I've been going to level 1/2 and level 2/3 Reformer Pilates classes at Bodyline for about a year now. There are many reasons I keep going back: I love the new studio on Doheny- the design is clean and bright. I always feel relaxed and happy in the studio. Maria and her staff are very welcoming and friendly. The equipment is top-notch and there is plenty of different equipment with several types of classes to choose from! I look forward to the "Bounce and Burn" class where there is a special attachement placed on the reformer for simulated "jumps"! Oh, and there is free valet (validated) parking in the building! I love the classes- each instructor has a good sense of everyone's performance level and they are particularly great about accomodating everyone in class. I like that even if I am a little more advanced in a level 1/2 class, the instructor will still make sure that I am getting a good workout by giving me the option to work harder with a slightly advanced move. I really appreciate that in every class we learn a new move, work with new equipment and improve our technique--this makes every class fun and challenging! Absolutely in love with Bodyline Pilates studio, Maria's teaching style and all the ladies that work alongside Maria. I was recommended Maria's teacher training program by my personal Pilates instructor Valerie, who was also taught by Maria many years ago and in all honesty, I feel like this is a life changing, fun and overall priceless experience! The attention that each student gets during the class to come into proper alignment of the body for any given exercise is extremely helpful and I appreciate it so much! One of the worst feelings for me is the inability to connect to a specific exercise during a flow, leaving me wondering what am I doing wrong, and whether I am incapable of doing certain things. Under Maria's eagle eye :) and her deep knowledge of every type of human body, constant and simple cuing on how to realign and where to engage to feel the right muscles working - I feel so much more connected to each exercise and to Pilates and it's principals as a whole. This is the best work out i've ever had. I love this studio so much. I have been coming for about two months and I have never had a better experience with any type of athletic class (ex: yoga, spinning, etc. i've tried it all). I came for one class to try it out thinking that it would probably be a one time thing. Almost immediately, I knew this place was what I have been looking for. The studio is clean and professional. The staff is incredibly friendly and made me feel like a regular even though it was my first time. Everyone was smiling and the energy in the space is fantastic. And then i took my class. wow. I have never been more satisfied with a workout. My whole body was engaged the entire time, it was easy on my joints, it was challenging, and the instructor helped make adjustments to my personal abilities. She also helped me hold perfect form, making every move that much more powerful. I now look forward to my class every week. If you're looking for a new studio, this is it. She is very attentive to her students to ensure they have proper form and alignment. If you are unable to get in to her class, she has a solid team of instructors that are all great. I have been a personal trainer and gym owner for 20 + years. I have been a client at Bodyline for 5 years. About 1 year ago, after falling in love with Pilates, thanks to Bodyline, I decided to go deeper into my own practice and venture in to becoming a certified Pilates instructor. The certification program can be vigorous, and often times I felt overwhelmed, at one point I even considered quitting. I could not have gotten through it if it wasn't for Maria Leone. She is an amazing educator, with a lovely energy, who gives you just the right amount of tough love. I am sorry to say but I have never seen a studio so petty about customer service. I signed up through classpass but the studio did not receive confirmation and there were technical difficulties with the app..... Not only was the yoga instructor rude but also the front desk. I came early but they wouldn't allow me in the class and demanded the rate for one class if I wanted to join. I said that they can easily contact classpass and deduct my class from my account and get compensated. In the past no studio has ever turned me down for technical issues with the app as well as treating me like I was not a customer. Do not come here..... read more

I have been training at Bodyline Pilates for about 8 months now. This is the fourth studio in Beverly Hills that I have been to and by far the best one out there. The instructors are professional, courteous, and motivating. Unlike many studios they emphasize technique and form more than strength and reps. This is so vital with pilates as it serves its purpose of keeping the inner muscles strong and protects the back, neck, and spine. I have worked with four instructors at the studio in privates and each one offers a diverse method of training that makes pilates fun, challenging, and provides the results you're looking for. I mountain climb in some of the most extreme climates carrying 75+ lbs on my back and if it wasn't for proper pilates training I would look like the hunchback of notre dame. Instead I'm in my mid 30's and have less physical problems than when I was in my early 20's. Nicky, Petia, Megan and the studio founder Maria are all exceptional trainers and judging by what I've seen with the other trainers working with surrounding clients, they are all brilliant. Highly recommended for all levels of pilates and for all types of results, be it strength, toning, endurance, etc. read more

I had a few sessions with instructor Petia Botcheva and were always 100% satisfied. Petia corrects and explains and that makes huge difference in performance. I used to walk out from other studios exhausted from repetitive movements. The workout with Petia is mental as well as physical, because I have to pay attention to the correct positioning and to the muscles that is supposed to be involved. I leave walking more upright and vigorous. read more

Major bonus points that they provide complimentary valet, wow! I purchased a GroupOn for classes here and have enjoyed my Monday morning beginner classes. There's a big focus on technique and getting the positions or exercises exactly right, I appreciate this! At first there was not a variety of exercises but they've been spicing it up moving off the reformer and using the ring. When there's a packed class of 8-9 students, it can be challenging for the instructor to help all of us newbies figure out how to do the maneuvers or adjust the weights when they're too heavy, or provide a different exercise. I think that 9-students for a beginner class is way too much versus a non-newbie class could totally handle this. However, some folks came when it was their very first time when he or she should have taken a private class first. My only last qualm is that the machine always seems a bit too long with the straps and I don't know how to adjust it!! But it's tough to catch the instructors eye when there's too much going on with alll newbies. This place has the cleanest machines/studio, props! read more

This place used to be so great, but I cannot figure out what happened. Full disclosure: I came here first on a Groupon deal, and liked it so much that I paid full price for a 10-class series. When Maria, the owner, was teaching, the classes were upbeat and gave positive feedback. Why? Because Maria actually knows what she's doing. However, it appears that she's hired a bunch of people to teach who must have gotten their Pilates instruction certificate from an online course, and the classes have gone down the tubes. First problem: there is an imbalance of classes for beginner/intermediate level. If you look at the website, there are 7 classes for Level 1/2, and 14 classes, yes, double the number, for Level 3/4. And that's an improvement from 2 months ago, when there were only 5 classes for Level 1/2. Which brings me to my next point: even when you sign up for a Level 1/2 class, the teacher might just decide, on a whim, to change it to a 3/4 class. Why? Well, because as she astutely pointed out at the time, she, meaning the instructor, is a more advanced level, and the other person who just happened to sign up with you, is also a more advanced level, so I guess, majority rules. The instructor's name was Lauren. When I called to complain, the office manager at the time (this occurred around February 2014) steadfastly swore that Lauren was an excellent teacher, and would never do that, but she would follow up with her, "just in case." Lauren then mysteriously disappeared, and is no longer teaching at the studio. Two others were then hired: Marcie and Donna. Marcie will gossip about anything: her love life, the woman who jumped from the top of a building after having plastic surgery in Beverly Hills, what's she's doing for St. Patrick's Day. She gossips so much, in fact, that she sometimes forgets to give us directions, and we end up doing 40 reps of the same position. Donna is perky and everything that you think would be a good instructor, however, in class, she will unilaterally decide what level she thinks you can achieve without letting you try and fail before she does so. Tonight, while we were doing arm reps with the straps, she chirped, "You, you'll go down to a blue," when I was at a red, and could easily do the repetition. When I asked her about it after class, she made up some b.s. story about safety concerns, and not wanting me to cramp. If this studio was so concerned with safety, they would ask at the beginning of class whether there is anyone with any injuries (they don't). Oh, and they'll change their policies on a whim. At first, no one needed socks in order to use the machines, now they do. You'd think they could do us a solid by sending out an email regarding policy modifications. Given the quality of the instruction has gone down, I wouldn't recommend this place, and won't be renewing my series. read more

I tried this place out because it's really close to my home and I usually travel way too far for my reformer classes. The studio was nice and the free valet is really convenient, as well. To be completely fair, I've only gone to one class thus far so I will go again to see if there are better teachers...I took Marcie and she was sweet and her class was fine but she seriously must have yawned over 20 times. She even commented, "Oh my coffee isn't really working this morning." Really?! That's not very motivating, at all. Instead of being invigorated and ready for the day ahead, after her 8am class all I really wanted to do was go back under my covers and nap. read more

I bought a Groupon here to indulge in some small session reformer pilates. I haven't done reformer in years, but this place is awesome. I've taken 2 classes so far, level 1/2 with 2 different instructors. Both instructors were great, classes are just 4 students so you get specialized attention. They push you hard enough that you feel the burn but aren't crippled. Facilities are clean, good music, free garage parking. Definitely recommend! read more

You cannot go wrong at Bodyline. Whether you are a total beginner or are more experienced, this is the best studio around. All of Marie Leone's instructors are extensively trained and are experts in cueing and teaching classic pilates moves. Form is everything at this studio. You will never find yourself pushed or rushed to do something that doesn't feel comfortable for your body. Teachers always ask clients (new and old alike) whether there is anything to be aware of in your body. The reformers are always in good shape (wood Balanced Body) and the studio is always neat and clean. It you are wanting to take your practice to a first rate studio, this is the place. I was an absolute beginner, non athletic, middle aged mom of three when I started here. Purchased a Groupon. Had my first class last week with Donna. I can tell that she is a great instructor. Strict and offers many corrections, which means she is watching her students at all times and truly cares about posture and correct breathing. I felt like I wanted a little more of a challenge and took another class with Maria (the owner) later last week as well. Let me tell you, the class was amazing! It was such a workout, I was exhausted but felt good at the end. Maria is super challenging and is so consistent with her corrections. I really like this studio's teaching techniques. I love this studio! Bodyline does not disappoint. Each teacher brings her own style to class of course but they all excel in the specificity of cuing and level of caring. They are talented enough to cue multiple ways of describing a move as well as keeping mindful of one's core (easy to lose sight of!), all while being mindful to prevent injury, and all regardless of one's fitness level. I enjoy working out at this Pilates studio. There's usually plenty of meter parking especially in the morning. The classes are usually small, about 6 or 7 people so you will get lots of attention which I like. Amy is a great Pilates instructor and I recommend her classes. This studio is beautiful. I love the unique classes they offer. It's a really well balanced workout and you really see results. Hannah was my instructor and I adored her. She was so amazing and the workout was such a challenge but completely possible to do if following her thorough and great guidance. She monitored our form so closely to make sure that everyone was getting the most they could get out of every position and exercise. I'm definitely going to come back to any classes Hannah leads. Marcie is a fantastic instructor. I have spinal problems and my doctor recommended I try Pilates. Marcie was so patient and I appreciated the time she took to figure out how my body moves with the imbalances and to account for them with each exercise without going so easy on me that I don't feel like I'm getting anything out of it. I am finally seeing results after trying other methods and I feel so much stronger.
