I hired them to remove and replace baseboards and door trim through Home Depot's Pro service. They double-booked the day my project was supposed to start and instead of rescheduling (which I offered), they sent the owner's brother-in-law - who doesn't even work for the company - into my home. He caused damage, and the work was sloppy and incomplete. The workmanship was terrible: - Boards weren't nailed securely - Large gaps between baseboards and walls - No caulking at seams - Only some nail holes filled - Some corners are mitered, others aren't - they're just boards stuck together for an unfinished, inconsistent look - They skipped spray painting the boards (as outlined in the contract), left several unpainted, and only painted the front face of others. After several text messages with Adam around my disappointment with the incomplete and sloppy work, they did offer to come back and fix things (contract has a workmanship guarantee) - but at that point, NO THANK YOU. The trust was gone, and I wouldn't feel comfortable letting them back in my home. I will likely have to rip half of it out and hire someone else to redo it - leaving me out a significant amount of money, and they don't care. Adam takes an 'Adam first' approach vs. a customer first approach as advertised. The finished product looks like a rushed DIY job I could've done myself. Unprofessional from start to finish.

We were in no real hurry but they went ahead and scheduled when the person was by himself and did not speak English. That language thing is not the issue...it is that they sent him alone knowing this. The fixes were made to some of the other work as it was done right the first time and this team made it seem like we should be happy they gave us something for free for it..some bracket for the gutter. There were times when -and I do understand family things that come up-that communication and follow up were awful. Lucky for us my husband works from home and can flex his schedule. We chose this team because they presented the scope of work so much better than anyone else and not based on the cost of the service alone. Too bad you didn't live up to that.

What we learned firsthand from our bathroom remodel (down to the studs) was that Sergio and team are superb craftspeople, hard-working, and respectful. Our chose a custom remodel for our 1920's Minneapolis bungalow and our input on every detail was taken seriously and incorporated. The complete remodel includes: walk-in tiled shower with a window (yea!), a non-skid shower pan, and grab bars, new custom cabinets, new toilet, sink and heated tile floor. It's functional and beautiful. The subcontractors chosen by Guaman construction (plumber, painter, electrician, cabinet-maker) were of similar excellent quality. My husband and I couldn't be more pleased. I wish I could post photos!

Mike came and took a look and recommended not doing a remodel. He was honest and said he could do the loose tiles but he has a minimum and the amount of work we had to do was not worth his minimum. He gave us the choice to have the work done and pay the minimum or do it ourselves. Not only was he up front and honest on that but he also told all the materials and process we needed to follow to fix it ourselves. In a world of companies trying to up sell, we were super impressed in Mike's honesty and good practices. We will be reaching back out to him whenever we need work done.

Proficient Construction owner/operator, Boe Narveson, did an amazing job planning and assisting me…read morewith my remodel.  Boe's construction team, Nicholas, Scott and Nick were very attentive to my many changes and requests.    Proficient Construction team did a significant amount of demolishing old ceramic tile, cutting, installing new ceramic tile in bathrooms, washroom, dining room and kitchen.  Alot of interior painting was necessary, as I have vaulted ceilings.   A beautiful back splash was installed, along with new kitchen sink, faucet, garbage disposal, granite countertops, new carpet, vanities, toilets and washroom cupboards.  My very favorite part of my entire remodel was the transformation from my 1996 brown brick, oak mantel, brass fireplace insert into painting bricks white, mantle and fireplace insert black and added ceramic tile hearth. The Proficient Construction team totally respected my townhouse by making sure at the end of each day they cleaned up nicely.  Proficient by far exceeded my expectations and executed my vision in an affordable and timely manner.

Joe, one of the carpenters, saw an opportunity to improve the design and discussed it with us, Gaetan, and Bill. We all agreed with the changes and they were implemented. They were very meticulous, took care of our property, and cleaned up when they left. Deck is gone....not a sliver left in our yard! Patrick delivered the dumpster the day before and took it away the next morning on a Saturday! Our neighbors had their roof replaced by another company and the dumpster was left in their driveway for over a week! I regret hiring them to build a screened in porch…read more The quality of work is poor. Parts of the construction are failing less than two years after construction. The roof already leaks and they say they'll try to fix it if we sign a new contract with them. They say it's ice dams but cannot explain why the leaks occurred when there was neither ice nor snow near the seam they say is leaking. The exterior door repeatedly sagged and could not be opened. They came out to fix the door this summer (after many phone calls over a period of months) and nailed a big plywood board over the screen door to strengthen it - that's the permanent solution. The current door and frame are still both visibly crooked. It looks completely unprofessional and we feel like we're going to need to hire another professional to have the door reframed and replaced. The porch was not built according to the original agreement. We paid for helical screw pilings, but Miller Construction switched to cheaper concrete pilings without any notification, did not offer a refund for the difference in cost, and would not talk to us during construction to discuss the situation despite repeated requests. We paid for insulation throughout the addition, but the building was not framed to allow space for insulation in many sections of the room, so we have an addition that is only partially insulated. The communication with Miller Construction has always been poor. We've had multiple promises to call or come out to look at the various issues, but the promises are rarely kept. For the first few months after contracting with us, communication was so lacking we seriously questioned whether the company had run off with the initial payment. They hadn't, but they didn't reach out to us until months later when a crew showed up at the house unannounced. I wouldn't hire them again.
