Adeline is a master at coloring. My highlights would look so natural it was like my hair was perfectly and naturally sun-kissed. I have since moved away and have not been able to find anyone who even comes close to Adeline. I am not one to spend huge sums on clothes, hair, nails, etc. and I tend to be pretty frugal. However, even though Bodhi is somewhat pricey I make an exception because it is SOOO worth it. Hope I can get back there one day. read more

Big rip off!! Jean Marc basically cut 2 inches off my hair which took about 10 minutes and then spent the next 20 minutes styling it (which I didn't ask for) then charged me 62 dollars. So once I showered, I was left w/ a haircut that I could have gotten at supercuts. I will definitely never go back there again . read more

I don't think anyone would have done a better job with my hair. I picked this place based on reviews only. I was new to the area, and had bad luck with the salons I picked before. I was looking for a professional hair salon that I could trust. Firstly - They are all really nice at this salon - which is big - because I hate when salon people are snotty. Secondly - Mark (marc?) - I went to him twice - he did great color the first time and he only gave me a trim - but he took me last minute and did a great job...... BUT this time when I went he fully cut and styled my hair - it looks FANTASTIC. I went to Bodhi Salon for a Brazilian Blowout. I had planned to wait for a Groupon, but after reading the reviews about Bodhi, I decided I couldn't wait. When I came for my appointment I was cheerily greeted by the receptionist and the owners' jolly Australian shepherd then taken immediately to the chair to begin. I was designated to Mark, who took more time and care on my hair than I had ever imagined possible. He explained the process as he went, taking serious care to bake the treatment into each strand of hair properly and was never short on good conversation. I have very long, thick hair so the entire appointment took just under 3 hours, and I felt like a superstar the entire time. Of course, the upshot is that I left with a gorgeous blowout that is just starting to fade 4 1/2 months out. (Almost everyone I know commented on my hair within the first week and no one had anything negative to say.) Over the last month and a half much of my natural body has returned, but very little of the wave, which has made blow drying easier even after more than 4 months. I cannot wait to schedule my next blowout with Mark, and will probably treat myself to a cut by Jean Marc based on other reviews. This place is definitely one of Bay Ridge's unsung but brightest gems. read more

The BEST salon I have ever been to. I went to quite a few expensive salons in the city trying to get the right shade of red, and none of them could get it right. Adeline is a master of color and will give you exactly what you ask for, even if its something pretty daring. Jean-Marc gives great cuts, never cuts off too much or too little. I have been going here since I moved to NYC eight years ago. It is a bit of a haul out to Bay Ridge for me but it is well worth it. I have been giving Adeline free reign with my fair and have not been disappointed. Plus she knows my habit of poor upkeep of short hair and manages to cut a cut that grows out very well. I have had many stylists who just want to cut layers and blow out my curly hair, I love that she leaves my hair curly. I know it is rare to completely trust a stylist but I do. I have even moved onto color which I was hesitant of and she nailed it. Perfect color and I get stopped for compliments frequently. It is not cheap but hair is important and worth it. They are very accommodating to scheduling and Enso is an added bonus, love him too. read more

I went in for a cut and color obviously I had to get ombré and I am very picky and always have a certain view. I went to Vanessa and she was AMAZINGGG such a good help, she's very helpful on what color works best for you. I did step out of the box I'm usually very simple,but the color that she gave me was so good. She also did a wonderful job on cutting my hair she recommended I go a little shorter but I did hesitate and now I regret not following her advice. I wanted so badly to have a good experience at this salon. Everyone who works there was so nice, the dog is very sweet... they offered me great advice about hydrating my hair properly and how to help my strands survive the color winter months. BUT... one goes to a hair salon for a good cut/color/ or whatever it is they are into. I can safely say this was one of the worst haircuts, all around, I have ever received. Sure, I showed a few pictures of some light wispy bangs, a trendy new look I was going for... I told him I was comfortable taking off about 2 inches of my long hair, to which he replied I'll add some long layers. GREAT. Everything was going smoothly until he started cutting. About 5-6 inches came off of my head in some places, and the layers are non-existent. It's choppy, blunt and just plain not-pretty. As for the bangs, I have tried every which way to style these bad boys, and there is nothing that can be done. They are short, REALLY SHORT, with no style. I have thick curly hair, and in order to create my "layers" he laid my hair across my shoulders and proceeded to cut it with a men's buzzer. Usually, when you ask a friend how bad it really is, they'll try and soften the blow and go "Oh, it's not that bad... It'll grow back... you're over reacting"... well, that's not the case. Every single person I have shown this "hair cut" to has gasped and said "You better not have paid for that", and I did, in full and also gave him a tip. I should have walked out... but I was in shock. I solely based my choice to visit this salon on the Yelp reviews, so I needed to come on here and share my experience. Since the cut, I've ordered a giant bottle of Biotin in hopes that it will help my hair grow quicker.... read more

I wanted to wait for my second cut and color to write this review. I am hooked. I have been to many stylists in Bay Ridge and the city. Everyone has their own needs and preferences in a salon. I look for consistency in cut and color, attention to detail and friendliness over chicness. Bodhi is all three. The mark of a great cut is how it grows out- the cut I received was precisely what I requested and maintained its dignity as it grew out. The color used at Bodhi lasts longer and did not turn extremely brassy over the course of 5 weeks so that I resembled a freshly minted penny. The service is real, friendly and not pretentious. As I have road tested many salons in Bay Ridge, they are worth a try. I am staying with them. read more

I got a haircut and a blow dry from this salon. I live nearby and based on the reviews i decided to give it a try. The staff were nice but i will never go back. My hair cut was alright it wasn't a bad job. But the reason i give it one star is because he burnt my hair literally. He blew dry my hair then went over it with the straightener and literally burnt it on my bangs. I didn't notice it till i got home and was going through it. The hair was shriveled burnt. It was a nightmare. It took a while for my hair to repair from that. I agree with the review below i think this salon is for more older people i guess im not sure but it has a lot of good reviews so i was reallly disappointed. read more

I am a fan for a few reasons. One, is that this is the only place that I found where the hair is done so well that when I walk out people point to my haircut and sometimes ask where I got it. Once, a woman told her boyfriend and me pointing at me, "I want this haircut next time." Jean Marc says, his hair cut lasts for 5 yrs. It would (If I was that patient). All his cuts grow out well! I never had to come back to fix it before I was ready for a new look. The only thing is that he does better short and medium hair. He is an artist and may not see your cut the same way you do, so when u ask for something, make sure you outline details and guide him if you want more control. I never tried to do color there but I heard it is good too. read more

i've never yelped before, but after my experience at bodhi i feel compelled to do so, as i discovered them on yelp. i got a haircut that i effin hated and didn't want to go back to the same place, though i'd been using them for years. i'm not terribly particular about my hair, but i expect an expert on hair to be able to make a cut look good. anyway, after finding bodhi on yelp and realizing they were in my neighborhood i made an appt for the following day. jean-marc was very nice, very calm, which (for me) is very important. lunatics brandishing scissors frighten me. i explained my misfortune to him and communicated what i was looking for as best as i could with my highly limited knowledge of hair. he spent a lot of time perfecting details and clearly took great pride in what he was creating. i love the cut he gave me, the price was definitely more than reasonable for the service provided, and overall everyone was very friendly and there was a really good vibe in the place. i definitely found my new spot! read more
