Was in town for general randomness and decided to drop in on an intro aerial fabrics class with my girls. We're not new to the apparatus but it's been a while so we were happy to check out an intro class. It was very easy to sign up online. First intro class is only $25 for a 75 minute class. It was easy to check in upon arrival and we got a brief intro to the studio and where we needed to go. Rachel was a great instructor and lead us with a thorough warm up and introduction to the aerial hammock. Her cuing was immaculate and she was able to meet and honor each and every student at wherever they are, which was much appreciated. Wish I could give ZERO STARS for the lady at the front desk... I was a new customer, and in town for business. I found this studio and had been dying to try a silk class. So I booked With excitement. Unfortunately, I had a prior therapeutic appointment for my shoulder pain and was advised to not use my shoulder for the rest of the night. I walked to this establishment, as I wanted to see if it would be limited use of my shoulder and arrived 30 mins in advance of the class start time. I wanted let them know that I may not be able to take the class but was willing to try but needed some more info. The lady at the desk was SUPER rude and snarky stating that she didn't know and said she only took that class once. When I asked if I could possible come back tomorrow as I was in town for two more days, She then proceeded to tell me that I took a spot that could have been used and they don't allow that making sure I understood I wasted a space in that persons class. She eventually changed her mind and credited me after chastising me about taking a spot. Another WONDERFUL woman interjected and was so helpful. She taught one of the hoop classes. She was wonderful. I will WASTE that $25 after that experience and will not be back. There are to many places like this around and if they treat you like that as a NEW CLIENT, I could only imagine how they would treat you if you're a regular. Funny thing, I've owned my own boutique fitness studio in Westchester for the last 15 years and would NEVER treat a client/new client this way. People like this ruin a lot of good things, you never know what people are going through but professionalism is a virtue in a costumer based business. read more

I truly appreciate Body & Pole so much! In what I thought was a one time intro to pole class with a friend, we had such a great time we felt influenced in getting their 5 class pack for $99, which was a fantastic deal in trying out their diverse classes. Students are recommended to attend a class, for example, an intro class, a couple times before moving onto a higher level class. As a result, you're going to see people of all different levels. Each of the classes were incredibly challenging to me, and it can be deterring when everyone else seems to do the moves quickly and you're over here having never hung upside down before in your life. BUT, the instructors, particularly Rachel and Dominic, are so kind and patient in making their way around to attend to each student. I could have just given up and skipped the moves, but the instructors really encourage you and offer you a helping hand. I never knew I would be able to do ANY of the moves, but you really can! I'm drawn to the energy of the studio, and given how sore I am after each class, it's without a doubt Body & Pole will benefit you both physically and mentally when going regularly. It was a literal dream come true to take a class at Body & Pole. Drop-ins are fairly pricey, but they have a good introduction offer and some other options if you're here for awhile, I felt a little intimidated because it's such a prestigious studio, but everyone from the front desk staff to the instructor to the students were all so friendly and welcoming. We could not get on the pole first class. And I've been to many intro to pole where that was possible . Was almost a work out class where we can tough pole but not really intro to pole class . Did an intro silks class with Rachel and absolutely obsessed! Was as hard as I thought it'd be given my lack of any strength / muscle, but she did a great job breaking down each step simply and giving us varying difficulties of moves so everyone could work at a level they were comfortable with. There were some individuals scaling the silks and others who were also first-time goers such as myself. Such a fun class where we learned how to do a basic climb and also hang upside down! She also gave us the last 3-5min at the end to take pictures in different poses that we learned to commemorate the moment! I'm about 9 classes in and can say if pole dance was my religion, Body and Pole is my church. Butchie is my go-to instructor. He is the biggest sweetheart, his choreo is so much fun and you learn new moves every time. If you don't understand, he gets right in there with you to help you nail it. I never had the guts to do a forearm stand, but with his help I was able to and drop down into a wannabe split IN heels! I've also taken class with Armando. Another beautiful instructor. His pole'ography class was an exciting challenge. Staff has always been kind and fun to chat with. The studio is always clean. Make it on time and you'll be golden. overpriced and unfriendly. As a new yorker with 2 jobs I came in 7 minutes late to an hour and 15 minutes long class where the first 10mins is stretching. Paid for 2 other friends to come in who were already inside. They didn't let me in or refund me. Not worth 45 dollars to be treated like this. Instructors are great and front desk is nice, but they have an absurd late/attendance policy that really dissuades me from continuing to go here... ESPECIALLY for their pricing. I've had Equinox, Pilates, Boxing and Dance memberships all over $300+ and they all allow you to enter your class up to 5 minute late, and also offer free late cancellations (usually 2-3 times) and Body&Pole does not. Which is ABSURD seeing how the first 10-15 minutes of class is literally just stretching. I mean it's NYC, MTA and traffic is always a hassle and the person wants to take the class? It makes no sense for a studio to not accommodate for their paying customers, especially when there's no waitlist. You are also not guaranteed your own pole, you usually share giving you only half of class time on the pole, which is also ridiculous for $45 per class. So you're basically paying $45 for 30 minutes of pole work... read more

This was so fun! I came in a group of 7 for a friend's birthday and all of us had such a blast with the intro to pole class. We would totally buy more classes if it wasnt for the studio being so far away from where we live. The instructor Dey Phoenix was awesome - so friendly, organized, and empowering. This class taught us a lot of foundational moves (some on the pole, some not on the pole) which was daunting at first bc we were like holy f, how did he do that and look so good?? but after you just stop being so self conscious then it is suuuper fun and not as impossible as you think. FYI the locker room is kinda small and doesn't distinguish btwn genders but it didn't feel uncomfortable at all so it wasn't a problem! read more

We went here for a bachelorette party, and all had a really great time! So fun and it was all our first time trying this. Alex the pole twink was phenomenal, so talented and really taught a great class! The front desk ladies were very nice, we were allowed to wait by the couch area even though we had arrived quite a bit earlier than the scheduled class. Our only complaint was that we do wish that everyone had their own pole (did not have to buddy up) so that we were able to just fully practice etc and maybe learn to try even more things in the time slot. I know it was a class but I would have loved to see him do some of the crazier moves just so I could be like wow! :) Overall, a wonderful experience and a great option for a bachelorette type of activity. I have been going here for about 8 weeks and I have had a really great time. I've done about 10 classes in both silk and hoop starting from intro in both. I'm in level 1 hoop now but I will probably need a few more intro silk classes before moving up! On the class descriptions it says that you need about 4 or 5 intro classes to get to level 1 but in my experience it was more like 8-10. I have done pole for 3 years but I am finding silks to be a lot more challenging! The classes are divided into warm ups and training on the apparatus. When I started, I did feel like the warm ups/conditioning were quite long but I actually think it helped me improve my strength a lot. I could not do a pull up when I started and now I can! All the instructors I have had are great and the safety precautions are good too - everyone wears a mask! read more

We told them we had a lot of us interested and they said we needed to book a private party(significantly more$$). we asked to just find out if slots available and she hung up and wouldn't pickup phone when we called back. I like the instructors at body and pole a lot. What I don't enjoy is when I pay full price for a class and walk in to see that the class has been overbooked. Therefore, you are sharing equipment with someone and spending HALF as much time on learning. And what's worse is that it's not even everyone who has to share. Only some people... I think A) people should be told that the class is overbooked and B) offered a different pricing option for sharing. I only have time to be here once a week and I travel from far to even be here and I leave class not feeling like I made the most of my one chance a week to do a hobby that I enjoy. The last time this happened I considered purchasing a $100 pole from Amazon and just learning for free on YouTube. And now I'm not so sure I want to go back to body and pole if it means that I don't get a FULL dance class but I'm paying FULL price read more

The instructors are great, which makes the training very helpful. Great instructors help you progress. Very important. I enjoyed my pole class, invertable class, and introduction to hoop. The space and class size is just right. I took three classes during covid. I must compliment them on the covid health precautions taken to protect both customers and their own staff. I felt comfortable in the classroom with other people. Everyone was far apart enough for it to be safe. It's quite spacious. In addition, i think the class sizes are reduced. Mask on the entire time for everyone. There was one occasion when someone's mask didn't cover her nose. The instructor immediately made sure she adjusted her mask. I purchased a package right before covid and it expired during covid. They gave me a reasonable extension when i inquired about it. However, they reactivated it for me right away without asking if i was ready to come back. No big deal though because it pushed me to do the classes. Overall, I'll recommend body and pole. Bought a 5 class Groupon deal and used it on 2 hoop, 1 fabric, 1 MELT, and 1 flexibility level 1 classes. Signing up for classes online is easy, but beware that some of the classes get filled up fast - 2 weeks in advance even! Checking in at the front desk is easy, and they'll tell you which room your class is in that day. Very friendly. Hoop - so much fun hanging upside down! The instructor will help push you a little if you need it, and usually they cap the beginner classes to 6 people so that you get enough attention. Fabric - that was harder for me because I have very little upper body strength and core strength. Felt like the instructor gave up on me after a few tries. I will probably not attempt again... MELT - cool class, targets specific body parts and helps you relieve tension using soft/hard balls and foam rollers. Flexibility - probably my favorite because it was the easiest, just stretching! I come here primarily for hoop and flexibility classes. Both of them are great. Intro to hoop is a maximum of 6 people (2 hoops to share) and hoop level 1 is 9 people (3 hoops to share). You get a good amount of attention in both classes. The instructor always ask if anyone has any injuries and also takes requests. I've taken several classes with Alexandria Grime and I really like her teaching style because she explains everything very clearly and also demonstrates twice. Flexibility class is a much larger class in the basement. Similar to taking a yoga class. Again, the instructors always ask about any injuries and requests. Booking classes, especially hoop level 1 and fabric level 1 is going to be difficult unless you book much further in advanced. The classes tend to fill up for the upcoming few weeks during after work hours. So I recommend booking way ahead of time. Body & Pole is also part of classpass, however, they only let you reserve within a week or two ahead so most of the classes will be filled up (except flexibility.) Definitely a priority to have a membership or another form of class package with Body and pike directly to book the classes you want. read more

Took the Intro to Pole class with Dey Phoenix and it was wonderful!! He was an excellent instructor. Very skilled and talented, however, he made his movements easy to understand and really broke down each step on how to do it. He was always very encouraging and never made anyone feel silly for not knowing what they were doing. When practicing individually, he helped if you wanted help, but wouldn't interfere if he could tell you were just trying to get the hang of it. I really loved his class and already plan to take a few more intros with him. I loved the moves he taught, as they looked very skilled, but were not too hard to do for a beginner. I would recommend bringing knee pads if you have them!! I will for sure be bringing those next class. The ambiance of Body & Pole is great. I loved the low lighting, as it made me feel more comfortable than bright lights would have. They have a really great deal on the beginner package that is only available at the desk, which I decided to purchase after my class. Updating the review I posted in Mar 2021 to say that their customer service reached out and accommodated to refund our classes due to extenuating circumstances. My family and friends, were, after all, not local. I understand that policies are put in place for a reason but common sense flies out the window for many businesses when issues that don't fit their policies arise. Thank you for accommodating; we hope issues like these are considered more thoughtfully before strictly implementing policies. March 2021 review: I have enjoyed my aerial silk days here but nothing turns me off more than terrible customer service. My family and friends bought their classes pre-covid (because I wanted to take classes with them) and held on to their classes instead of refunding in hopes of catching a class in the studio once it's safer. We have been trying to find a schedule that works, and since aerial silk intro classes are far and few in between, we've been having a difficult time finding a schedule. We requested to be signed up for a class in May and were told that our class passes expire mid April and we will have to purchase new classes then. My family and friends are not local so DO NOT PURCHASE CLASSES in advance if you want to get your money's worth. With that said, I have had enough of this myself and will not be returning here even though their instructors are good. read more

I've been coming here for years and this is still my top dance studio. All the instructors are amazing. I've grown so much as an aerialist here. My favorite has to be hoop although pole and silks are both also amazing. Only downside is the class prices are so high and it doesn't help that prices have increased durning the pandemic I was hoping they would go back down after covid guidelines changed but unfortunately it hasn't. I really hope they bring back the unlimited monthly memberships and not what is offered now. they used to have summer packages (unlimited classes for the entire summer) I'd take three classes a day 5 times a week (15 classes). Now with monthly memberships you only get 15 classes a month. Can we get better class packages please! read more

I've been here a few times for a drop in class. Very fun, but there seems to be a wide range in what's taught by different instructors teaching the same level class. For example, one instructor for a Level 1 taught a sequence with a straddle invert in the air, while another instructor for a Level 1 taught a sequence using only single foot locks and no climbing. Either way, it's fun, but just know there may be quite a difference if you only drop in from time to time. Excited to go back again soon. read more
