over a million candies, that it was fun just being there.

Felt like it was actually misting but no rain. Lots of water under the walkway. It's a Lush forest. Then I did the 1 mile loop prairie trail plus an extra 300 yard loop trail off the prairie trail. Overall a nice forest. Check it out if you haven't been. It's free and plenty of parking was available on a Saturday. They Even had a cleaning station with a water hose and foot scrubber to clean your shoes on the way out.
