The current location is awesome... so spacious with so much equipment. Everyone is friendly and the staff is always so helpful, encouraging, knowledgeable, and will challenge you if need be. I've made several friends there as well, where we will hold each other accountable which also motivates you to keep going. Each day is a different designed workout for specific areas of the body with music playing through their systems. It's nice to not have to think about what you need to do at the gym that day or design your own workout or even try to push yourself. It's all there for you! They even have heart monitors you can check out/wear to track your heart rate and calories. The workouts: Sunday is core, Monday is total body, Tuesday is lower body, Wednesday is core & cardio, Thursday is upper body, Friday is a challenge day that will work your whole body, and Saturday offers an Advanced Camp, Yoga, and a free (with the donation of a canned good) :45 total body workout for anyone (that means non-members too). That free workout is called Get Fit Give Back. All the canned goods are then donated to Dare to Care. I love that they give back. The work outs are in :30 increments which helps members to stagger their start times. However, if you put two :30 workouts back to back, the hour will be all different... and then it will start over. My internist recommended the Bone Strong Pilates program, because she knew patients whose bone density had increased significantly because of participation in the Bone Strong program. It's too early to know if my bone density has improved. My next Dexa scan will be in June 2022. But I can attest to the other benefits of Holly's Pilates! I had never practiced Pilates before. But I am now a Pilates convert. I practice three times a week with three different instructors: 2 private sessions and 1 class. With each instructor I learn something different that enhances my Pilates practice. I am definitely stronger, fitter, and more flexible. Also I am sleeping better and overall have more energy and joy. Whatever my Dexa scan results show next summer, I will continue my Pilates regimen because it has greatly enhanced my life. Some people want to be bodybuilders, or be in physique competitions, or are athletes ( MacroMan fuels our Louisville City FC team), but for most of us, we just want to be healthier. A friend of mine who loves Pilates suggested I give it a shot and I am so glad that I did. I've been going twice a week since August and it has made a HUGE impact for me. I am starting feeling more balanced, developing a strong core, and having a lot less pain with daily activities. I won't lie, it's not cheap (these are private lessons) but it is 100% worth it to me to find something to help me quite literally get back on my feel and get moving again. There are 3 instructors and I've had them all. They all know a ton about body mechanics and can tailor your workout to address whatever issues you are having. They are also just nice people who made me feel very welcome even though I have serious weight issues and got very deconditioned during my recovery from my injury. They share notes on my sessions so there is great continuity no matter who I am seeing that day. The nitty gritty: The studio is well-equipped. There seems to be no end to the props and tools they find to help you get the most out of your workout. The studio is on the 6th floor across Michigan Avenue from the south end of Grant Park and there's a huge east-facing picture window with a spectacular view. Day or night, it's amazing. I drive to the studio and have not had any trouble finding street parking on either 11th or 9th streets (pay box is $4/hour). They use a convenient online appointment system that allows you to buy packages of classes, see your upcoming schedule, and make new appointments. In short, this place is the best. I found Roots of Integrity because of its South Loop location. The studio is cozy and has a gorgeous view of the lake, which makes workouts feel very vital. As an instructor, Briana is attentive, patient, knowledgable and a consummate professional. This is definitely much more of a challenging workout if that's what you're looking for! In addition to the punching bag, there is a lot of floor/core work that had my torso throbbing the next day! I also had blisters on my knuckles, but that's to be expected :) This is a fun type of workout to get a change from your standard gym visit. I promise you won't leave without breaking a sweat!

They offer the option to come in and try a free class, and that was what I did. Their staff were very friendly, answered all of my questions, and were available via text. After trying the first class, I signed up right then - I had such a great time! Hortworx is a facility that offers infrared sauna workouts - yoga, pilates, cycling, rowing.... a LOT of options, so it doesn't feel redundant. The saunas can fit up to 3 people, but after coming in regularly I've noticed that most people prefer to book during an empty time, so you will almost always have it to yourself (and I LOVE that!) To be honest, if it ever got to a point where I had to share a sauna with 2 other people it probably wouldn't be enjoyable, but it doesn't seem like they are ever that crowded. The saunas have TVs that show recorded workouts for you do follow on your own. It varies by workout, but each session is offered every 30-45 minutes and is open to members 24 hours a day. There are staffed hours, but when the staff is not there, you are given a door code to let yourself in. Another thing I love... the independence. I feel like I can come in at my own time and don't ever feel like anyone is hovering over me. There is also a small gym section where you can use weights and other equipment. The sauna workouts are very enjoyable. This was my first time trying 'hot' workouts, so I was a bit nervous at first but I adapted quickly. Not only do I feel like I'm getting a good workout, but the saunas have helped detox my body and make me feel amazing after each session. Pricing was another huge factor that lured me in. For $60 a month, I feel like having an unlimited variety of workouts is TOTALLY worth it. You do have to purchase their bamboo mat, but again, I still felt like it was worth it and it is a very nice quality. There is also a premium membership, $70 a month, where you can visit any location and have a 'virtual personal trainer' on their app. I'm really happy with Hortworx and can't wait to keep working out here.
