The worst tanning salon experience of my entire life. I have been going to Boca Tanning club in Boca Raton for YEARS. I just moved to Miami and have a membership with them so I figured I would try their location in Brickell. WORST MISTAKE. The parking lot is so small and filled with guys trying to sell you things out of their trunks. There were also 3 cars with boots taking up spaces and at least 10 guys on scooters just watching everyone go in and out. After I drove around 3 times for 30 minutes I finally was able to park. I walked in and it was nothing like the other salons. It was disgusting and dirty AND they said my membership would not work with them. They also don't have the same beds. Their beds were dirty and old and held together with tape. The rooms were also disgusting. This salon gives Boca tanning a HORRIBLE name and should be removed as one of their salons on the website. Well. I'm writing again. I moved up to North Miami and have been to a few other salons out of convenience... But nothing, Absolutely nothing, compares to this salon... I went again last night and did the high pressure to build on the tiny bit of natural sun I had from being outside at work. I woke up and looked on the mirror and was like holy crap. I forgot how strong that bed was when you already have a slight base tan. It looked like I had went to one of the other tanning salons every day for two weeks. I am fully reminded now of why I keep my membership even though I don't always have time to go more than a few times a month - and that's because this place is awesome and with the low price of their memberships it's highway robbery. Another thing that I wanted to point out is maintenance. When this salon first opened they bought really expensive beds that no other salon has and now probably 4 or 5 years later those beds are working just as good. They change the bulbs, keep the place maintained and make improvements where needed. They also have amazing lotions if you want a lotion that not only gets you dark, but is good for your skin. (Their newly lighted and cased lotion cabinet would be just a one of their improvements.) This place really truly is the best tanning salon in South Florida. Their unlimited monthly membership is only $49 and with tax it comes out to less than $55. And then if you ever want to upgrade to a spray tan you get a ridiculously low price for the spray. I really just love this place. I might visit other salons out of convenience, but this is by far my favorite out of any place I have been in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville or North Jersey. I hope in the future they open locations in South Beach and San Souci or Aventura. read more

He acts bothered when you walk in and is on his phone the whole time you are trying to talk to him. He has a serous attitude when you walk in and is super mean. I love me some Boca Tanning! Now that I've been 100% relocated to Brickell... the last step was finding a new salon. Of course I went straight for a Boca Tan due to my past experiences, and I'm happy I stuck with it. The salon is absolutely adorable, everything is very detailed and cozy, I felt very comfortable upon walking in. The beds are clean, the bathroom is clean, everything is clean! So I feel confident laying in a bed and tanning. Amber at the front was very helpful, and we decided a membership would work best for me. So I signed up, picked out a lotion and went to tan! This place certainly has their sales pitch down to a tee. Very smart of them to show you all the cool stuff so you can ooh and aaah your way around the hefty monthly fee. After I saw the powerful bulbs, cooling mist (with aromatherapy) the private spacious rooms (with deodorants, mints etc), the beds with a mediterranean & caribbean option and place to plug in your iPod as well as an optional face tanner that you can turn off -- I said "sign me up!!!" I've been loyal to another salon for years, but this place is RIGHT DOWN THE STREET from me. More importantly the hours make it possible for me to get my money's worth because worst case scenario -- I can sneak in a tanning session at 2 am if I absolutely must. This place is really open 24 hours (except Sunday & Monday). It was hard to believe that the session did anything to me because the fans, mists and music keep you quite comfy and relaxed in the bed. Although a little more pricey than other competing salons, the beds appear to be top of the line and the contract is only for 3 months. For people that become members, they offer you "locker space" for you lotions and goggles -- how convenient is that? read more

The worst experience ever. My friend invited me to try it out and said he took a friend the week before to try it and they got a free session. The guy at the front desk said that offer expired. He then said he makes up his own promotions to help out clients but that he can't honor the previous promo because he'll get in trouble? Then there was an ad on the door of one of the tanning rooms that said refer a friend get $10 and your friend gets a free session. Again the same guy said I would have to come back for that session, how does that make sense? all the while he had an attitude. Awful customer service, when I said I won't be getting the membership, they even hung up the phone in my face in the rudest way possible showing no manners at all. Be careful about putting a credit card on file. I walked in as a previous customer, and they didn't respect this and still tried to cheat me. I tried to prepay for a new membership in cash and they mislead me and wouldn't explain why they needed a credit card on file when I'm prepaying in cash. I found out later they were gonna put automatic charges and make me commit to a longer plan than I wanted and that I agreed to. What a scam!!! read more

Was visiting from Seattle and didn't want to show up at an event with pasty white legs so went for my first spray tan here. First, I can't believe they are open for 24 hours. Do people really tan at 2 in the morning? Maybe in Miami, but where I live in Seattle, I can't imagine a 24 hr tanning salon would ever be profitable, but what do I know, right? But I digress... I read the reviews on this facility prior to going in. The reviews really described a less than desirable experience with high pressure sales tactics - even for out of town guests. So I went in prepared to deal with these shenanigans. To my surprise - I did not experience this one bit. The guy behind the counter was super nice and super helpful. He showed me to the tanning room, gave me instructions and I was in and out of there within 20 minutes total. It can't get any easier than that. I did preface my visit with "I'm from out of town so I only need or want one visit" so that may have helped set the tone. The cost was a bit pricey at $30 but I think that's the going rate for one session. As for the Versaspa spray tan (I think that's what they use), it was my first time and I was worried about how it would look so I went with the 'clear' to allow it to develop over time instead of the instant bronzing since some people had written that was not always the best option. I think I turned the wrong directions so I was worried how it would turn out. I turned left when they said right and vice versa -- I kept thinking of Ross from the Friends episode when he went to spray tan so I think I subconsciously psyched myself into making the same mistake. Nonetheless, the tan still came out nicely. I went with the #1/light and it gave me a sun-kissed look. Maybe someday I'd try the #2 if I can find a Versaspa near where I live.. The Boca Tanning Club only had 2 shades, light and dark. I can see how it might have been better if I had turned the right directions but since it was only the 'light' shade, it was only noticeable to me since I knew what had happened. Overall - a great experience - I have decided that my pasty white legs DO look better with some color so I may venture out and try this more regularly in Seattle. We'll see. read more

Got tired of the cold spell last week and felt a little pale/ vitamin D deficient so I thought I'd check these guys out since they are on my way to the gym. They had a very reasonable first time customer special- $25 for a week of unlimited tanning. The place is clean, there is no wait time and they provide little stickies for your eyeballs and towels. You complete a questionnaire and they recommend a tanning time based on your skin type. You can choose to lie down or use a standup bed. Boy, have times changed since the 90s! 8 minutes and your bum takes on a scary pink color. Ouch. Now, as far as signing up for a membership or buying sessions in advance, they are overpriced. A single session for $25 is straight robbery. Especially in a city like Miami when you have the beach available. read more

My appointment was not registered and when I arrived, I was told the Express tan option wasn't available beacuse they were out (I had plans that evening so Express was my only option). This place is nice and convenient. Love the hours. Nice and clean for the most part. I do the spray tan. Sometimes they don't have the towel wipes, or hair caps which is annoying but I come prepared. Do not give this place your credit card. Be warned. Despite having filled out the cancellation form they kept charging me for 4 months. I personally stopped in several times a week asking to speak to a manager. Finally get a call from a private number and they acknowledge that I canceled but have yet to return my money. Whatever you do...DO NOT GO TO BOCA TANNING CLUB BRICKELL. I was SO utterly disappointed (disgusted) with the service that I received here (considering I was tricked into paying $70)!! If I could give it no stars I would. I mentioned their Yelp.com offer (pay for 1 get 1 free), and the lady tried to make me pay for other packages, when I said I don't live around here, she then told me she 'had no clue' about the Yelp offer!? I insisted but she 'couldn't find it' Then she made me pay for '2 get 3rd free' and I was ok with it. I wanted regular 'winkies' she 'recommended I use peepers' but did not tell me there was an extra cost involved in this (I've never been to tanning salon where I had to shell out extra cash to protect my eyes?) ... When I use my card to pay, I realize my total was beyond what I expected, but it was too late I was in the spider's web. I then ask how many minutes I get in the booth, she says TEN minutes assuredly (and you know what it's like paying 2$ for a minute worth if UV, you expect your money's worth)... I go into my booth, use up the lotion packet she recommended (which was 10$ btw with so little in there), get into the booth...and my session lasts for 8 minutes only! I felt totally cheated. To make matters worse, I leave the booth, make my complaint to the 'manager' (who's some kid from who knows where) who starts getting RUDE WITH ME, telling me I'm rude for voicing my disappointment. he said in a very rude, teenagey sort of way "so what exactly are you saying, you want me to give you an extra session?" ...I could NOT believe my ears! this place is ridiculous. If you're looking for professional, honest service and transparent business...look elsewhere coz you ain't gona get it here! In fact you'll curse yourself for wasting every penny you've wasted here. I do not recommend going here if your money means anything to you. Nice people and clean; however, they cannot keep track of the tans they sell. It's disappointing to pay for 6 and get 4 free (or whatever the special is), but the free ones are never added to your account. I've never lied or tried to "get over" with any business in my life, but every time I'd visit here it seemed I was having to review my account. Honestly, they need a better system. Losing a couple "free" tans here or there add up. And the stress of having that discussion over and over and over. Not worth it! This is definitely the nicest tanning salon I have been to. Now when it comes to providing their services, I think they should really consider taking it up a notch. Many times I have checked in, I'm put in a room right away, but that is usually because I wake up at 5am and am at the salon by 5:30am or so. There were times in the past, I would be touching the doorbell in order to get in and it would take five minutes to get in because the guy on shift would be sleeping and it took a few times of ringing the doorbell to have him wake up. After I was done with my session, I noticed the guy wasn't behind the counter, so he went right back to sleep in their office. I assume this guy ended up getting fired because I haven't seen him there since. The past couple of times I've gone early morning have been pleasant. Now when it comes to tanning evenings or weekends, then that is a different story. Either they should have two people on shift or one person who is an expert on multi-tasking. One weekend, my husband and I went and spent about half an hour waiting because the girl behind the counter was giving an in depth tour of the facilities plus explaining every package they had available plus explaining their different tanning lotions. About three more customers came in behind us and were also waiting. I was becoming extremely inpatient because instead of checking in her customers waiting and explaining to the potential customers what she needed to do, she ignored everyone waiting in line. Finally, she is done with them and when she goes to check us in, one room was ready for use and the other one wasn't. So on top of waiting a very long time, my husband had to wait AGAIN to have the room sanitized. As for evenings, my only problem is that the rooms are not sanitized fast enough and we usually have to wait. Another complaint that I have is that if we are paying a premium for good service, please BOCA TANNING, make sure everything is working properly. It's great that they have music to listen to while you are on the bed. These tanning beds get really hot. I have no complaint about the fans because all levels seem to work. What bothers me is that they don't check the levels of the mist. I have tanned plenty of times where no mist comes out at all. I need the mist blown on my face because it gets really hot in there! Another complaint I have is that they ran out of the tanning stickers I usually get from them. I asked them if they can order some more TWICE. It's been about two months and still nothing! So I went on E-bay and ordered them myself. Mind you, Boca Tanning gives these to their customers for free. Well not for me. I had to purchase them on top of the premium I pay. What I do like about Boca Tanning is that it's in the heart of Brickell, they have five free parking spaces behind the building they are located in, are open 24 hours Wednesday through Sunday (Monday and Tuesdays they open at 9AM), having many toiletries to use after your tanning session, and occasionally have their small fridge stocked up with small bottled waters. So this is why I give Boca Tanning three stars. I hope they read my review and improve their customer service. I really like this place and it definitely has potential. read more

The corporate office is just as useless as this individual salon. They let the owner do whatever she wants- including cursing at customers and get away with it. Further, they violate many health department rules, including tanning customers in beds with broken acrylics which is a huge danger. If you want top notch service and a tan go to the Gables location. The owner there is the nicest and her beds actually work. read more
