My dining partner and I dropped in here on the third stop of four on a Thursday, and we were ready to try something other than brisket and ribs. One of the staff members suggested the daily special, Alabama White Chicken. We did that, and got a hot link to share to round out the meal. Neither my partner nor I had head of Alabama White sauce; it's a mayonnaise and vinegar based sauce that, while tasty, was something that was best used sparingly on the deep brown colored roasted chicken. The meat was fairly moist and the skin had a good flavor from a nice rub. Hot link was fairly good if a bit salty, and the texture and appearance was more of a food service style sausage. Still, it had an appealing taste and would make a great sandwich with a bit of sauce and white bread. We'd like to try this place again with some more traditional meats. read more

My husband and I recently went to the Gladewater location. We will never go back to Bodacious. For over $32.00 we got the sliced beef plate; 4 thin tough dry pieces of meat with fat on each end, no bbq sauce at all, beans were mostly juice, potato salad was good, banana pudding was bland, no drinks were ordered. We were VERY disappointed. They used to be so good! read more

Bar-BBQ was fantastic! The sauce here.. OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! It's what makes the beef so awesome! Chopped beef sandwich was great. $7 a sandwich. Potato salad was wonderful too. Very good flavoring! No French fries, or baked potatoes. So if you are craving taters you gotta get the Potato salad. Good none the less. Glad I did. My wife and I arrived at Bodacious in Gladewater, Saturday afternoon about 12:30 for lunch. The establishment was not busy, only one table of folks inside and and two customers in front of us to order. We noticed only two employees working the restaurant, one taking orders and one preparing food although they switched between jobs occasionally. The wait time to place our order seemed a bit long but not excessive. We were not asked whether we were dining at the restaurant or taking food to go. My wife and I both ordered a sliced beef sandwich and she also ordered a small side of potato salad. After sitting down we noticed that there were no condiments out anywhere in the restaurant. No pickle slices, no onion slices, no jalapeños and amazingly no Bar-B-Q sauce either. We were not asked when placing our order if we desired any condiments with our sandwiches. Our wait time for our food exceeded 15 minutes and seemed excessive considering the number of people present and the simplicity of our order. Our food arrived in a brown paper sack containing two tightly wrapped sandwiches and a small container of potato salad. Noting else in the bag, no condiments, no sauce, no plastic ware, and no napkins. Unwrapping our sandwiches revealed 2 squished wrinkled buns with a fair portion of sliced meat between them. Nothing else on the sandwich, just bread and meat. We requested and received a small container of sauce. We did not request the other veggies as the two guys seemed overwhelmed already. The sliced beef was tender and warm but only fair in taste and texture. The buns were un-appetizing, smashed and slightly stale. We passed on the buns. The sauce was good and made the meat passable, but by no means credible as East Texas barbecue. My wife reports the potato salad as tasteless and uninspired. It was served cold and seemed reasonably fresh. By the way, we had ample time while waiting for our food, to observe the employees while they worked behind the counter. We noticed poor food safety habits displayed by both employees. Both employees handled money AND food without washing their hands between tasks. One wore no gloves at all and the other wore the same gloves constantly while making change and preparing food. I doubt either had a State Food Handlers Certificate. Certainly East Texas has better barbecue restaurants, unfortunately this particular Bodacious is not one of them. read more

Bodacious is hands down the best I've had! They are under new management and really pay attention to detail. I'm from Austin and have been spoiled by all the up scale bbq joints but Bodacious blew them out of the water. The brisket is tender and perfectly seasoned and the sausage was my absolute favorite and different from any I've had before. And the staff and pit master were so friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is that they aren't in Austin! Definitely will be stopping through for their bbq again. read more

RUDE! Food is as good as other Bodacious restaurants, but the lady at the counter was probably the rudest person I have ever encountered.

My husband and i came from Dallas to visit our daughter it was around 8:30 pm when we arrived to the restaurant...we ordered 8 of the sloppy joes and potato salad. We took the meal to my daughters house to eat...The meat was so dark..you can tell the meat has been kept warmed in the bbq sauce for a very long time..it was so salty we could not eat it..and i love seasoning. I called several times to talk to the owners and no one would ever answer the phone!! so disappointed, we always would go to the location in Marshall tx and have never been unhappy. We will NOT be visiting this restaurant again! read more
