7 hours and (only) 7 quests later, I can't wait to come back for a third time! This type of adventure is groundbreaking and addicting, and I love working in teams to solve these ridiculous puzzle rooms. Pros: +Highly active way to spend a day (you can DEFINITELY skip the gym)! +Totally different experience than any you've had before (unless you've been to the Boda Borgs in Sweeden or Ireland) +Awesome staff Cons: -The waiting is real for popular quests. Come with a team that you feel comfortable talking to because you will spend much of your time waiting. Tips for Boda Borgers: +BYO knee pads (or rent for $2). You WILL be bruised from crawling otherwise. +Wear athletic gear. +Make a reservation and fill out the online wavier! Saturdays are packed and usually there are no walk-ins allowed. +Get the day-long pass and BYO snacks (and go on a day you have at least 5-7 hours to spend there). Two hours is not enough time to do many of the quests, especially if it is packed. You'll spend at least an hour just waiting to get back into rooms. +A 3-person team might be ideal (getting 5 people through some of the physical quests is challenging unless you are all in tip top shape)! +Free parking in the Centre street garage on weekends! +Water bubbler upstairs near taco bar +Check your key and lock in the lockers to make sure they work before you start because sometimes you don't get the right key or lock for your locker Tips for Boda Borg management: 1. These rooms need (more) soundproofing. You can hear conversations the groups in the rooms adjacent to you which is an unfair advantage. Even more annoyingly, if you are in the first room you can usually hear hallway chatter/yelling/kids pounding on doors which is super distracting. 2. The "fail" sound is too soft--if a team member isn't looking at the monitor (usually way at the far end of the room) the group may waste time not realizing that they already failed. Maybe there could be more monitors throughout the room so at least one team member will definitely see it? Also, for some reason every time you enter a room you hear the fail sound. It must be some kind of "reset" sound, but it's definitely confusing. Finally, it's a real neck strain to look at the monitor above the door when waiting outside the room for it to open. Any way these could be at door level instead? This also might minimize waiting with people not realizing the room changed to open. 3. The lockers are super finicky--we've now had problems on multiple occasions. Most recently a staff member told us we were given the wrong lock for the size of the locker we used, so maybe the front desk staff needs to be more careful when handing out locks/instructing people to use lockers. Despite these minor shortcomings, I can't wait to come back. These quests will haunt me until I solve them! read more

An unbelievably amazing amount of fun for everyone in our group! We took our kids, (8 & 12), but I can't wait to get back here with our adult friends for a great night out. This would work for everyone because you truly are trying your hardest whether you're with kids or adults. As an entertainment venue, what I really appreciated was that the amount of Quest choices means you never feel like you're stuck in a line. In fact, when you do have a minute to wait, you appreciate those moments to plan your next assault on whatever room is currently vexing you! Best part though is that it is just so different from anything else out there. We went on day one and ended up spending eight hours and couldn't believe how the time flew by! We did opt for the taco buffet for lunch, but we spent so long there and the tacos were so good (seriously!) that we really thought about getting dinner there as well. We finally decided that we were so mentally and physically tired that even though we wanted to have more fun, we called it a day and went to one of the many great restaurants right around them (check Yelp for great places to dine within a short walk.) Love coming here with friends! Can't wait until their planned expansion to the building next door is complete - target is late 2020, I hear. I'm giving 4 stars just because some puzzles are a lot better than others. For example, Potions and Access are absolutely fantastic - the rooms themselves are well designed and cool to see, with neat effects (and I think both were created by the in-house team, actually!). Spymaster could be better. One thing that is really awesome about Boda Borg is that people of all ages can come and enjoy it. That also means that some puzzles will be too easy for older players, and some will be too hard for younger players. But there is something for everyone. Some of the physical puzzles are a bit intense - don't let your ego get the best of you, know your limits! My dad actually fractured his wrist after taking a tumble in Super Banan. Lately it's been a bit of a bummer to always encounter sold-out weekend days at Boda Borg, but yesterday they were kind enough to allow our walk-in of 3 people. Amazing. Escape the Room meets Tough Mudder meets Legends of the Hidden Temple. Prepare to crawl, climb, and THINK. 20 series of mostly 3-4 rooms each and don't expect to solve more than maybe 7 after a full day. You'll likely have put your phone and watch in the free lockers so you'll have no idea what time it is and won't get distracted and time flies. Stayed from noon to 9pm, including the $10 taco bar for dinner. I had time to try all 20 challenges, though for most I couldn't get through the challenging final room, and for many even the first room stumped our team of four. I was really impressed with how Boda Borg appeals to kids, college kids, and adults alike. The huge range of challenges makes certain groups better at different rooms, but as long as you're in decent physical health, they're all accessible. I would, however, caution the elderly or those with knee problems (and maybe back problems) from most of the challenges. You need to be in absolute top physical shape to complete a few of the rooms (and know a decent bit about American culture for some trivia rooms). Make sure to being snacks and a water bottle. I would suggest gloves and maybe knee pads as well. As for how it's organized, a green challenge is all mental, black is all physical, and red is a mix, and you'll know from the door what to expect ahead of time. Otherwise, facilities worked 99% of the time, lines were reasonable to short (though weekends are likely packed), and no hints from the staff. Other than that, the weekday is the best time for line/kid free experience. $28 to play as long as you want or $18 for 2 hours, walk-ins on the weekend are hard to get for both, so reserve, reserve, reserve, and sign your life away on Boda Borg's waiver before you get there to save uber amounts of time. 18 themed challenges of 3-4 rooms and some even have 3 levels of 3-4 rooms, fail, fail and fail again to finally succeed. There are three levels of difficulty from mental, mental/physical, physical. Go in knowing nothing but come out feeling challenged. Best to go in groups of three, which is the minimum number of people you need in a group, while 5 is the max and is really a stretch for these challenges. There's plenty of hand sanitizer everywhere and it smells good too. $10 all you can eat tacos in one sitting till 8PM every night. Snacks and bottled beverages are available for purchase too. Bring a water bottle to fill up on water because cups are scarce. Check the picture for parking info. I want to start off by thanking Sweden for all its done for me: Steig Larsson, inexpensive furniture, veggie balls, and now BODA BORG. I cannot believe how lucky I am that I happen to live close to the first Boda Borg in North America! If you are able-bodied and live anywhere in the northeast--nay the US, I insist you make your way to Boda Borg. I have been here three times since the opening and am not sick of it yet. Although I am not yet a quest master (10 out of 16, thank you), I pray and believe that one day, I will be. (It's my destiny.) There are, of course, a few flaws (e.g. wait time for quests and lack of sound proofing in quest rooms); I recommend small games or riddles outside of the quests to make the waiting go by faster; something as simple as tic-tac-toe would be helpful. These flaws, however, are heavily outweighed by all the amazing fun that happens here! As far as quests go, I really recommend trying them all, but I suggest starting with Farm or Rats and then slowly making your way to more difficult ones like Platoon and Infra (because they can be somewhat discouraging, especially if your blank stamp sheet is mercilessly mocking you from within your pocket). You might also consider doing the more physical ones (e.g. Tough, Spider, and Step Up) while you still have energy. Bring kneepads, patience, and at least two friends here and you'll have the time of your life! read more

I completely see this place as being THE place to go for corporate team building, summer camps and of course, a great night out with friends. I've been here twice with my friends and it's so fun! Each quest has different themes and difficulty and unlike escape rooms, you have less than 2 minutes to figure out the room to be able to move forward and it's so much fun with friends. A lot of bonding and problem solving. I think this is great for all ages and we will definitely be coming back because there are 20 quests and we definitely haven't tried them all but definitely want to beat them all which will take a while haha Both times we've been have been so much fun! We went on April 29, 2023 and had a very bad experience. We had teens banging on the room door that was timed when our time was not up. We had teens twice hiding in the room and then jumped out scaring us after alerting management the first time which mgt. said they would take care of but it occurred again. LOVED it here. I can't wait to go back! There are a bunch of different sets of rooms, divided by levels. You have about a minute to get through each room to open the next door. Some of the challenges are physical and some are mental - you can choose based on what you feel like doing. I prefer the physical challenges, they're a ton of fun. It never feels like you're waiting too long to get into a room since the challenges are so fast. Don't confuse fast with easy! You will most likely run out of time before completing the challenge and have to start over a bunch of times. We spent over an hour trying to get through Alcatraz. Green - mental only Red - mental and light physical Black - physical (don't be scared to try it!) I'd recommend buying an unlimited pass because it is easy to spend over 2 hours here. read more

The lines are long & there are no clues to get you through to the next level. I've done 2 tough mudders (which is very physical and takes a toll on your body) and I thought this place would resemble an indoor tough mudder but it doesn't even compare. This place does have some challenging rooms it just doesn't provide you with any sort of clue in order to complete the obstacles. I had to ask the little kids around me what I was looking for. How are you supposed to go into a dark room and try to complete an obstacle if you don't know what you're looking for? The video online made this place look awesome but so far I'm not impressed. You have physical ones, which some may need ninja warrior training. Skill based are similar to carnival games, and knowledge based are like puzzles and closer to the escape room challenges. There are over 15 different rooms or sets of rooms to complete though physical or mental challenges (sometimes both) and range in difficulty, so there's something for everyone. It's tough! And fun! SO much fun. my friend from boston suggested coming here and described it as a more active version of escape the room. rules were pretty self explanatory and since we were there on easter sunday, boda borg staff actually added an additional challenge - find all the easter eggs in the rooms and bring them back to get a prize! tip: get there when it opens so that you don't need to wait for another team to finish a challenge. we had free rein of the place for a solid hour and ended up finding a lot of easter eggs since we were one of the firsts in the quest rooms. There were definitely quests that were more physically challenging - i couldn't do some of the ones that required a lot of arm strength but i was still pretty happy that i could do a lot of them. totally hope they also bring boda borg out to NYC! read more

Novel. Crowded. Daycare. BB is a set of 20 or so 2-4 room puzzles with a common theme completable only by teams of 3 or more. It's a novel real world equivalent of a video game puzzle like Tomb Raider: pull the wrong lever, step in the wrong panel, or guess the wrong sequence of lights and you fail and exit the the room set, having to start the whole sequence over again. Figure on 20-60m per room set as you rotate in/out of rooms and wait in line behind other teams trying to solve the same room puzzle. And that's where the fun stops: it's crowded, a bit like kiddie daycare, and even if you can book your group online in advance you want to be as far away from this place on a weekend as possible or accept waiting behind 2-3 other groups for the "popular" room puzzles like Alcatraz or Pirates. Rreplayability is also limited, since once you solve the room there's little joy in the solving of the same later. read more

I'm very conflicted writing this post. My last review for Boda Borg was back in 2018, where I gave it 4 stars. And my only concern at that time was that it had gone up in price. Now with the Pandemic, the price has essentially more than tripled for me. Before I'd stay for 12 hours, it would cost $36. Now they only offer max of 4 hours, and the price is still the same. And they now have no intention of bringing back all day questing, while I'm sure the prices will continue to go up and up. It's extremely disappointing as someone that has gone here probably 12+ times now. I have brought so many different groups here, we have always had such a blast. But with the prices just getting ridiculous, I won't be able to frequent it any further especially when they only offer 4 hours for the price that I previously paid for all day questing. What's also disappointing is probably in the last 2-3 years they have yet to really add or change any rooms that I can recall. I get it, they can use COVID as an excuse. But to then decide to not bring back the prices, or the hours as it originally was is just deciding to become greedy. I'll be taking my business and friends over to Level 99 at the Natick Mall where they DO have all day questing for a reasonable price as opposed to coming here any longer, until they hopefully change for the better. Did a 2 hour experience with coworkers tonight (Friday) and it was amazing. Despite it being crowded, the wait was never too long since the quests are only 2-4 minutes. Our team of 5 only solved two over two hours so you will be challenged. Bring comfy shoes and pants since you will likely be crawling on your knees at some point. We came in thinking we'd be there for 2.5 hours and ended up staying for over 5. This place is so addictive and we are definitely coming back. Managed to solve 8 of them and have some ideas of a few of the quests. I love that you never really have to wait long for the quests and you can spend your time wisely. The price for unlimited is basically the same as Escape Room, where you're only given an hour. It's also a smaller group of people, which I personally think makes it more enjoyable. It's a collection of "quest rooms" in which your group of 3-5 people needs to figure out how to solve the "challenge". You pay for either 2 hours or unlimited time, and are let loose to roam between the perhaps 15 rooms. Pros: It's clean and kids seem to like it, which is better than them doing drugs. Cons: As a 30-something with a college education and no kids, I didn't find it fun nor challenging. There are too many people admitted: on a weeknight, every room was occupied with one group waiting to get in, i.e. you spend half your time waiting. Many of the participants are under 18, certainly enough to be annoying. And I didn't find the quests mentally (or physically) challenging at all--- they are all guess what to touch/where to stand, get it wrong and repeat. I've done real escape rooms; Boda Borg is essentially a bunch of escape rooms for 14-year-olds that can eventually be done in under two-minutes. Can't recommend unless you have kids and are looking to not see them for a few hours. read more

I LOVE this place. I've gone twice and still can't get enough. It's a genius concept and perfect for everyone. Seriously. Friends, families, coworkers, old, young, everyone. And I love that it feels like everyone is in it together. No secrets are shared, no lines are cut, and no bad attitudes are had. There's an exciting and friendly energy shared by everyone. I'd recommend keeping your group size to 3 or 4, bringing knee pads (as dorky as that sounds), and getting the all day pass. We went out to a neighboring restaurant for our lunch break, but the taco bar actually looked tastier and cheaper. Wow. That kicked my butt! We were hoping to get more than three rooms done. We are relatively smart people. And we kept failing. For five hours we failed repeatedly. I have bruises on my spots and bumps on lumps and sore muscles I had long since forgotten I'd even had. I haven't been this sore since playing college rugby. We can't wait to go back! Hints to hanging out there - not actual game hints, that would be cheating. Parking - use the garage one block south. It's fairly inexpensive as far as parking goes. And the two hour ticket isn't nearly long enough. Plan to spend the day. The beverages are fairly inexpensive, but you can have a free locker if you want to bring your own water bottles. Wear sneakers. Wear shorts, or leggings, or athletic pants. Skip jeans if you can. Not comfortable. Oh! Ladies! If you keep your nails long I STRONGLY suggest you cut them way down. And batting gloves would be useful for anyone who hasn't done rope climbing in a while. If you can schedule a massage for the next day your body will be grateful, especially if you've turned into a slug, as I have. I can not recommend this place highly enough. read more

The rooms are a mix of mental and physical challenge, and are varied enough to cater to a range of ages (check the color code). There are some really cool props and themes. Minus one smelly room and some glitches (which the staff seem quick to handle). Keep in mind that you can try asking the staff for hints/ check if you're on the right track, but they'll mostly give you vague answers like "you're not prepared enough" or "that sounds like it might be a good idea" as not to ruin the experience. This is a different kind of fun from Escape the Room games for sure! Prepared to be obsessed, curious, frustrated, but excited at the same time. Honestly never done something like this before, but what an experience. I did the whole day for $33 dollars a person and it was well worth it! I had so much fun, some challenges were more physically demanding and others were just mind puzzles. It gets pretty busy with a bunch of kids in the afternoon, but it does settle down later in the day. I only stayed for about 5 hours as I got hungry, they do have a taco bar you can pay extra to eat at.. but the food didn't look appetizing to me. There is a water fountain right next to the taco bar if you get thirsty so remember to hydrate! read more

Boda Borg is one of the most unique and fun indoor experiences I've come across in a very, very long time. As an escape room aficionado (having done more than 70), I was extremely excited to try a place that was described to me as an "escape room complex". While a little different than a traditional escape room, Boda Borg delivers on all levels and exceeded my incredibly high expectations. Rather than having an hour to escape, people are put in a room with no instruction and no hints and are asked to complete a series of mental or physical challenges in an allotted amount of time. If you don't succeed in that amount of time, you fail. We failed. A lot. The best part though? For $22 for two hours or $33 for the whole day, you can try each room as many times as you want. You just have to completely restart if you fail! Boda Borg has a number of challenges that are suitable for everyone. Whether you're looking for a physical challenge (Tough, Tougher, Toughest, Platoon, Jungle, Alcatraz), a mental challenge (Game Show, Spook House, Pirates), or just plain fun (Dansa Pausa), there's really something for everyone. The entire building was very clean, there was never a long wait for a quest, and the rooms were challenging (as well as frustrating). I highly recommend trying Boda Borg. read more

Definitely worth the drive!! We got the all day pass for $30pp. Totally worth it, easily spent over 4 hours here. They have free lockers. The rooms are made for 3-4 people! Big groups will get split up. I love how there are both physical and mental challenges. Each quest has a few rooms, different time frames, and if you lose you have to start the whole series over. Not too crowded, some rooms you might have to wait but it's not a big deal since you're probably catching your breath. (Also why you should get the whole day so you don't feel pressed on time!) I have been here 3 times and have yet to find something negative about this place! I came here Wednesday night with 3 friends (2 of which had never been before). The place was not very busy and it made our time even more enjoyable! We didn't have to wait for any rooms which was a first for me! Staff is always friendly and I love the upgrade to the lobby space. The only thing that was slightly annoying was that one of the rooms I kept going into would buzz us out immediately as soon as the door would close. We waited a while to go back and after a few hours it seemed like the sensors were working fine! I wish boda Borg would get more rooms like Spook House or Alcatraz! I absolutely love the concept and found every room to be challenging (even in a group of 4, physically fit, intelligent people). Definitely plan to spend a good portion of your day there. We only stayed for about 4 hours and thought we could have done more. Some of the rooms are more well done than others, but I appreciate the creativity behind all of them. The only con I can think of is the crowd that it attracts. If you aren't interested in crowds of high school students, families, etc then this may not be the place for you. Do you like action? Adventure? Crawling around like a crazed lunatic trying to escape prison?!?!?! You get all of this and more here. Each of the quests is uniquely challenging, and many are beyond your average persons capability, making sure the challenges here stay fresh hard and fun. In addition they have free filtered water upstairs and have an incredibly reasonable all you can eat in one sitting taco bar open during lunch and dinner on most days. I highly recommend visiting this place with a group of 3-4 people, as some of the challenges seemed to get much harder with more than 4 people involved and all can be completed with 3, though nearly none of them can be completed with 2 people. I cannot recommend this place enough, if you're thinking about going, I would. If it's a bit of a drive, I still would. The only people who should think twice are people who find physical challenges extremely hard and frustrating and aren't interested in puzzle based challenges. I found the physical challenges to be the most fun, so if you have back, knee or other problems that may prevent you from enjoying things like that you should look into what quests they currently have available and if you think you can do them (hint: the green quests are handicap accessible, but still may be darn hard!). read more

i went with my husband and 2 teen sons on a school holiday. I was shocked at how many very young kids were there. 5th -6th graders abound! We had fun. Did the 2 hours and it was plenty. I honestly could go back and some of the quests are quite haunting. I want to solve them!!! My husband probably had enough after about 1.5 hours and I am sure he would not pay to go back. I could see my kids having more fun with friends and I might have more fun with a couple mom friends but we did have a good time together. My only real critique would be to clean surfaces more. the mats that we crawled on felt pretty grimy- i imagine they are coated with cooties and could be wiped down daily. read more

If you're a kid at heart, this is the place for you. Boda borg is a combination of physical and mental challenges put together in a giant puzzles. There are about 20 quests, each labeled with green, red, or black (meaning mostly mental, half mental/physical, mostly physical) challenges. Each quest has multiple rooms, and once you solve the first room correctly, you move onto the next. However, you have no instructions and have to figure everything out yourself! If you break a rule, you fail, and you must try again. The physical challenges are actually quite tough, and include things like rock climbing walls, monkey bars, and ropes. Definitely wear comfy clothes and athletic shoes! In my opinion, I would get the all day pass ($30) and spend the day there. Two hours is not enough to even get through a few of them!
