Their food tastes so good, you can't even tell that everything is made out of tofu. It's way healthier and cheaper. I usually have issues concerning my weight. I just can't imagine myself looking fat. Whenever I feel like I am gaining a few pounds, I just stop eating at fast food restaurants and I go to healthier options like Bodhi. Initially felt "cool" but immediately was greeted with a cold demeanor. Half of our table are Filipino born and raised, while my sister and I are born in the US. I asked for bottled water and they had one bottle left. My dad (born in the Philippines), watched the lady who initially sat us down who mocked me for asking for bottled water. I had my back to the restaurant the entire time, so I didn't see a lot of the interaction, but my dad saw and understood it all. We ordered the sisig - undercooked. The pancit hab hab - underwhelming. They had no soda, and we all (9) had to share 1 big bottle of water. Ok, fine, no troubles. Then, they ran out of plenty of entrees, so we were limited on what to order. My sister watched the staff spray the table while there were still items on it, while my dad watched and listened as the staff were gossiping about all the patrons (including us) in the restaurant. It was quite uncomfortable. Sorry not sorry, but this place is no longer it and the entire staff needs an entire overhaul of retraining if you want to salvage this place.

It's definitely not like the street kikiam which is made of god knows what! Super tasty appetizer... I was excited to try their veg sisig as it was one of their specialties, but I was a bit disappointed as the serving was quite small (at Php 170...) and while it was seasoned well and had a variety of mushrooms and minced tofu/soy/gluten (unsure...), I guess it lacked that creamy sauce that I loved when I used to eat the real pork sisig. It could use some veg mayo or some sauce to elevate it to a really satisfying sisig recreation. However, I should mention that it did come with crumbled chicharon (made of tofu skins) on top! Try their veggie sisig (creamy and dairy-free!) and their crowd-pleaser, fried miteng (gluten), which has a beautiful, chewy texture and savory flavor--amazing when dipped in vinegar. Another favorite of mine is their radish cake, a slice for only Php 15! Before I transitioned into veganism, I've had their veggie burgers and they were just passable -- they smell and taste vaguely like a burger, but with none of the flavor punch. I don't expect it to taste like meat, but it could have had more flavor aside from the mayo and ketchup. Their zucchini fries (vegan) were alright. Same goes for the bean and cheese taquitos, which are served hot and melty, good if you're vegetarian. The bite-sized vegan kuchay dumplings are tasty, crunchy, and served piping-hot. Tofu with veggies on rice are also okay, and would be better without the sauce that's like soy sauce-flavored library paste. But the kicker was the veggie pad thai. It did not look like pad thai, nor did it taste remotely like it. IMPOSTOR. It was just a cup of sticky, overcooked rice noodles coated in a flavorless textured brown sauce topped with thick slices of badly mixed omelet (the white and yolk aren't blended properly), a few strips of unseasoned fried tofu, and a slice of buttered toast. Buttered toast does not belong on pad thai. And from what I recall, it should at least taste like peanuts, chili, lime or calamansi, and sweet soy, plus it should have at least some bean sprouts, spring onions, bell peppers, and more peanuts. I swear I could hear Gordon Ramsay throwing F-bombs in my head. My point is, if you cannot serve a dish properly, even if it's a budget version, then don't serve it at all. Better if they had stuck to their specialty shakes than expanded their menu with substandard meals. For the same price of that pad thai, I could get an excellent vegan bibimbap that's good for two from this new store in our neighborhood. The first and last time I ate that pad thai, I wished I had eaten air instead. Or the ornamental plants. The thing is, I've always been rooting for C'Verde as well as other budget vegan-friendly shops. It's sad to see such a promising store fall to the wrong cost-cutting measures that are likely to alienate their target clientele in the long run.

Thankfully my non-plant based colleague I traveled with had previously dined at Pipino and was cool with us going there, so this ended up being my first meal in Manila. We ordered an appetizer (Unfortunately I cannot remember WHAT - perhaps buffalo fried cauliflower? Whatever it was, it was good because we ate it all!), a margarita, and Tofu Sisig with Garlic Rice. So . . . the margarita was neon green and comprised of . . . vodka? It was just lightly sweet, no tarty margarita flavors. Maybe it was Midori liquor mixed with vodka? I could have asked but I didn't want to potentially be insulting. Not going to lie, that threw me off and made me apprehensive about the rest of the meal. I mean, it wasn't undrinkable, but it just wasn't a margarita. Maybe there are other renditions of a magarita and I'm being an ignorant American - totally possible! Thankfully the Tofu Sisig ended up being quite delicious, I would say, even unique? My colleague remarked that it tasted interesting, but "not bad," hah. I quite enjoyed it. There were an ample amount of tofu chunks in a seemingly coconutty, but slightly tart thick sauce. I suppose it was calamansi (Filipino limes) mixed with coconut cream, soy sauce, and I'm not sure what else? I'm very unfamiliar with Filipino cuisine, so I can't really say! But I thought it was quite tasty, and honestly, it was even tastier the next day, cold, before my morning run, hah. The rice was rice, pretty decent and paired well with the tofu! Their mushroom salpicao and cilantro soup were also good, and although I thought the dalandan balsamic vinaigrette of their Wicked Walnut salad was too sour and their stuffed portobello cheeseburger too mushy, it was redeemed by my favorite dish of the bunch - the veggie triangles! That curried chili sauce was the bomb: cold to the touch, but surprisingly hot and mildly spicy in my mouth. Maybe this is a slight exaggeration, but for the longest time, Blissful Belly's vegetarian sisig was all I wanted to eat. Blissful Belly also serves vegetarian barbecue, Kare Kare, as well as other kinds of vegetarian dishes that are served with red rice. They aren't open on Sundays and close relatively early in the evening so the best time to eat there is at lunchtime. I love eating here every time I need to detox, and also because I genuinely enjoy the food they serve!
