    (Cute) Small Tapas Napkin

A Feast for the Senses in the Heart of the City Bodega Biarritz is a tapas adventure that honors tradition while embracing creativity. It offers couples two "chef chosen" tasting menus - a full menu at 55€ and partial 45€ option (which skips a ham, bread & cheese plate appetizer). Each option is served with an Anolic beverage and aperitif per patron. PRO TIP: spring for the full menu, as the apps are not to be missed. The English library-inspired ambiance is intimate with tables close, though each occupies its own cozy space and defines your unique experience. PRO TIP: we passed on the bar seating and waited 15 minutes for a side table to ensure a more intimate couples experience. The bodega's intimacy is enhanced by sparce lighting and omnipresent background music raises the vibe to "hip." From traditional Spanish guitar strumming to electric instrumentals, the music (if you choose to focus on it) defines the experience as much as the food and restaurant bustle. The staff is knowledgeable, hard working and will inquire as to your allergies to curate a meal with the daily kitchen inventory. We observed surrounding tables being served with a handful of different tapas selections than ours. Once seated, you're in your own world, but I would note the almost frenetic pace of activity as staff balances the long queue of waiting patrons, turnover of tables and whisks through the small restaurant venue with large platters of food. As other reviews have mentioned, tapas are a must-do meal for visitors to the area and, the Bodega hits on most dishes, though you will find higher caliber cuisine at a price elsewhere. As for the food: We started with a selection of classic Barcelona tapas. The opener, crisp fried cheese were paired with a light salad featuring ham, sunflower seed and a drizzle of olive oil. This was following by a simple yet sublime tomato bread, topped with sunflower seeds, sea salt, and a generous pour of olive oil. These dishes were a testament to the power of high-quality ingredients. We also savored the rich flavors of thinly sliced Iberico ham, savory chorizo rounds, and creamy Manchego triangles. The larger tapas plates were equally impressive and full of delightful surprises. However, there were some hits and misses in preparation that made the mains this more of a culinary adventure, rather than a euphoric meal. We enjoyed the mini salmon with baby carrots, dill, and cracked pepper - a delicate and flavorful dish. We's also highlight a dish of chipped peas, rice, and spinach with sunflower seeds which was seasoned with a light chicken broth - a very comforting and balanced creation. Traditional patatas bravas were elevated by the shaved potato presentation, all salted for a perfect textural counterpoint to the accompanying chorizo link sausage. Mmm! On the hearty side, we enjoyed a Spanish version of Shepherd's Pie - a bowl of chipped beef and mashed potatoes. We also enjoyed the more traditional taster of shrimp and muscle paella in a scallop shell. Somewhere in between was a dish of turnip mashed potatoes with cheese and pork and a tasty dish of baked chicken with mustard compote. As for "the miss:" the plumb red wine sauce with mushroom and duck confit was rich, but overcooked.

They don't take reservations. Couples get seated faster than groups of 3-4. Tight space. Less than 30 min in line. I like the tapas, but nothing amazing since there are sooooo many good eats around.

Service was on point. We had quite the wait, but were offered drinks while we did and the beer was served in a chilled glass - nice touch. The food is tapas style but prepared by the kitchen. This was so much fun and everything was unexpected, but yummy. A few that come to mind are scalloped potatoes, shepherds pie, chorizo, green beans, salmon, fries, kebabs. Our waiter was the best and this was a lot of fun!

Bodega Biarritz 1881 was such a great experience for me while in Barcelona. The location was within walking distance from my hotel. I found it looking through Yelp. The location is so cozy and intimate. I went solo and sat in the bar area, but I could see this being a really nice place for a date. The lighting was low, and the background music made the vibe of this place really nice. The menu is a curated special of tapas I believe. You have a selection of either a small or larger course of tapas. Since I was alone, I opted for the smaller course of tapas. I enjoyed my tapas, but I would have loved to have shared the larger option with a friend. Maybe that means I'll have to come visit again. I also appreciate the selection of wine recommended to me, but I could kick myself for not having some Sangria while there. Maybe next time.

Best tapas and dining experience in Barcelona! The service was extremely attentive and friendly. Food was amazing!

The food was delicious. The best hummus I've ever tasted. There was a 20 minute wait but well worth it. I am so happy I found this gem

I heard about this place before arriving in Barcelona, so it was already on my list of must-visit eateries. Despite the long line and a wait of over 45 minutes, I can confidently say it was worth every minute. We decided on the €40 surprise tapas for two, and since there were four of us, we were treated to a generous platter featuring two appetizers, 16 tapas, and shots to finish. It was an absolute delight! Each dish showcased exquisite preparation and a variety of flavors and styles, truly a culinary adventure for our palates. Their sangria was also a highlight of our trip. The cozy atmosphere made it perfect for a romantic date night. Overall an amazing experience.

Sweet sweet shrimp and turkey kabob along with the potatoes in the back. Everything was honestly really good.

Took us quite a while to figure out where this place was, but it was worth it. I wasn't even hungry and we finished everything on the board. Thr shrimp and potatoes were amazing. The shrimp was soft and sweet. The mayo aioli and whatever seasoning they put on the potatoes was amazing. The crispy fish on the bottom left was also light and flaky. The dessert drinks at the end were a nice touch.

This restaurant was the best one me and my husband went to while in Barcelona! Heard about it on YouTube, wasn't trying to go to tourist trap restaurants while on vacay and heard this was the one to go to and now I know why! You can't make reservations, and the website says cash only but saw people paying with their cards although we paid cash. There was a line on Sat night for dinner, not sure if there's always one but it was Sat so we expected one. They have seating outside and inside was very small but the ambiance was super cute and red lights everywhere. Very romantic but hard to see or take pics! From the hostess to the wait staff they were super friendly and inviting! The menu from what I remember was €40 for 2 people for 1 app and 8 homemade tapas! You don't actually order but rather tell your waiter what you're allergic to or what you don't like and they take care of the rest which was a ok with us! They brought tomato bread and hummus with pita as an app, and out of all the restaurants we tried this place had the best tomato bread. Then for tapas we got prawns in garlic, fish, some sort of beef that was so soft it melted in your mouth, patatas bravas with chicken wings, veggies, octopus and a mini paella dish with shrimp which was so good I wish it was a big paella dish! Every single tapas hands down was delicious - no joke! Applaud to the chef and I highly recommend! Coming back next time I'm on vacation in Barcelona ever again! Walking distance to our hotel, we stayed near la ramblas. Different topic, la ramblas was very crowded but well located and we were able to access everywhere by staying there!

    Tapas!

The service was excellent, our server spoke English and knew so much about American pop culture. He even sang NSYNC songs to us while serving us dishes. As for the food let's get into it: - Lobster Croquettes (8/10) We've had a lot of croquettes this trip, but these were on another level, get one per person. - Paella (7.5/10) Different style of paella from other places we went. It was almost like a paella curry, which was still rich and delicious. - Squid Sandwich (10/10) This is hands down the best appetizer I've ever had. The squid was packed with flavor and the mayo sauce they used paired perfectly. Order one per person, and be prepared to order another to go. - Garlic Shrimp (8/10) Solid entree paired with sourdough bread. Dip that bread into the sauce and you'll be satisfied. - Aged Beef Steak w/ Foie Gras (9/10) This might be one of the best steak dishes I've had traveling abroad. It was cooked perfectly, and came with a potato crust on the bottom and Foie Gras on top. Definitely a must order. Overall a great experience, from the service and ambiance to the quality of the food, this is a must try when visiting Barcelona. Would I go again? Absolutely!

Cañete was booked out for 2 weeks straight, so we decided to risk it and see if we could get a spot as walk-ins; and were lucky enough to want less than 5 minutes before being sat at the "bar" in front of the open kitchen, which is honestly the best seat in the house IMHO. You get to see all the 'action' and interact with the friendly and often funny staff. Everything in the menu we tried was fantastic, but a few standouts for me were the squid sandwich (do yourself a favor and try it, even if you aren't a "squid person" the bread is fresh, and the butter garlic sauce they use should be sold in bottles at the supermarket), the lobster croquet was refreshing, and the aged beef steak with foie and truffle sauce was delicious and cooked to perfection.
