It was only me, my wife, and two daughters so we got a personal tour. He said it would take about 90 minutes, but we were with him for over 2 hours. While you don't actually go into any of the historical places Mike is very knowledgeable about the history of the venues. He was funny and very enthusiastic. He took us to the usual historical stops and then up to Society Hill and on to South St. We saw things we otherwise would not have seen if when we ventured out on our own. Did I mention that he walks backwards about 90% of the time so you can hear his voice? I highly recommend Free and Friendly Tours. While they don't charge they accept tips.

If you are looking for a scholarly history lesson, I wouldn't recommend this tour company. But if you want a more laid back approach to learning the history of Philly, this tour will fit the bill. The Colonial Cheesesteak tour covers a lot of the landmarks in Old City from Ben Franklin's grave to spots along Independence Historic National Park and into neighborhoods that lead to South Street. Just remember if you go on this tour or the others they offer, you can email them ahead or show up since they don't have a registration process currently. And it's true the tour is free, but a tip is encouraged.

So its definitely worth at least a walk into its eclectic outdoor courtyard if you're looking to complete your Historic Philadelphia journey. However, when it comes to a tour experience, it can curve on being geared more towards the young historian while also being on the smaller side. For that experience, I would scale it toward three stars, but I give it four for the outdoor events I've enjoyed over the years. They put on several good outdoor film screenings throughout the summer and fall, with emphasis on classic horror during the Halloween spooky season. During First Fridays, I've also enjoyed outdoor workshops curated by the Ministry of Awe and other nearby galleries. Toss in things like a Triple Bottom Brewing pop-up and live music, and music performances, and they really do make the most of their courtyard. Bonus points for their kitten fountain!

After 10 days, she was then to go to Ecuador for another 11 days. Over the last few weeks, there has been extreme political upheaval in Ecuador. It's very dangerous indeed. As concerned parents, we reached out to Ned from TFT whom we've dealt with for three years now. Ned was very aware of the situation and assured us that they were monitoring the situation daily. We trust Ned. Ecuador is a problem. Pivoting the kids to a different destination at the last minute is a problem. Managing concerns and expectations from multiple families from multiple world locations is a problem. Fast forward to a couple of days prior to departure. Ned informed us that TFT made the (right) decision to cancel Ecuador and like travel magicians, they pulled an alternative Costa Rica adventure out of a hat! We could not be more delighted with the RESPONSIBLE decision TFT made and our daughter could not be more excited about the change in plans. I would not recommend this program for any teen, especially a child of color. My son was called a…read moreracist nickname the whole trip by other students. When I brought it up to TFT after the trip, they blamed my son for not saying anything. My son had a terrible time. I don't think they did a good job creating a safe community where a child, alone, in another country, could speak to the leader. I was also disappointed with TFT's response. They were dismissive and unresponsive. I would not recommend this program.

We paid $60 for colleen to bully and harrass my daughter the entire time she was there. Here are a some memorable experiences she gained: she made my daughter sit on the floor, she told everyone not to be like her, she made my daughter stand next to her so she can embarrass her in front of the group. Colleen then figured she would finish my daughter off by telling lies to her teacher. I can't believe anybody would behave this way. She had my daughter in tears. I hope you have cameras so you can view how your employee treated my 16 year old daughter. If you don't have video, I can provide some... A financial field tour guide screaming at my daughter at the top of her lungs. If your into this kind of behaviour then boy are you in for a treat! I do not recommend.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of doing City Brew Tours this afternoon with our awesome tour…read moreguide Sam. What I felt stood out and made Sam's tour above all of the other various brewery tours that I've been on, is his complete understanding of the chemistry aspect of the brewing process. It's one thing to be able to understand and recite the step by step process of brewing and some of the biological and chemical reactions, but Sam said he went to school in those fields so his knowledge of this fields of study was truly outstanding (and he also had some great stories about beer as well). We visited Flying Fish (the largest and oldest brewery in New Jersey), Lunacy (a cult favorite brewery that I've actually never heard of that only brews at night given the lunar root of their name) and then Roy-Pitz (their main brewing location in not in Philadelphia, but their sours were brewed on site, which if you know anything about beer, sours and all other types of beer need to be kept separated) and Love City Brew Co (this was the last stop on our tour and was PACKED) in the Spring Garden Arts section of Philadelphia. All of the breweries we visited we got a sort of "backstage" look at their specific brewing process as well as tasted four of their beers. On the third stop we had a late lunch/early dinner of sandwiches or burgers (which I didn't even finish because I was so full). Overall based on things learned, new breweries visited, food portion size, and overall tour guiding, I'd give City Brew Tours a 10/10 if it were possible on Yelp. By the end I couldn't even drink anymore beer (I'm tiny, sue me) and left with some new appreciation of some pretty cool breweries that I had never been too. I understand that not every tour goes to the same brewery, seeing as not all will have the same availability week to week, so I'd defs be interested to do another Brew Tour and get to explore some other breweries as well. City Brew Tours was a full day of fun, facts and brews, would highly recommend!

I am relatively certain that the staff on the RiverLink Ferry had no idea what was going to happen…read morewhen Phish decided to play the BB&T arena in Camden for three nights. Thousands of Phish fans trying to get across the river on the ferry could have been a disaster but I do want to applaud the staff for trying their best to keep up with our crazy crowd. I think in general, they did a pretty decent job. This boat must fit at least 500 people and it simply trucks back and forth between the Philly and Camden sides of the river. It's located very close to the Penns Landing Hilton and is a quick uber from Center City. For events like concerts, you buy an $11 round trip wristband that entitles you to passage to and from. They say the round trip takes about 15-20 minutes, but it was stretching more like 25 minutes just I think because of the extra time to load and unload an extremely full boat. But our passage was smooth, the staff moved people pretty efficiently and weren't overbearing or mean to people. The vending machines were sold out, which sucked. I only wish that they'd give people a little more leniency on the return side. They basically say the last ferry is 30 minutes after the show ends. That turns out not to be true because of the fact that it takes almost 30 minutes to do a round trip with the boat and there is way more than one boat load of fans to port back across the river. If they had a second boat, that would help a lot, though I get that maybe they don't because they don't have that kind of capacity crunch most of the time. Anyway, totally fun and fine way to get across the bridge to Camden if you're going to a show at BB&T or something else! Way better than sitting in traffic. :-)
