He may be technically good at his job , but has a very cold and condescending bedside manner ... I met him many years ago when my sixteen year old daughter had her third molars extracted .Felt his rudeness and coldness then and now this past week when my friend had a tooth pulled . Living in Mendocino often puts you in Santa Rosa or SF for excellent professional services...but not if you need teeth pulled. My family has had the misfortune to need teeth extracted 4 times in the past 10 years. Dr. Boettger is great as are is his office staff and assistants. He is very professional and follows up your extraction with a call to check up on you late afternoon/early evening. Both my teen age daughter and I have had wisdom and not so wisdom teeth extracted sometimes under anesthesia and sometimes with only a local. No problemo and kind professional care. read more

I came here for a wisdom tooth removal, and I loved how this office explained everything to me in detail after realizing that I was very nervous. The staff explained everything in detail at the consult, as well as the risks, and the day of the appointment went smoothly. I did not wait long and I was given an explanation for aftercare veery thoroughly. They also explained everything to my ride which was my mother, and The rda even walked me to my car at the end. If this is a first time under sedation I highly recommend this office. read more

I arrived at the office for a consultation. My question was to have been whether I should have an implant. After filling out the customary paperwork I was told that I could proceed only if I signed a document waiving my rights to a trail by jury . The right to a jury trail is a part of the fabric of our society and should not be trampled. I refused to sign the document and left the office . My problem is not with the policy, but that they do not disclose the fact they will refuse to see any patient without the patient agreeing to a waiver of their Constitutional rights. It would have been easy for this office to disclose that fact as a part of the confirmation of the appointment, and that disclosure would have saved me two hours on the road. Anyway, since they refused to see me I can't rate this business but I did want to post this in case a potential patient felt the same way about this trend to refuse service to people unless they sign a document giving up their rights. read more

Set up appointment for a consult and then wisdom teeth removal the next day waited about a month and half for these appointments we have to drive 4 hours one way and four hours back sent all the information on my insurance delta dental of Washington which is offered through my blue cross anthem insurance I get a call back several weeks before the appointment saying they don't accept delta dental of Washington but of California but previously said they take it grant you I have almost 1000 left for my daughter for the year before out of pocket cost which I did expect to pay they can't even give an estimate even though dental x ray were done within the last two weeks reception was very rude and unprofessional she stated "we don't even have insurance information for you" ‍‍‍ okay you must of missed the memo when I called and gave it to your office from the beginning when you told me you accept my insurance if you can't communicate in the office and no one know what insurance who takes and no one can have it together please believe I won't be trusting you to put my daughter under laughing gas and cut into her mouth! Bye we took our business yes you are running a business elsewhere where I'm treating with respect and not met with a condescending attitude. After having two teeth extracted I was offered 3 different types of pain medications. Explain to the doctor that I didn't have much experience with pain medications but I do know that in the past Codeine had made me a very sick and I had had experience with vicodin So I chose vicodin. The doctor seem put off as if it was a bad choice but did not offer any explanation? At that time he didn't tell me that the pharmacies did not carry vicodin any longer and that it would have to be ordered or that it would be $500 per prescription. Something that I would expect him to know considering he offers only 3 pain managment medications all day long every day!!! When he was called after not being able to fill the prescriptions because he did not put the milligrams or dosage on the prescription. And because of it having to be ordered I would prefer to change it to something else, he did not call me back for 6 hours and then told me that I could just take Tylenol I should only be in pain for 10 hours.!!!! So if you're looking for a doctor that takes in consideration pain management he is not a doctor I would suggest. read more

I had an abcessed tooth and it needed removal immediately. I was referred here from my regular dentist because he could not remove it. After sitting down in the chair and waiting for Dr. Boettger I was told that I was unable to be helped due to my lack of insurance. (new job waiting for insurance to start) This is understandable. I could not make a future appointment because i was unsure when my insurance would kick in. This is not my complaint. My complaint came when the ukiah credit bureau called months later saying that I owed them for failing to appear at an appointment here. The appointment I could not even setup due to the insurance problem. so now I owe whatever and my credit gets toasted do to this fiasco. read more

Dr. Boettger extracted 2 wisdom teeth for me when I was 23, 19 years ago. From that day since I've lived with constant excruciating pain. Over the 19 years I've visited countless doctors dentists, tried just about every alternative type of medicine only to have the problem get worse and worse over time. I always explained to each dr what started this cycle of pain and tmj and never could get one to comment on whether or not Dr. Boettger's care might be responsible for my condition. Until this week. I saw a neuromuscular dentist who confirmed what I had known all along, that the extraction by Dr Boettger was done inproperly, my disc was slipped off my jaw and now I have bone grinding on bone. Over the years the pain has gotten progressively worse. Migraines, neck, shoulder and back pain along with excruciating jaw pain leaving me unable to eat. Multiple times I've dropped down to 99 pounds. I also for the last 8 months have had tinnitus, a common tmj symptom which is a constant high pitched ringing,My mouth is smaller than average and he didn't take the time or care to do the procedure properly. So now I live in misery, every year it gets worse. There are times I don't leave my home for weeks, unable to because of the pain. I went from a normal 23 year old person to this, living almost my entire adult life in pain. Now with the care of a neuromuscular dentist I'm trying to get my life back. She thinks she may be able to help me with some new treatments that have become available. I pray that she can. I hope that Dr Boettger reads my review and realizes what he's done so that no one else has to go through the hell that I have for almost 20 years. And for the record I did contact him after the procedure telling him of the difficulty that I was having, he was very condescending acting like I was making up the severity of my symptoms. read more
