Another year, another surprise crown. This one a redo of one that was put on probably 20 years ago. Dr. Pat did an excellent job of taking off the old and cooking up a new one and her amazing photo printer machine. I was out the door and about three hours with a brand new crown that fits perfectly. This is a predatory dental office. "Gaslighting" is the best summing up of many of the experiences I have had, and many of those reported here by other reviewers. I thought my experience sounded so unbelievable, that no one would believe me. Then I saw many had my same experiences I, like other reviewers here, have been misled, lied to, called a liar, sold procedures I was told I needed but did not, or told would work, but did not. The office manager is so unpleasant and aggressive to deal with (let's call her "Tammy") that I assume most, like myself, will just pay the overages, eat the lies, bury the rage, and write it all off to: "Cost for One Life Lesson, Learned." You will be pressured into services you don't need; You will be charged for stuff that, based on your direct and immediate experience, will sound like 'a typo or something.' If you persist with your questions, this will be interpreted as a threat to not pay your bill (although you never mentioned that). This may make you feel like you are, indeed, some pathetic, low-life con artist. You'll have to watch your statement, because the known predatory office practice of adding 'statement sent' dates (that were not received) turning a 30 day account into a 120 day account to leave you open to 'we'll report you to collections" if you challenge a charge--are all in play for this office. I visited the office four times, and every time, there was either a disgruntled person in the office demanding all of their records, a disgruntled person on the phone demanding records, or Dr. Patt on the phone--in earshot of all of her patients in chairs--clearly dealing with someone angry, and she being combative about it. I remember thinking both times, "she should be taking these confrontational calls in her private office." The only tangible, actually needed service I ever received at this office that was not a set-up for a $5,000 + financial commitment was the woman who did the teeth cleaning on the opening visit. She was very good. Dr. Patt, while sometimes brash, is attractive and can be personable and intelligent and, at first, you're so excited because you think you've found your Forever Dentist. And she came recommended! Only later did I learn the friend of a friend who recommended Dr. Patt had never been a patient of Dr. Patt's. Dr. Patt had been recommended to her by the office manager of a dental surgeon's office (Bosdi). If you get a referral specifically to Dr. Patt from a dental surgeon's office, do your due diligence. On both of them. I believe Dr. Patt is may be very talented at making fake teeth. But she reminds me of someone on the hustle. Dr. Patt, if you're reading this, I advice you to direct money away from marketing efforts (see paid reviews) and sit down with a good business consultant. I agree with the other reviewer who called this office "predatory." After our previous dentist of 15 years sold her practice, our whole family (my mother and father-in-law, my husband and me) were referred to Dr. Patt, and I scheduled a routine cleaning with her to start my patient care. I almost fell out of my chair when she recommended that I get veneers -- again, I scheduled a routine cleaning, and I am definitely not in the market for cosmetic dentistry. My teeth still look very good -- I've never even had a cavity. When I dismissed the idea of veneers outright, she pivoted, recommending that I get a significant amount of expensive dental work (she also recommended that other members of my family get a significant amount of expensive dental work). I thought it was odd that my previous dentist, who I had been with for 15 years, never recommended such dental work, so I went for a second and a third opinion after my husband grew suspicious. The second opinion, which came from a dentist in my family who had been practicing for 35 years, examined my x-rays and records and told me that the majority of the dental work recommended by Dr. Patt appeared to be unnecessary and, in fact, would have been detrimental to my dental health. But, because that dentist is based in California and unavailable to examine me in person, he recommended that I visit with a local dentist. So, I found a local dentist who was able to examine me in person, as well as the x-rays and pictures provided by Boco Dental (SIDE NOTE: Boco Dental failed to provide occlusals for the teeth which most clearly did not need any dental work, something the second opinion told me was an immediate "red flag"). The local dentist told me that Dr. Patt's treatment plan was, and I quote, "crazy" and completely unnecessary. Unfortunately, before I sought second and third opinions that debunked Dr. Patt's treatment plan, other members of my family had already undergone and paid for expensive dental work recommended by Dr. Patt. We are now left scratching our heads about whether all this dental work was even necessary. Ultimately, I told Dr. Patt that I am not paying the $180 she wants to charge me for her "observations, diagnosis, and treatment," for walking into the room and telling me that I need veneers (truly ridiculous) and unnecessary dental work. Notwithstanding the fact that Boco Dental has made a collective total of tens of thousands of dollars off of multiple members of our family, she appears to be holding firm on charging me $180 for her bogus conclusions which would have ruined my teeth. Please find a dental office that places patient care ahead of their own bottom line. I am considering reporting Dr. Patt to the Colorado Dental Board, because the ADA prohibits dentists from recommending or performing "unnecessary dental services or procedures," deeming such behavior unethical. read more

This review is going to be long but please read to the end, I want to make sure you understand why you need to go somewhere else. So it started out I was super excited to finally be getting one of my front teeth done that was damaged by my dog when he was a puppy. I then decided since I was fixing that tooth I should basically get most of them done and whitened by getting veneers put on them. Anyway, that excitement was quickly smashed into pieces after having to deal with Dr. Patt. Wow! Not only will she argue with you about what you want and what you decide for your mouth! She will be demeaning while doing so. Like when I showed her what color I had picked out for MY teeth, she very sarcastically while in my face said "if atomic white is what you're going for then go ahead" ... why yes Dr.Patt that is what i was going for, I wasn't asking for your sarcastic opinion, I was just sharing with you what color I had chosen. On another occasion I was in her chair 7+ hours and had to have multiple shots to keep re-numbing my mouth as she would get involved with other patients and then start to work back on my mouth... invariably my numbness would be gone so I would need to moan or wince to let her know I was in pain. she then said to her assistant while I'm sitting in the chair and could hear her for her to hurry up because she's tired of listening to me screaming, and not in a concerning way, in a i'm a horrible person way. Really? Is this how you want to be treated by a dentist who is clearly lacking in empathy??? And charging you enormous amounts of money while treating you this way??? The worst part is not even after a month of getting veneers done and having to sit in her chair for multiple hours being berated by her, I now have to go to a new dentist to have four of those veneers that she just put on drilled off and re-done by someone Who is actually listening to what I want for once. Also, during one of the horrifying sessions I had with her, she ended up fracturing one of my implants that I already had, and now tries to blame me that it was that way already( i have pictures showing otherwise),,and one of the other veneers that she did, all the glaze is worn off and there's a dark spot on my tooth that looks like I have a piece of dirt on it all the time...so those two teeth will also eventually need to be replaced on me! Yes, she did actually refund me for two of my horrible veneers but not enough to cover all the damage that has been done that's for sure. Do yourself a favor, take what I wrote to heart, and do not, and I repeat, do not go to this practice for any reason whatsoever! I even had brought my husband with me one time so he could see how horrible she is with his own eyes and he even said that she was awful and needs to find a new job. I love this dental office.  They have a friendly and astute staff.  I have seen Dr. Patt for many years.  She does a good, focused exam and is definitely attentive to preventative health. I know this office has my best interest in mind and I trust them with my dental care. My cleanings are always thorough, but gentle.  People in the office are happy and wonderful to work with. Overall I feel that BOCO Dental is great at keeping up with the latest in technology, practices and treatments. They take great care to use the safest equipment available, such as low-radiation digital X-rays and titanium implants. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a dentist office. I saw the multiple bad reviews, but a trusted retiring dentist recommended her, so I decided to give her a try. Patt was rude, aggressive, and abusive. She made nasty comments about me to her assistant, which she thought I could not hear, but I did. When I tried to talk to her she screamed that it was "her office" and she could say whatever she wanted. When I declined unnecessary work that I simply thought was not needed and I could not afford, she went into a rage. Patt refused to answer simple questions, and was very annoyed with my asking them, and her annoyance showed. It seemed to me that her only interest was in making a lot of money, whether I needed the work or not. I found Patt to be unprofessional, angry and actually frightening. There is not much you can say to a person who has lost their temper and is in a rage. I hope that by writing this review, coupled with the other bad reviews, other potential patients will be forewarned. I can not ever imagine having a dentist like Patt working on me. read more

I have been a patient of BOCO Dental for many years now under both Dr. Timchula and Dr. Patt - with excellent care from both. Dr. Patt has correctly identified my various dental issues, made the appropriate repairs, and "watches" situations that are not necessarily an issue yet. She has never forced treatment. She also refers appropriately as needed so I trust her completely with my dental care. Finally, my dental hygienist, Stephanie, is amazing! I have the best dentist! If you need a referral, Dr. Judy and her staff are wonderful.

Trusting your dentist is most important and that is why Dr. Patt's practice is my 1st choice. She gets to the point about giving her expert advice as to the best procedures needed to keep ones mouth healthy and looking great. Dentistry can be and is generally expensive and my goal is to listen to her and not cut corners. Having good dental insurance is important to help with costs. Dentistry must be attended to regularly and that's what I do per the treatment plan set up by the hygienist, Darby, and Dr. Patt. During and after every cleaning Darby patiently explains exactly what she is doing, how well she sees that I am doing with oral care, and what she recommends moving forward such as proper water pic use. The office staff is polite and professional and always ready to answer questions when I call and provide documentation when asked. Recently I had a dental emergency on a Saturday morning and Dr. Patt returned my call quickly and ordered the antibiotics needed. The very next Monday morning Tammy, her longtime office person, called me to set up a time as soon as possible for me to see Dr. Patt. The best outcome was the result- the tooth was saved and a root canal was not needed!! read more

I love Dr. Patt and all the staff and especially Tami and Donna at the front desk. They are courteous, professional and very caring and have a great sense of humor. When I came to the office I had neglected my teeth for a period of time when I was involved in a long work project. I knew there were issues and I was feeling a bit embarrassed about my teeth. During my first cleaning appointment I related this to Darby and she could not have been kinder and more supportive, to the point that she put me at ease. She set the stage as this was the first step to getting my dental hygiene back on track and together with their office we have done just that. I am very grateful as my dental health is so much better. The quality of the work is much higher than many dental offices I have been to. To be fair to dentists they are often attempting to read less than perfect images and make decisions based on those...it is not a perfect science. Also I missed an appointment while traveling and thought I had notified the office but the email system I replied to was not enabled for responses. I requested that they forgive the charge for this missed appointment due to my honest error and they generously did so. Dr. Patt can be direct at times as she takes her job seriously but if you tease her a bit you get a fun response. Again, I really feel the quality of work done in her office is very high and the level of education and expertise with Dr. Patt is a cut above many dentists I have been to. Hope this opinion helps somebody...to learn what I have learned. Warning, unethical practices here. Overbills (illegally), does unnecessary work, has unqualified (illegal) people do work on your teeth, and won't stand behind problems they create. Judith is interested in making a lot of money and unfortunately not in the health of your teeth. I saw Judith Timchula several years ago. She required me signing a paper that said I would pay anything the insurance didn't pay (e.g. pay the difference between what she charged and her insurance contracted amount). I found out years later this is illegal. I said in our initial visit that I got different opinions from dentists about the work needed on my teeth, with some saying all the existing fillings had to be replaced and some saying everything was fine. She said she had ways to tell which teeth really needed to be done and which didn't (taking pictures of the outside of the teeth as well as x-rays). But after a year or so during a time she knew I had high stress in my life she suddenly said ALL my existing fillings had deteriorated greatly since my last checkup and they all needed to be replaced now. Unfortunately I agreed to the work because of the stress I was under and because I didn't suspect a dentist's goal would be to make a lot of money off you doing unnecessary work. Partway into the work, I asked what told her the teeth had suddenly deteriorated, she replied she just knew. I asked about the pictures taken of the outside of the teeth (what she said initially would give her the info), she said those told her nothing. I went to another dentist none of the work she said still had to be done needed to be done (and no other dentist since then has said it was needed). Also, Judith was only interested in replacing the fillings where a couple teeth had fillings in a row (faster for her?) and she would only schedule the work so multiple teeth were being worked on at once (e.g. 2-3 teeth next to each other that all had one old filling in them). Judith's assistants are students or maybe dental assistants. Legally they can't drill teeth, so Judith would drill the tooth and have them do all the other work (put in fillings, crowns, etc.). At one visit one assistant was unsure if she was completing the work ok (drilling on a filling between two teeth to make space to enable flossing). This assistant drilled out way too much and drilled a bunch of healthy tooth away (illegal) and left a hole between the teeth. When scheduling my next visit the office said you don't want to come when (the assistant that just worked on me) worked - indicating she was no good. I thought huh, she just worked on me. When I came for my next visit (about a month later) I told Judith how that area was now a problem - large chunks of food stuck in that hole between the teeth all the time. Judith blew me off like it was not her problem and would not discuss it or even look at it. Nobody at the office did any bite adjustment (always done by my other dentists when they changed the shape of a tooth with a filling/crown). Note, a worse problem at this office as the person drilling the original tooth material was not the one putting back in the filling material so they had no idea what that really looked like before. I was talking to someone in the waiting room who had some severe problems with bite issues caused by Judith removing a lot of her fillings and Judith would do nothing to fix it. Stay away from this office. Don't be fooled because the staff acts nice. Judith does not care about the health of your teeth - she just wants to make a lot of money having assistants (trained or not, legal or not) doing a lot of the work, insisting you do unnecessary work, and making you (illegally) pay the amount above her insurance contracts. read more

Dr, Timchula and Staff are as good as it gets. Gentle, caring, trustworthy, modern techniques and equipment. I had fillings and preventive work done here in 98, 15 years ago and recently went back to get another filling done. Since my work in 98, every dentist I have been to has complemented the work that had been done. This time around was no different. Getting teeth cleaned was like going to a teeth spa. Getting my filling done was easy, I felt zero pain and I am very happy with my results. I would recommend Dr, Timchula to everyone. Another little back story: Before I went back to Timchula, my wife and I had a checkup visit with comfort dental in boulder, after the exam they told me I had 7 cavities and my wife 4. From comfort dental we received the worst dental experience of our lives and decided to get a second opinion. Luckily we did, Dr. Timchula assured me I only had 3 and my wife had zero cavities, she showed me details of x-rays and even photos of all my teeth. read more

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous review. At first I thought this office was great, until my teeth shifted due to gum recession and a few loosened some and then every time I went in I was made to feel I would lose those teeth in a minute and better get on my way to some implants (once the new specialist joined the practice). Well, three different periodontist exams later I know that is far from the truth. None of them, and one of them is the most highly respected periodontist in Boulder, agrees even remotely with these dentists. I then made the decision to leave this practice and sent an email as to why (the periodontist opinions as well as how Dr. Timchula's demeanor changed every time she looked in my mouth as if it was doomsday...so not cool when it's already not the easiest thing to go to a dentist when you know you have issues) and never received a response, an apology, nothing. She would even make remarks like she was worried she would pull out those teeth accidentally just by touching them! The way she spoke to and treated me caused me great stress and I still today, even after other more educated opinions, overly think about my mouth. I would definitely recommend staying away from this office. The final straw was when I had another specialist request my x-rays from this office and they were told no because I was no longer a patient there. They told me they had never received that response from a dental office before and it was very unusual. I paid for those x-rays so unsure of what the problem was. There are many other excellent dentists in the area to choose from. Just don't go here. read more
