I've been taking classes at Body & Brain Valley since September 2022. My experience here has been wonderful. I came in after sitting on my couch for 3 years during the pandemic, so out of shape I could barely walk without huffing and puffing. I was 68 years old. I took a trial class and then signed up for 1 month immediately after. The difference is that my depression & mood has greatly improved. I feel inspired by the classes and the other members in class. My stamina has grown and my body is so much stronger and healthier. My posture is better.. instead of being hunched over, I can now stand up straight and walk with confidence. My balance is way better too. The mind/body approach here works for me and learning about one's energy is wonderful. I love the classes and have grown to have more patience & understanding with my body. We have so much fun in class and I love that we have members of all ages. I would continue to say that Body and Brain yoga is a treasured practice for anyone who wants to improve their overall health Dedicated and encouraging masters, different classes every day which means with regular attendance you train every muscle in your body. My mind is calmer, thinking is clearer. I feel more connected with people and myself. My body feels more flexible and strong, and, most importantly, I brought sciatica under control with guidance of our masters. As a teacher I spend lots of time sitting and looking at a computer screen. Having the ability to log in for class during the pandemic from the comfort of my home has been wonderful. I've been attending the center for a year and a half and I thought I would be disappointed with the online classes. Much to my surprise I enjoy the convenience of rolling off my mat and into bed for the best sleep ever. I've taken yoga classes for over 20 years and this is definitely different. It focuses on feeling and listening to your body and healing yourself physically and spiritually through meditation, visualization, and breathing techniques. I have learned how to calm my anxious thoughts, affirm myself, and connect with divine principals of love and surrender. Master Cob and Master Annabelle are great instructors, very humble and grounded people. I had an eye twitch from stress and Master Cob showed me how to use pressure points to relieve the tension. It really worked! If you take his wooden pillow class you'll feel like you had a deep tissue massage that leaves you feeling light and aligned. Master Annabelle's core strengthening class has helped me with flexibility and improved digestion. At the end there's always an opportunity to share about your experience. It's great to connect with a community of people who are on a journey to become masters of their own bodies, souls, and minds. read more

My friend and I went to check this place out because we are looking for some really gentle healing, not active at all. My friend called and stressed that we are looking for something really gentle. Woman on the phone was pretty insistent and even pushy about coming in, which made us think twice, but we were like, what the heck let's try it. In the studio, the other owner tells me it is active. I asked if it was ok to take child's pose if it's too active. That lady said yes and the other one kinda says no. Another red flag this isn't the place for us We get in there and it's very active so we leave. This was not received well by the lady up front. She says we didn't wait for the gentle part, and I could tell she didn't want to give me a refund but she did. She also insisted that other kinds of meditation are not as effective. Actually for us it has been incredibly effective, and it's rude to put something down that might be working for something else. What works for some people doesn't work for everyone My friend and I have significant trauma which is why we are seeking something else in addition to the somatic therapies we have been doing for quite some time now. We are looking for something trauma informed, which is a specific thing in yoga. During the class, they are big on doing it right, she was trying to stretch me when I'm already at my limit, adjusted me without asking if touch was ok. This is another reason we are looking for something trauma informed What really got me, and why I was driven to write this review (probably wouldn't have otherwise), is the lady said: "when you are ready for deeper healing, come back." Like what??!! Lady, you don't know sh*t about our healing or what we need!! Who says that?! For some place that positions themselves as a place for healing, that was sooo rude. We left feeling more triggered than when we talked in Also if you are looking for what we typically think of as yoga, this is not it We did not feel this met our needs in terms of trauma informed meditation and yoga There are more issues about the experience but I'm tired of talking about this place read more

I was looking for a Tai Chi place somewhere between home and work and am lucky to have found Body & Brain. I have taken both the body and Brain classes and Tai Chi and liked both. Great if you have pain issues or if you are out of shape. A lot of it is about energy and there is a lot of shaking/dancing to get your energy going - it is called "brain wave vibration" and is energizing and relaxing and the music is pretty awesome. I was so tired of other yoga places and their competitiveness, showoffiness and unfriendliness. This is a different form of yoga called Dahn Yoga which is Korean instead of Indian. There also is a lot of tapping on parts of your body and the belly to release stuck energy which I think actually works. It is so nice not to have to do 80 million sun salutations in a row and downward dog every two minutes. There is a "wooden pillow" class that I haven't tried yet but is more centered on the neck and my neck is killing me so Ill have to try that one soon. The instructors at Body n Brain make a point of helping you to feel a sense of belonging and there is always a tea gathering at the end if you want to stay which is nice. I'm not sure what is in the tea but it seems organic and healthy and has a very unusual but good taste. Susan, Talia and Rubel are all great and will make you feel at home. They offer other things on the side like healings, aura readings and workshops. There are a lot of books for sale by a guy named Ilchi Lee who is the founder. Yoga mats are provided and they are clean and thick and cushy. They have a $25 special where you get the first class and a one on one appointment where they explain the central ideas of this form of yoga. Try it out - I think you will like it:) read more

Had to update after last night session. See second part. Awesome place. I went to their classes about 6 years ago and it helped to clear my mind and build my body strengths very much. Just went for another class yesterday and realized - i really need to be back. The environment is very nice and welcoming, it is not your regular Yoga at the gym where they teach you to scratch - this is the whole deal - they help your body, your energy and your balance in life. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone, especially to those who are stressed and going through life obstacles. Second part: I went to the class last night and was going to get 10 sessions ( they have a deal for unlimited sessions for one month $160.00- this doesn't work for me, as i only able to come once a week; they also have a deal for 10 sessions and i was told originally for unlimited amount of time - $170.00) First of all - the deal from Yelp was not honored. I was told that it is for first time clients only ( not stated in the deal ) and can only be applied to one month membership, while i am getting 10 sessions ( also not stated anywhere on the deal) Also i was giving the period of 3 months to use those 10 sessions... counting that i am going for vacations in 8 weeks and i am only able to come once a week... So, my excitement about coming back was a bit spoiled :( Still - a great crowd and wonderful teaching. read more

This is way more than your standard "let's just do poses" yoga studio! That's why I started attending. It's energy yoga. They encorporate all kinds of Asian healing techniques for a full mind and body transformation. I've talked to members who said they've had illnesses healed since attending, and I've got to say, my experience has been amazing. What other yoga studio serves tea after where everyone sits down and shares how class went? Or offers wellness courses as part of your membership? They are really dedicated to not just to strengthening the body and mind, but to cultivating compassion and purpose for a life changing experience! So much more than a typical yoga studio. AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The yoga, the meditation, the energy you get from these classes is so wonderful. I always feel so relaxed and energized after each class. You sleep better, you get better flexibility and you learn different ways to meditate focusing on breathing. While on a trip, I went to visit this yoga center. I'm a big fan of all kinds of yoga and really needed to relax that day. The instructor was kind and friendly, and the place looked pretty cool. It is really a good place if you are looking for more than an exercise. Every time I take a class, I feel relaxed and comfortable. I feel like my heart is filled and become calm and focused. I was tired after class for a while especially first 2 months but I gradually became healthier and more energetic. Now my body feels tired if I don't go to the class. My husband and I joined the center a few months ago and we have been going regularly ever since. Apart from the amazing exercises that our bodies are grateful for, our minds are much calmer and we feel much more connected and balanced. I have been going to the Valley DAHN Yoga Center in Reseda for almost a year. I love it! I feel awesome when I walk out. The instructors are very well trained and we utilize every part of our body with stretching, exercise, meditation and more...I would recommend anyone who loves to feel good and stay well to try it out.
