Especially in winter, a place like this is a godsend. That being said, the Northeast Regional Recreation Center isn't in the best shape, at least the portion I've visited. My son spent the winter playing indoor soccer here. The nets and goals seem like they have seen better days. The turf did appear to be fine. Another issue with this rec center is the parking. If you get here early or play the first round of games, you are rewarded with parking. Otherwise it is really hit or miss. There is a lot of waiting in lines and being patient while vehicles try to turn around in cramped spaces (only one way in and out of the parking lot). Most of the time we wound up parking at the shopping center and trudging through the ice and snow and darkness to our games. Ultimately, I'm glad there is a place for indoor soccer (and indoor walking which I would do during his games) but I have definitely been to nicer rec centers and hope this one can be updated.

We stopped by for brunch at a place nearby and did the approx. 3 mile route around the park. There was a kite festival and there were a bunch of families and friends flying kites and enjoying the day. People were picnicking and playing music- really enjoying the spring day. If you have not been to this park, I highly recommend. It's a great place to spend the weekend.

It is a nice slick floor, the best floor for busting out dance moves. We were shake n baking. They accept credit cards for the rink and serve pizza, snacks, hot dogs, fries, and other food. Surprisingly, there were a lot of good skaters, better than the average that I have seen, which made it more fun!!! I will definitely be back for the Sunday adult night! Btw the DJ was one of the best hip hop DJs I have experienced at a roller rink ever and I have been to several rinks across the country. Actually, just having looked back at pictures, it is very CASTLE - esk. It's practically a large castle. So, you get into the center and it's more like a large gym space though. The ceiling is very high which is nice- makes the room very airy. I was here for the Maryland Ensemble Theater's Retro Prom. They decorated the place nicely. And the venue seems like it could easily fit 500 people reception style. There is a lack of parking, but the large expansive room makes up for it. If memory serves me right, there were basketball hoops attached to the ceiling. It is very much like a gym feel. There are fields around the building. A great large event venue in a town where not many at all exist.
