Very happy I stopped in today. After looking for so long for a particular piece of jewelry, I finally found EXACTLY what I needed! The store is directly across from Winners\Home sense on the upper level of Metrotown. I don't know how I missed it before today ( well I do -I wasn't wearing my contacts ! ) that's why ! The store is very bright, clean and well merchandised. It looks really big. I was greeted promptly and asked if I needed help finding anything. I did and I told her exactly what it was I needed. She showed Me exactly what I was looking for ! She also told me the price 15$ for one or 20$ for 2. Such s good price ! Normally one is 25$ and up ! I took both. Extremely rude and racist sales associate. I walked in to take a look at earrings, and asked if I could take a closer look at a pair of hoop earrings that were on one of the small display racks on the counter. When I asked if I could take a closer look at them, the sales associate said in an extremely arrogant tone and very slowly "I... DON"T... UNDERSTAND... YOU". She obviously did not want to help me, and was being racist with her rude attitude and assuming I had poor English. I'm Chinese and was born and raised in Vancouver... English is my first language. When I repeated myself to take a look at the earrings, she simply answered "No" and just stared at me. At that point, I decided to just leave the store. I hope no one else ever encounters such a situation with this sales associate again. I'm never going back here again... Awful customer service and she is a horrible human being. read more

Short Version- staff: rude, unhelpful, no sense of client safety or comfort piercer: put gloves on then touches everything in the studio with those gloves and uses those same gloves on my nostril piercing. UNSANITARY Long version - I went in to have my stud in my nostril changed to a ring. I explained to the lady working that I wanted a snug fitting ring. She replied okay these are the options and I recommend an 8mm ring. I asked if she wanted to measure it because I am smaller person, and did not want it to fit big. she said that 8mm is what i needed. the piercer changed it out for me and when i left my nose was swollen and it seemed to fit slightly big, but not awful. The next morning, after the swelling went away I saw that the ring was huge. I called and they told me to come in. When I get there I'm greeted with the nastiest attitude. They said they could swap it to the 6mm, but if they do that and it's too small they'd leave it in, and I would be stuck with it and they would not help. I once again asked if they could measure it before then and they said no. At this point, I felt this was an unsafe piercing store that valued jewelry over client safety and satisfaction with their permanent body modification. In my previous experience with my 16+ piercings, piercers will always measure to ensure the right fit and if they make a mistake after I place MY trust in THEM, they are always eager to fix it. All this to say unless you for sure know your size the staff won't help you and god forbid they guess wrong because then your stuck with their guess on your face. My advice go to claires by their titanium jewelry ($30 for 3 titanium hoops) because that way you have diameter options and can actually get what you want. read more

Okay, so, I realize this is a complete flip here. But fast forward like, exactly 3 years and I have good news to tell! For various reasons, I took my septum out about a year ago. Lately, I've been wanting it back in. So against what would have naturally been my instinct I decided to give Body Jewelz a second shot. I'm honestly really glad I did. The girl I dealt with at reception last time (I believe she said her name was Torie?) is now a piercer, and she was honestly a delight. I've been informed that the lady who pierced me last time is no longer employed there. Not only that, but it turns out I didn't need to be repierced! She reopened my existing septum piercing with ease. I'm really glad I did go back, and I'd encourage anyone else to go give her a shot as well. Thanks for turning it around ladies read more

Yes, this is located in the mall and I didn't mind spending $300+ yesterday. Look, if you're a kid looking to get pierced while your parents aren't looking or for high jinks, please skip and go to the playground. Most of the clientele are extremely young (the majority being younger than 25 yrs). I heard one young boy commenting that he wanted a sleeve (tattoo) and heard him telling his friends it would probably take "one hour". The staff were exceptionally polite and kept him and his friends informed. They walked away without getting any work. My husband and I just watched out of the corner of our eyes while we waited for my nose piercing. The piercer I've had twice now is Tory and she does a phenomenal job. I can't comment for any one else who works here. Both my husband and I are extensively tattooed. I'll answer a few fyis: 1) Yes, tattoos will hurt. Yes, piercings will sting. 2) Yes, it does cost money for good work and it pays to do your research. 3) Yes, the staff here are extremely polite and good-natured for what they have to put up with on a daily basis. I have never had a bad experience here. 4) Yes, it is worth it jumping to an upgrade right away and not skimping on jewellery (getting cheap jewellery), ie real gold or diamonds. It is your body, after all. 5) Be specific and clear. If you want something done specifically or have allergies, be clear about what you can and can't do. 6) NO, sleeve tattoos do NOT take one hour (usually one day's session at 4-8 hours+ or multiple sessions/days). The average cost of an arm sleeve or back tattoo (dependent on surface area and level of detail) is approx upwards of $2000 to $10000 for a good artist. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions. If you are not serious about any work or are window shopping for no other reason than to get the best or cheapest deal there is, please re-think whether you want this work done. read more

For my first piercing ever(have never had any piercings on lobe or body), I chose to get my industrial done at bodyjewlz. I got my industrial piercing done here a few days ago and I loved it! It did hurt a little bit but my piercer and the person at the counter had already told me that it was one of the more painful piercings. The lady who did my piercing was very knowledgeable about piercings. She checked my ears to see if it was suitable for an industrial piercings before the actual procedure. The place was very clean and sanitary, and my piercer was wearing gloves the entire time. My industrial cost a little over $200, $55 for the piercing and $145 for the barbell, but that was because I chose a premium bar with a swarovski crystal center piece. Everything is a bit on the pricier side, but you're getting your worth in higher quality products. The lady at the counter and the lady who did my piercing were super friendly and informative. They even cracked jokes with me and my friend about how intense and painful it would be to get an industrial for my first piercing. I really don't understand why the reviews are so bad though. My friends and I have come here multiple times and every single time was super pleasant. Overall, I'll give it a 4.5 stars, the minus 0.5 is due to cost and price of everything. read more

This place is in one of the biggest malls in the lower mainland and you can bet they do a high volume, but quality and service does not suffer. I recently visited to get an - ahem - , 'personal' piercing and staff was clean, attentive and pleasant. I guess it helped a bit that I'd done my research as to jewelry type and level of pain to expect. Might be different if you are timid and unsure, I dunno. My advice, if you're not sure about getting poked, don't do it! ( aftercare can be a b*tch! ) In any event, the actual piercing was professional and was over quick! A great experience with Sua for my tattoo. She did a great cover up on an old tattoo for me. I scheduled my appointment right away after a walk in consultation with her, and she was able to put me in her books a few days later. She did a great job and was very attentive with exactly what I wanted. On the day of, she had a few size options of her design to try on me and I was able to see different stencils on me before starting the session. It was the best decision to get this tattoo from her! So we go look around the shop, they have such beautiful jewelry to choose from. So I got a Swarovski crystal one. A bit pricey(85) but it's great for my sensitive skin and it heals it faster. The piercing itself is only 45. All the girls in there were super rad. The lady who did the piercing was calm and chill. Knew what she was doing. The whole this took less then 2 minutes. I got scammed so you don't have to!! They pierced me with broken jewelry and then said that they don't do "exchanges" once you leave the store... How is it an exchange if you're just correcting your mistake? Also you're not supposed to touch your piercings right after they're done, so I didn't know until I got home when one of them fell out of my ear. A brand new pair of earrings should be able to clasp and be worn without continuously falling out. I told them that I really liked the earrings so I didn't want to exchange them for a different pair, I just wanted ones that weren't broken. Then I was told that if I liked them I could just buy another pair from them. Lol. There are so many local piercing places so just go somewhere else because they don't care about your experience and this shop is not worth your time or money. read more

This is the review for Sua. I make an appointment with her to tune up my eyebrow she did about two month before and 1/3 of them fade out in 10 days. As I was diagnosed as Influenza A, I believe the best thing is to cancel this appointment. She said as I did not cancel 3 days in advance, I lost the free tune up. REALLY? Update: this is the worst company I've ever dealt with. I ordered a septum ring literally 10 months ago and it still hasn't come. Every time I called to ask they said they'd get back to me and never did. Every time I showed up to the store they told me it's been ordered and it would just be a few more months. I finally walked into the store once more to demand a refund and she told me they haven't even ordered it. Worst place ever. Got a tongue piercing here (my 5th time piercing my tongue). During prep, I asked her to use a clamp but the piercer claimed she never uses a clamp and she's done it thousands of times so she doesn't need one. My piercing came out crooked and shortly after I chipped a tooth. Went back and the staff (i believe her name is Divhya) was EXTREMELY rude to me. Horrible service. I got another piercing done (price equivalent) eventually but she made me feel as if I should've expected the mistake to come up & that giving me another piercing for free was such a privilege. I decided to visit Body Jewlz to check out their jewelry selection, hoping to find some nice titanium captive bead rings. At first glance the store was very bright and sparkly - definitely good for catching the eye from the hallway. There were two girls at the counter when I walked in, plus someone tattooing in the back. I browsed around the store for a good five minutes or so while the girls chatted - they didn't greet me or ask if I needed help / had any questions. I realized fairly quickly that they were talking about the customer getting tattooed, specifically making fun of the design they'd chosen as being "nerdy", with such comments as "It's going to look stupid" and "I wouldn't get something like that put on me." When I spotted a pair of horseshoe earrings I liked, I asked - after standing at the counter waiting for a break in their conversation, and finally butting in with an "Excuse me, but I was wondering..." - if those specific earrings were internally or externally threaded. Both girls stared pointedly at me for several seconds before one flatly replied, "I don't know." Nothing else. Just awkward silence until I walked away, and then they resumed their discussion about people with stupid tattoos. Can I speak for the quality of the tattoos and piercings? Went in to get a piercing. Some troll girl at cashier with attitude asked me to fill out a consent form and when I did she asked me to write my full name..and when i couldn't go back to write my name I asked her how do I go back (as she told me to go back!) I show her my phone and she slowly says ohh I donnn't have an iphonnne so I don't know. (It's the way she said it and the look on her face as she said it) Then after I tell her I had my tongue pierced before and now it's closed and want it in the same spot so she says can I see ..and when I show her..she slowly says I cannnnt see it ...then I point it out as it's soo noticeable but clearly she is blind...she goes I still can't seeee it. The guy in the back who pierced me says he can totally see it. (Literally re-pierced me with the barbell pointy part..as it was very noticeable..I got 5 whole dollars back and had originally paid $70 buck) Hah anyways the rude troll girl needs a new job! Please don't make the same mistake I did!!! Came here to get a tongue piercing. Absolutely horrible idea, please never go here even if you expect the experience. I was expecting most of the stuff said as I knew it's just a mall grade shop, read all the reviews I could at the time (albeit not all, as it was on somewhere else that didnt go into detail of why this place was bad) but naively went ahead anyway. Not only did they pierce my tongue crookedly, but I had to remove the piercing by the consultation of a doctor because the barbell's bar was too long (which yes, healing tongue piercings need long bars but this one was so large it started tearing my tongue even while drinking water or sucking on ice), but the worker even misjudged my tongue heavily, saying that my tongue was fit for piercing a tongue, which I now know is untrue. It's caused me a really really heavy lisp to develop for me even with the piercing out, and I risk other health issues from the blood loss and continuous tearing the extremely large bar they gave me. Never EVER GO HERE. They will do anything to get their paycheck even if it means long term problems for you! read more

Quite happy with the end result of my tattoo. Not happy with the way the tattoo artist acted. She was cold and very unfriendly. Didn't even smile. When I asked to take a picture of the stencil on my arm once the tattoo was placed, she got upset and said that I couldn't because it would be stealing her work and she thought I was going to let other people steal it. Now I don't know if this tattoo shop has a policy against taking photos of the stencil, but if they did, I should have been made aware from the start. Or atleast told in a polite way instead of this artist being rude in saying I wasn't allowed to take a photo. The rest of the staff were nice and professional. Pretty good place for piercings, they do tattoos too. Something simple it okay, Line work is fine but nothing too fancy. Not big on some of the designs but piercing jobs are done well. Fast, professional, and friendly staffs. Not too many artists so may need a bit of a wait but usually it's a 5 mins wait occasionally a bit longer. Quite a few different accessories to choose from including more expensive quality like gold or rose gold. Titanium is best for people with sensitive or allergic skin. They sell some colour contacts although I've never heard of the brand and it doesn't seem to have prescription but it seems like it's good for cosplay stuff. Pretty reasonable prices too. read more

Worst Service Ever!! I went in to get my ears pierced, a friend of mine suggested Body Jewlz as he had gotten some of his piercings done there. I was so unimpressed by one of the girls on the front desk who was totally unprofessional! At times I have difficulty understanding people as they speak, being non-Canadian... this person was rude and patronizing, ending up speaking to me like I was a child. Her attitude and demeanour was so unprofessional she made inappropriate comments towards my partner and was genuinely unhelpful. I felt totally uncomfortable in the store. As a business that effects people's bodies you would think you would want an inviting, inclusive and understanding environment. Body Jewlz is none of those. The only reason I stayed was because my friend who suggested it was there with me. The piercer was awesome, totally saving the experience! Unfortunately I had to deal with front desk again for my after care... I doubt I will ever return to this store and will be telling my friends to avoid it at all costs! read more

I live in Seattle and make the drive to Canada just to buy jewelry from here. When you walk in the first thing you'll think is "wow this place is super sterile and bright" during my last visit the heart shaped diath piercing caught my eye so I had to get a new piercing! It was quick and painless and the piercer was so sweet and good at her job. They measure and bend your nose rings to perfectly fit your nose which is awesome because many places in America don't carry a 20g and are pre bent to an L so it's not guaranteed to fit your nose.... the jewelry selection is great, my industrial was purchased from them as well and I've had it for over 2 years now and still going strong! Only thing I would change is that the prices are quite high.... read more

This place is great to buy accessories but really a hit and miss for piercings from what I'm reading. My friend got her naval pierced here and had a great experience so she recommended I got mine done here. REGRETS. The woman who was piercing me was telling us stories that people who apply for the job there practice piercing on her, so yeah she sounds really good and experienced if she is examining people doing it on her. She went in and out/pierced me around 3 or 4 times.. it was one of the most painful experiences I have been through. She was having trouble taking off the needle on the barbell and stated because there is lots much blood. It kept slipping and she would have to take it out and re-pierce over and over. (she was shaking while piercing) She then asked if I had drank alcohol, I said I did the night before and questioned is my blood thinned, am I bleeding, she answered yes. "well you should have that question on your damn questionnaire/waiver then.." She was nice but c'mon, piercing me multiple times?! Horrible experience. If it gets infected, not sure if I would do it again, kind of traumatized. read more

First time I went there I got my jewel for my lip piercing changed. They changed it for me for $10, whatever. I've had many piercings and tattoos so I know the drill. My piercer who changed my lip ring was cleaning her station and getting her tools ready. She changed my lip ring and I was out of there. Now just to mention I got my lip pierced at Adrenaline downtown 2 years prior! Anyway, a couple of days later my lip was so sore and swollen that I could barely talk it was so painful. I had to take my lovely piercing out because my job intailed me to speak the whole time. That was that. Unsanitized use of gloves... Change them after cleaning! I gave them another try because my cousins were buying jewelry there and spontaneously they got me a daith piercing last year around this time. I got a different piercer this time, Kristina. She probably was not experienced at the time because this piercing was supposed to be a few seconds not even, but she had to push a few times for it to go through. MOST PAINFUL THING IN MY LIFE! I wish I can post up a picture of it right when it was done because there was a flap of skin at the bottom because of her weak force. Its still in my ear with the bump at the bottom. Went back to see if they can suggest another jewel for it because it was not healing and the guy that owns the place suggested a "nice titanium piece that will cure it right up" he said the jewel I had was the wrong one so he got me to buy a fancy jewel with a life warrantee for the bling. Hah! This piercing is hell. I went to my piercer and she said its not the right metal for me. I am since paying the price of a keloid at the bottom and its still has not healed. I love piercings and I have a lot. I know how to take care of them but this place and people are amateurs trying to run a business. Please do yourself a favor because clearly I had to learn the hard way the second time. read more

I've been pierced by Christina 9 times on 5 separate occasions and each have been fast, comfortable, and virtually painless. She really knows what she's doing, can answer any question, and makes the process less intimidating with her friendly and calming disposition :) I like that she's been at the shop since they opened, she's like their little blue-haired OG Have also been tattooed by their new artist Sua - she is so pleasant and SO talented! Beautiful line work and shading detail... Plus she really works with you to create the tattoo you want. I will be going back to her for more work! Also the shop has a great selection of jewelry!! Everything from cheap and inconspicuous to $500 swarovsky crystal and solid gold pieces.. And more plugs and tunnels than you can even choose from... There's so much to swoon over... it's so hard not to buy it all. The whole shop is super clean and tidy, and the piercing room is virtually spotless which is obviously nice to see. I've been to a lot of different shops and studios in the last decade or so and you can tell they know what they're doing. Was actually surprised a mall shop could be so legit. In general the staff is friendly and helpful, and seem to care about what they do. Repeat customer and have and would highly recommend to anyone! read more

It's so easy to be tempted by all the sparkly jewelry in the glass display cases as you walk by this shop. I went in to have my tragus stud replaced with one made from a "better" quality metal after being told that the one I had in before was "rusting". I paid about $35 for the stud before even going into the piercing room only to have no idea what was being put in. Once I got in there, the stud that was about to be put in was MASSIVE! It was way too long for my tragus. I mean, what sort of piercing shop doesn't have the right size of jewelry in stock?! And why didn't anyone show me what was about to be put in before ripping open the sterile package? The piercer looked about 20 years old and seemed to have no idea about what she was doing. She went on telling me that the "massive" stud was just the right size and wouldn't be too noticeable. Wrong! As soon as I had a look in the mirror, the new stud was sticking out like a whole centimeter from my tragus! Not only was it going to be a major eyesore, but it could easily get caught on things and leave the piercing all angry and irritated. That was just not acceptable, just like everything else about that stud. The polish was terrible, the size was wrong, and it's probably made from some mystery metal that's trying to pass off as implant grade titanium. I went back to complain to the girl at the counter about the improper jewelry only to have her repeat to me that it was the smallest piece they had in titanium unless I was willing to pay like $100 for the colourful and well-polished Industrial Strength pieces. I felt like I was being ripped off right away. I've seen Industrial Strength pieces go for less than that at reputable piercing shops. The counter girl refused to give me a refund or a partial refund, as the piece of junk had already been put into my poor little tragus and had to be thrown out. She said that I could pick out another piece from the display case and have it put in instead of a refund or partial refund. I did find a stud that was the right size and said that I'll take that instead, just so I don't feel so ripped off because I didn't know what I was paying for. The piercer didn't even take the time to run the new piece I had picked out through the whole sterilization process even after taking it out of the display case without washing her hands or wearing gloves. She just gave it a quick spray with alcohol (I think?) and replaced the massive piece with it. How is that acceptable? What the heck was this "rust" stuff that was on my original piece? As soon as I got home, I put my original stud back in and there was no rusting, oxidizing, or anything on it. My poor tragus was super angry as a result of all that changing and handling and whatnot. I can't speak for the tattooing service, but I know that I will be staying away from this place for quite some time. If you're looking for experienced piercers that use only quality jewelry (not that dime-a-dozen foreign made junk that'll give you metal allergies and other problems down the road), I recommend visiting Adorned on The Drive as well as Next and The Fall in Downtown. read more

This place has nice looking jewelry for a VERY affordable price. The only downfall is that the staff is not very knowledgable about the jewelry. I purchased two nose rings because they were 2/$20 so I thought why not, only to go home and try it and it was TOO SMALL! The end of the nose ring would stick out of my nostril because it wasn't big enough to go around my nose. Disappointed, I went back and I couldn't exchange it so I has to purchase two bigger ones, so I ended up spending $40. This is a good place to shop for jewelry, if you know which sizes to get and if you're knowledgeable about jewelry. I went with my friend who was getting her second tattoo done. I was contemplating getting my first tattoo with Sua as her portfolio looked really good. However, after coming in with my friend, I have changed my mind. I came in and had to stand there the whole time while watching my friend get tattooed. Nobody, not Sua or any of the staff offered me a seat. Furthermore, Sua told my friend to not watch her as she was doing her tattoo because it made her "nervous". Like how long have you been in the field that something as simple as a customer watching you work is nerve-wracking? The guy who was tattooing a different customer in the same room seemed cool so I might try him. However, I called to inquire about the male tattoo artist and they put me on hold for the longest time. I guess this is not meant to be. I'll go elsewhere for my tattoo. Piercing experience is ok though. read more

Calling in to explain my situation to insure it doesn't happen to others and all I get is a laugh in the face. Very unprofessional. Would not recommend this place to anyone! Stay away! My mom was in town and wanted her helix pierced , and we walked passed the store so I dragged her inside , they were friendly and helpful, the price was reasonable till we upgraded to a sparkly jewel for $20 extra plus the cleaner and taxes it came to $89 which I think is a little pricy . But the girl who pierced was great and did it quickly . Would come back from another piercing , and you can pay by visa , which all lot of places are cash only which sucks !!!! read more

My experience with them was a very pleasant one. I got my nose pierced from someplace else 5 weeks ago and the jewelry fell off. It being a fairly recent piercing I was scared of it closing up so I jammed a bigger sized stud in there and rushed to body jewlz as it was the closest one to me. As you can guess, my piercing was not happy at the time. I was assisted by James who was very calm despite all my anxiousness and zero knowledge about jewelry. He guided me about what kind would be best, switched the jewelry very efficiently, and taught me how to change it as well. I bought two titanium studs for $30. So far I've had no further problems and my piercing has been very happy with the fitting of this jewelry.
