If I could give Nonster Concrete zero stars I would. If you are considering them, I suggest you run…read morethe other way fast!! Here is what happened to us: We recently had a bad experience with a local contractor and I would like to share our story in the hope that other people won't be taken by him. At the very least, it's just a warning to all that no matter what contractor you use, some of them are not trustworthy. We hired Dave Nonn of Nonster Concrete to pour a patio for us. Scott A. De May talked to him to let him know of our plans for the patio, and that is to build a covered roof overhead. Dave suggested that the right was to do it would be to put footings down to support the posts. This extra work would require them digging down 18" on the edges and pouring concrete down there to support the weight of the roof. The extra cost would be $450, bringing our total cost to $1,950. The work was done and Dave came to collect his check. He told us we owed $2,000 instead of the $1,950. He assured us the extra work was done. Upon thinking about it Scott realized that there was no extra dirt laying around the perimeter where the 18" was supposed to be dug out for the extra concrete. He then went out there with a shovel and started digging and found out the extra footing work was actually NOT done. We had been lied to and charged $450 for work that wasn't done. Scott texted Dave in the morning (a Saturday) and told him what he found. Dave said he would come by and look at it on Monday. Scott was adamant that he come out right away because he wanted him to look at it and find out what he was going to do about it. Instead of coming out, Dave sent his son who looked at the issue and it was agreed that they would come back on Monday to "make it right". Monday his son came out and placed some piers under a few spots. This quick fix he did in no way cost an extra $450, and wasn't what was supposed to be done in the first place. We should be refunded at least part of the $450, if not all of it. We have called and texted Dave daily for over a week now and he won't call us back. I doubt we will ever see that money again, and the work is still not right! The piers he put under there technically will help support the roof but not as well as the original plan. I just keep thinking that if Scott hadn't investigated himself by digging to check the work, we would have never known. Not only would we have been ripped off, but we could have built the patio roof that would have been anchored to a concrete base that wasn't sufficient to hold it. I think what angers and disappoints me the most was that he lied to our face and now won't call us back about the refund he owes us. So... buyer beware! Dave Nonn of Nonster Concrete isn't a reliable, honest contractor who stands behind his work. I will not recommend him to anybody.
